Schwarzbach is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Emscher.

Horst Castle (German: Schloss Horst), located in the Horst district of Gelsenkirchen, is recognized as one of Westphalia's oldest and most significant Renaissance buildings. During its construction in the 16th century, it ranked among the largest four-winged castle complexes north of the Alps, significantly influencing the architectural style of the Lippe Renaissance. On December 15, 1983, it was declared a listed building.

Nordsternpark (lit. North Star Park) is a park in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. It is located on the compound of former mine of Zeche Nordstern. After the closure of the mine in 1993 the area was redeveloped. In 1997, the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Garden Exhibition) took place here.An amphitheater is located near the canal of Rhein-Herne-Kanal, where music festivals and other cultural events are taking place, among them the annual Rock Hard Festival. The park is part of the European Garden Heritage Network and the Industrial Heritage Trail.

Karlsplatz is an underground station of the Essen Stadtbahn in Altenessen, Essen. Lines U11 and U17 call the station as well as buses 172, 173, and 183. It is located below Altenessener Straße at the crossroads of Johanniskirchstraße. The station has two tracks. There is a lift in operation. Line U17 terminates here. The station opened on 30 September 2001. The Marienhospital is located nearby.

The shopping mall of AlleeCenter is located nearby, also Zeche Carl cultural centre.

Zeche Carl (Carl Mine) is a cultural centre set up by Essen Council in a former coal mine.

Essen-Altenessen (Bahnhof Essen-Altenessen—"Old Essen") is a railway station situated in Essen in western Germany. Altenessen is a northern borough of the city of Essen, Germany. Officially it is divided into the two boroughs of Altenessen-Nord (Altenessen-North) and Altenessen-Süd (Altenessen-South). It is on the Oberhausen-Osterfeld Süd–Hamm line and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 6 station.The station was opened between 1925 and 1927 by Deutsche Reichsbahn.It is served by Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 9 (Recklinghausen / Haltern am See and Wuppertal - Hagen), operating every 30 minutes during the day. It is also served by three bus routes: 260 (every 20 minutes), 265 (every 20 minutes) and 266 (every 60 minutes), all operated by Vestische Straßenbahnen.

Stadion Gladbeck is a multi-use stadium in Gladbeck, Germany . It was used as the stadium of Germania Gladbeck before they disbanded. The stadium has 15,000 seats in total, and houses all kind of facilities for athletes. During WWII, the stadium was badly damaged by the Allied Forces. The three entrance structures and the standing wall of the east side was destroyed, with bomb craters in the field. It was fixed by the good samaritans of the city in 1947. In October 2008, the stadium was used to shoot a film.

It is located at the crossroads of Gladbecker Straße and Bäuminghausstraße. The station has two tracks. There is a lift in operation.The station opened on 24 May 1998. The Stadion Bäuminghausstraße is close to the station.
