The Diocese of Stockton (Latin: Diœcesis Stocktoniensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory, or diocese, of the Catholic Church in the Central Valley and Mother Lode region of California in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archbishop of San Francisco The mother church of the Diocese of Stockton is the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Stockton.

The Cleveland Elementary School shooting (also known as the Stockton schoolyard shooting and the Cleveland School massacre) occurred on January 17, 1989, at Cleveland Elementary School in Stockton, California, United States, when 24-year-old Patrick Purdy, who had an extended criminal history, shot and killed five students and wounded 32 others. As first responders arrived at the scene, Purdy committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. His victims were predominantly Southeast Asian refugees. The attack was the U.S. non-college school shooting with the highest number of fatalities and injuries until the Columbine High School massacre, and of all U.S. school shootings in the 1980s, it had the largest number of victims.

The Conservatory of Music (COM) is one of eleven schools and colleges at University of the Pacific. It is located on the school’s main campus in Stockton, California. COM is the first accredited professional music school on the west coast and a charter member of the National Association of Schools of Music (1928). It offers 11 different degree programs, all of which are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

El Dorado Elementary School, now known as Stockton School for Adults, is a public school building in Stockton, California. Built in 1916, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It was designated a Stockton Historic Landmark by resolution number 34,306 on July 11, 1977.

Billy Hebert Field is a stadium in Stockton, California, United States. It is used primarily for baseball and was the home field of the Stockton Ports until they moved to Banner Island Ballpark in 2005. The stadium continues to be used as a venue for high school baseball playoffs. It was also used as a practice facility for the Stockton Lightning minor Arena League football team. The ballpark has a capacity of 6,000 people and opened in 1953. Prior to 1953, the land upon which the field is built was used for baseball since the late 19th century. In 1927, Oak Park Field was constructed. After the field's grandstand was destroyed by fire for a second time, the modern-day grandstand was built in 1953. The field is named for Billy Hebert, the first professional baseball player to die in World War II.

University of the Pacific (Pacific or UOP) is a private university originally founded as a Methodist-affiliated university with its main campus in Stockton, California, and graduate campuses in San Francisco and Sacramento. It was the first university in the state of California, the first independent coeducational campus in California, and the first conservatory of music and first medical school on the West Coast. Pacific was chartered on July 10, 1851, in Santa Clara, California, under the name California Wesleyan College. The school moved to San Jose in 1871 and then to Stockton in 1923. Pacific is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. In addition to its liberal arts college and graduate school, Pacific has schools of business, dentistry, education, engineering, international studies, law, music, pharmacy, and health sciences. It is home to the papers of environmental pioneer John Muir in Pacific's Holt-Atherton Special Collections and Archives. The university also has a John Muir Center that hosts a Muir Symposium to encourage the use of John Muir's Papers. At Pacific's William Knox Holt Memorial Library, there is a museum style presentational space for Muir's Papers. The Muir Experience has on display physical and digital exhibits to inspire user interaction with Muir's work.

The Cathedral of the Annunciation is a Catholic cathedral in Stockton, California, United States. It is the seat of the Diocese of Stockton.Archbishop John J. Mitty of San Francisco approved the building of a new parish in the north side of Stockton in 1941. As the population of the city was growing to the north, the decision was made to build a "new" St. Mary's, and then eventually tear down the "old" St. Mary's downtown that had been built in 1893 and was in bad need of repair. Monsignor William E. McGough was the first pastor of the "new" St. Mary's. He worked with San Francisco architect Henry A. Minton and Stockton contractors Shepherd and Green to construct the modified-Gothic church. The building permit for the church was issued on March 5, 1941, for a building that would cost $175,000 and take approximately one year to build. As the Second World War began, the pace of building slowed but did not stop. The building had been fully paid for before construction was finished and the total cost was $285,000. The church was dedicated on December 12, 1942. The church is constructed of reinforced concrete, then faced with brick and ornamented with cast stone. The overall treatment is Gothic. A ninety-two-foot belfry tower is located in the northeast corner. Limestone steps lead to the entrance, which has a vaulted ceiling and terrazzo floor.

Raymond College was an undergraduate honors college at the University of the Pacific from the years 1962 to 1980. Located in Stockton, California, it had an interdisciplinary curriculum that emphasized learning in the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities, styling itself in the tradition of the liberal arts. Raymond College initially offered an accelerated three-year program, though it moved to offer a four-year program as well in the 1970s. The curriculum emphasized seminar style learning, only offered a single interdisciplinary major, and students received written evaluations (called term letters) rather than traditional letter grades.

Camp Stanford was an American Civil War tent camp established on March 3, 1863, in present-day Stockton, California. It was located in the then undeveloped perimeter of the city, occupying two square blocks of land, now bounded by Rose, Acacia, Van Buren and Monroe streets.The Stockton Daily Independent, of Monday, March 2, 1863, reported: SOLDIERS -- Capt. P.B. WHANNELL, of Company G, 1st cavalry, will bring 28 men to this city on Tuesday night, to go into quarters at the camp selected by Col. BROWN, which, we are informed, will be called 'Camp Stanford.'Camp Stanford served as the mustering point for Company G, 1st Regiment of Cavalry, California Volunteers which was mustered into the United States service on the June 12, 1863. Company F, of that regiment was mustered into service there on October 31, 1863.

Alex G. Spanos Center is a 6,150-seat, indoor multi-purpose stadium on the campus of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. The Alex G. Spanos Center opened on September 9, 1981, and was constructed for over $7 million. It is named after late Pacific alumnus and Los Angeles Chargers owner Alex Spanos. The arena consists of 3,000 chair-back seats with the rest of the capacity coming from bleacher style seating. If needed, the arena can expand its capacity to 8,000 for certain events. This arena was the premiere sports and entertainment venue in the Stockton area until the completion of Stockton Arena in 2005.

Stockton Early College Academy (SECA), also known as Stockton Unified Early College Academy, is a public four-year charter high school in Stockton, California. It is part of the Stockton Unified School District. The school currently has 443 students enrolled. SECA is currently rated by U.S. News & World Report as California’s 16th top-rated high school and 147th in the nation.

Reuel Colt Gridley (January 23, 1829 – November 24, 1870) was an American storekeeper who gained nationwide attention in 1864, when he repeatedly auctioned a plain sack of flour and raised over US$250,000 (equivalent to $4,678,000 in 2022) for the United States Sanitary Commission, which provided aid to wounded American Civil War soldiers.
