Rancho Sausal was a 10,242-acre (41.45 km2) Mexican land grant in the Salinas Valley, in present-day Monterey County, California, given in 1834 by Governor José Figueroa to José Tibúrcio Castro. An additional grant was made by Governor Pío Pico in 1845. The name is Spanish for "willow grove". The grant encompassed present-day Salinas.

The hospital is owned and operated by Monterey County and the hospital's emergency department receives approximately 52,000 visits per year.As a safety-net hospital providing healthcare to the residents of Monterey County for over 134 years, Natividad provides healthcare access to all patients regardless of their ability to pay. The hospital operates with a medical staff of over 300 physicians and has several specialty clinics as well as outpatient primary care clinics operated by the Monterey County Health Department. Natividad Hospital is a Level II Trauma Center providing the immediate availability of specialized personnel, equipment, and services to treat the most severe and critical injuries. In 2015, Natividad was formally designated as a level II trauma center.Natividad is the only teaching hospital on the Central Coast through its affiliation with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Recognized nationally and internationally as a model program, Natividad's Family Medicine Residency Program is postgraduate training for physicians specializing in family medicine. About 1/3 of the graduates remain on the central coast to establish a practice. Natividad is governed by a Board of Trustees, under the guidance of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors. Natividad (Spanish for "Nativity") is an unincorporated community and ghost town in Monterey County, California. It is located 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Salinas, at an elevation of 164 feet (50 m).Natividad was named for the Rancho La Natividad Mexican land grant which included the community. It was the site of a significant battle of the Mexican-American War in 1846. A post office operated at Natividad from 1855 to 1908. Natividad was a bustling station for stage coaches in the 1850s until traffic was re-routed through Salinas. The town declined after the completion of the Southern Pacific Railroad through Salinas in 1872, and its last remaining building, a saloon, was demolished in 1964.The Battle of Natividad of the Mexican-American War was fought just north of the townsite. A historical marker commemorates the battleground.

North Salinas High School is a public high school established in Salinas, California. It is one of five primary high schools of the Salinas Union High School District. The school was founded in 1959 as the second high school in the system to relieve overcrowding at the original high school in Salinas, Salinas High School. Students at North Salinas usually come from Harden Middle School, Washington Middle School, and Gavilan View Middle School.

Rancho La Natividad was a 8,642-acre (34.97 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Monterey County, California given in 1837 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Manuel Butrón and his son-in-law, Nicolás Alviso. Rancho La Natividad and Rancho Los Vergeles were adjoining ranchos along Gabilan Creek north of present-day Salinas. The headquarters of each rancho were close to the entrance to the pass through the Gabilan Range to San Juan Bautista. The Rancho La Natividad grant encompassed present-day Natividad.

Alisal (; Spanish for "Sycamore grove"), sometimes called East Salinas, is a neighborhood of Salinas in Monterey County, California. It is located east of downtown, at an elevation of 89 feet (27 m). The unincorporated community of Alisal was annexed to Salinas in 1963. Alisal is home to Alisal High School. The first post office at Alisal opened in 1866, closed in 1869, with service transferred to Gabilan. The East Salinas post office opened in 1940, was renamed Alisal in 1947, renamed back to East Salinas in 1949, and back to Alisal in 1950. Alisal's ZIP Code is 93905.

Salinas Municipal Stadium was a baseball park located in Salinas, California, United States. Opened in 1949, the stadium was the home field for the Salinas Colts, Salinas Packers, Salinas Indians, Salinas Spurs and Salinas Peppers. When it first opened, the stadium's seating capacity was 2,000. By 1984, it was 3,600.The Stadium was demolished and replaced with Rabobank Stadium, a football stadium that will serve as home to the football teams of Hartnell College, North Salinas High School, and Palma High School.The stadium sat across the street from Madonna Del Sasso School.

Salinas is a major stop on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuit. The Salinas rodeo (pronounced the Spanish way: "roDAYo") began in 1911 as a Wild West Show on the site of the old race track ground, now the Salinas Sports Complex. The Salinas Sports Complex is a sporting complex located in Salinas, California on the Central Coast. The main feature of the complex is a 17,000-seat stadium for California Rodeo Salinas. Soccer, football, and rugby was also played at the main stadium before the opening of Rabobank Stadium next door. The grounds have been home to the California Rodeo Salinas since 1911. The original wood stadium structure was built in 1924 and replaced in 1996 with a stadium design by Kasavan Architects. The stadium's field is wide enough to host soccer matches along with football games, and indeed it hosted the California Jaguars of the United Soccer Leagues (then USISL) from 1995 to 1999. For several years, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) has hosted events from its "minor league" system, such as the Touring Pro Division (formerly the Challenger Tour) and BlueDEF Tour, at the complex. The complex is also home to baseball and softball fields. The stadium not only hosts rodeo and sports events; it can be converted into a race track for auto racing, monster truck shows, and motorcycle racing. Concerts have been held at the venue, such as the Eagles in 2005, RBD in 2006, the Scorpions in 2006, Mary J. Blige in 2007, Luis Miguel in 2007, Creedence Clearwater Revisited in 2009, Alan Jackson in 2012, Aerosmith in 2015, Kid Rock in 2017, & Blake Shelton in 2018.
