Vocational Training Centre Revillagigedo is a work of the Jesuits in Gijon, Asturias, Spain. Early through higher grade vocational training courses are offered following the regulations for vocational training in Spain.

The Asturias Railway Museum or Gijón Railway museum (Museo del Ferrocarril de Asturias), in Gijón, Asturias, Spain, is an institution dedicated to restore, preserve and display to the public the railway history of Asturias. It was inaugurated on October 22, 1998 by the current king Felipe VI as Prince of Asturias in that moment. The centre is economically supported by Gijón City Council, and it’s integrated in the museums municipal network. It’s one of the most important Spanish railways museums. The museum is located at the old North Train Station of Gijón, very near Poniente Beach. It occupies more than 14,000 m2 and includes the original station, built in 1874, two new buildings and railway tracks.

Gijón Railway Station, also known as Gijón Sanz Crespo, is the main railway station of Gijón, Spain. Since 2011 it is located in Sanz Crespo street due to the works for the Metrotrén Asturias project. It is the terminus for Alvia services from Madrid, Alicante, León, Valladolid and Barcelona, as well as Intercity and Media Distancia services from Madrid, Valladolid and León. It is also the last destination for four Cercanías commuter railway lines. The station was built in 2009 in order to find an alternative for Gijón-Jovellanos / La Braña and Gijón-Cercanías that were planned to be demolished in order to free up the area for the construction of the Metrotrén, a project to extend the train line underground. As of 2021, Gijón Sanz Crespo remains as the only station serving Gijón downtown, and even though the tunnels have been dug, there is no clear plan on where the new station will be built or even if it will be built at all.

Unión Deportivo Gijón Industrial is a football team based in Gijón in the autonomous community of Asturias. Founded in 1969, it plays in Tercera Federación – Group 2. The club's home ground is Santa Cruz, which has a capacity of 2,500 spectators.

Jove or Xove is one of the twenty-six parishes within the municipality of Gijón, in Asturias, Spain, part of the West district of the city. Previously to be integrated in Gijón, Roces was one of the historical parishes of the city. Its population was 1,579 in 1995 and grew to 3,189 in 2012.Jove is located on the western coast of Gijón. It borders the city in the east, and with the municipality of Carreño in the west. El Musel port is located in this district.

Elogio del Horizonte (transl. Eulogy of the Horizon) is a concrete sculpture located on the cliffsides of Gijón, Spain, overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. It stands 10 metres (33 ft) tall and weighs 500 tonnes (550 short tons). Designed by Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida and inaugurated in 1990, it has been described as a "symbol" of Gijón. Conversely, it has also received criticism for its elevated construction costs and unusual shape.

The Juan Barjola Museum of Painting is a museum located in Gijon, principality of Asturias, Spain. The museum was inaugurated in 1988, after a donation by artist Juan Barjola of 104 works from the years 1950–1988. It is under the auspices of the Cultural Council of the Principality of Asturias. The museum is located in the Trinidad Complex, a four-storied historical building.

Cimavilla (Spanish: Cimadevilla) is a neighbourhood of the municipality of Gijón, in Asturias, Spain. Its population was 2,811 in 2012.Cimavilla is the oldest part of the city, in it there are ruins of the old Roman settlement. In the 16th century, a port is built in the neighbourhood and it converts it in a residential area for sailors and starts the expansion of Gijón to the south. In the East of Cimavilla is located the Royal Astur Yacht Club, with the first swimming pool of Gijón, built in the first years of the 20th century. Nowadays, Cimavilla's houses are rehabilitated and the neighbourhood is a residential, commercial and leisure area. At the top of the hill is located the Elogio del Horizonte (Eulogy to the Horizon), built by Eduardo Chillida.

The Campo Valdés Roman baths were public baths constructed in Gijón, Spain, near the end of the first century. They fell out of use in the fourth century before being used as a necropolis and covered by a plaza. In 1903, the baths were rediscovered and excavated during the construction of a sewer system in the area. The site of the baths was turned into a museum, which opened in March 1995. The site was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1987, and the museum was Gijón's most visited in 2023.

Castillo de Salas was a Spanish bulk carrier that was launched in Ferrol on 20 December 1979 and completed in August 1980. It measured over 50,000 gross tons, and had a deadweight of over 100,000 tons, measured approximately 250 metres (820 ft) in length, 40 metres (130 ft) across the beam, and 14.5 metres (48 ft) in draft. It required a crew complement of 32.

Gijón (Spanish: [xiˈxon]) or Xixón (Asturian: [ʃiˈʃoŋ]) is a city and municipality in north-western Spain. It is the largest city and municipality by population in the autonomous community of Asturias. It is located on the coast of the Cantabrian Sea in the Bay of Biscay, in the central-northern part of Asturias; it is approximately 24 km (15 mi) north-east of Oviedo, the capital of Asturias, and 26 km (16 mi) from Avilés. With a population of 273,744 as of 2023, Gijón is the 15th largest city in Spain. Gijón forms part of a large metropolitan area that includes twenty councils in the center of the region, structured with a dense network of roads, highways and railways and with a population of 835,053 inhabitants in 2011, making it the seventh largest in Spain.During the 20th century, Gijón developed as an industrial city in the steel and naval industries. However, due to the decline in manufacturing in these industries, in recent years Gijón is undergoing a transformation into an important tourist, university, commercial and R&D center. Gijón is the location of the Radiotelevisión del Principado de Asturias, the neighbourhood of Cimavilla, the Universidad Laboral de Gijón, the Revillagigedo Palace, and the adjoining Collegiate Church of San Juan Bautista. Gijón is part of the statistical (not yet developed from an administrative standpoint) comarca of Gijón.

The Gijón International Film Festival (Asturian: Festival Internacional de Cine de Xixón or FICXixón) is an annual film festival held in Gijón, a city in northwest Spain. The festival is mainly concentrated on independent and auteur cinema. Gijón's International Short Film Competition qualifies for Oscar and the Goya Awards.
