Châteauroux

Châteauroux station (French: Gare de Châteauroux) is a railway station serving the commune of Châteauroux in the Indre department of central France. It is situated on the Orléans–Montauban railway, between the communes Vierzon and Limoges.

Déols (French pronunciation: [deɔl] ) is a commune in the department of Indre, region of Centre-Val de Loire, central France. Déols is an ancient town with a famous Benedictine abbey, Abbaye Notre-Dame-du-Bourg-Dieu. Today it is somewhat overshadowed by the nearby city of Châteauroux, which faces it across the river Indre. It preserves a fine Romanesque tower and other remains of the abbey church, once the most important in the duchy of Berry.

Stade Gaston-Petit is a multi-use stadium in Châteauroux, France. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of La Berrichonne de Châteauroux. The stadium is able to hold 17,173 people. Gaston Petit is a former mayor of Châteauroux.

Bitray, some 3 km to the east of Déols in France, was the site of a First World War civilian internment camp. It had around 500 occupants, consisting of nationals of countries then at war with France. Journalist Georges Batault of the Gazette de Lausanne visited it on 23 April 1915, and reported the presence of 287 men, 193 women, and 180 children. Of those, 323 were Germans and 337 were Austro-Hungarians. In 1917 it was converted to an American Army hospital.

The Battle of Beaugency took place on 16 and 17 June 1429. It was one of Joan of Arc's battles. Shortly after relieving the siege at Orléans, French forces recaptured the neighboring district along the Loire river.

Châteauroux-Centre "Marcel Dassault" Airport (French: Aéroport de Châteauroux-Centre "Marcel Dassault", IATA: CHR, ICAO: LFLX), formerly known as Châteauroux-Déols "Marcel Dassault" Airport, is an airport serving the French city of Châteauroux. The airport is located 5.5 km (3.0 NM) north-northeast of Châteauroux in Déols, a commune of the Indre department in the Centre-Val de Loire region in France. The airport is named after Marcel Dassault and is located on the site of the former Châteauroux-Déols Air Base. It is dedicated to air freight, aeronautical maintenance, pilot training and training of airport firefighters.
