Larrabee State Park

The Chuckanut Mountains (from "Chuckanut", an indigenous word meaning "long beach far from a narrow entrance"), or Chuckanuts, are located on the northern Washington state coast of the Salish Sea, just south of Bellingham, Washington. Being a part of the Cascade Range, they are the only place where the Cascades come west down to meet the sea. The Chuckanuts are considered to be a part of the Puget Lowland Forest Ecoregion. The range contains Larrabee State Park, the first State Park to be designated in Washington (1923). Chuckanut Bay is a crescent-shaped bay about three miles (4.8 km) long in southwestern Whatcom County, directly south of Bellingham, Washington, United States. The bay was formed along the axis of a plunging syncline during the formation of the Chuckanut Mountains . It is situated on the east shore of the Salish Sea at the southeast end of Bellingham Bay. The bay was named Puerto del Socorro by Lieut. Juan Francisco de Eliza in 1791. The present name was chosen by Capt. Henry Roeder on December 1, 1852. The name 'Chuckanut' is derived from a native word for "Long beach far from a narrow entrance" Prominent natural features include Pleasant Bay located south of Chuckanut Bay, Mud Bay to the north and Chuckanut Island (aka Dot Island) and Chuckanut Rocks to the west. Other natural features include Teddy Bear Cove, Governors Point and Clark Point. The most prominent creeks that drain into the bay are Chuckanut Creek and Fragrance Lake Outlet. The bay is home to interesting tafoni formations found in the area.

Lake Padden is a lake located in Bellingham, Washington, United States. It was named for a homesteader and coal miner in the area, Michael Padden, who purchased the land around the lake in 1873. The park is popular during the spring and summer, and features numerous picnic areas as well as playgrounds. There are also numerous trails located around the lake and throughout the surrounding forest that are used for hiking and biking. A public golf course is located along the eastern shore. A significant piece of geography besides the lake itself is a 1,000-foot (300 m) ridge that separates the lake from Interstate 5 to the south.

Lairmont Manor, also known as the Larrabee House, is a 1914 Italian Renaissance style home located in Bellingham, Washington. It was designed by Carl Gould, who is most known for designing the main library at the University of Washington. The home was built for C. X. Larrabee, who wanted one of the finest homes in the northwest, but he died before its completion. Currently, the home is used for weddings and other special occasions.

Larrabee Elementary School was retired as a K–5 school in June 2014. The building now houses the Bellingham Family Partnership Program, part of Bellingham Public Schools. Larrabee Elementary School is permanently closed.

Fairhaven (or Fairhaven Village) was a settlement in Washington state founded in 1883 by Dan Harris. In 1903, it became part of the city of Bellingham.

The Gamwell House was designed by architects Longstaff & Black and was built in 1892. It is one of the most distinguished Late Victorian era homes in the area of Bellingham, Washington. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.The architectural firm of Longstaff and Black was "an eastern firm who had come from the Boston area to the Bellingham Bay real estate boom"; they also are credited with designing the Cascade County Courthouse in Montana.

Sehome High School is a public school in Bellingham, Washington, located approximately 90 miles (140 km) north of Seattle and 52 miles (84 km) south of Vancouver, British Columbia. The school serves students mainly from the western and southwestern sections of the City of Bellingham and is a part of the Bellingham School District.

KGMI (790 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Bellingham, Washington. The station is owned and operated by Saga Broadcasting, dba Cascade Radio Group. It airs a news/talk radio format. KGMI serves Northwest Washington with a signal that reaches into much of Southwestern British Columbia, including Greater Vancouver and Victoria. The signal also reaches into Seattle's northern suburbs, as well as the Olympic Peninsula. Its transmitter is off Yew Street Road in Bellingham. By day, the station transmits with 5,000 watts. To protect other stations on AM 790, it reduces power at night to 1,000 watts and uses a directional antenna after sunset. Programming is also heard on a 250-watt FM translator station, K243BX, on 96.5 MHz.

Fairhaven Station, also called Bellingham, is a train station serving Amtrak's Cascades route, as well as a bus station serving Greyhound Lines and local Whatcom Transportation Authority buses, in Bellingham, Washington, United States. Built in 1995, the station is located near the Bellingham Cruise Terminal, the southern connection for the Alaska Marine Highway. Water Taxi services and seasonal whale watching excursions also provide connections from the Bellingham Cruise Terminal to the San Juan Islands.Fairhaven Station is owned by the Port of Bellingham and is the last northbound stop in the United States on the Amtrak Cascades route before it enters Canada. (Passengers clear Canadian customs in Vancouver, so northbound trains do not stop at the border.)

Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies is an interdisciplinary liberal arts college at Western Washington University. Instead of completing the general education requirements at Western, students take interdisciplinary classes at Fairhaven, which aim to cover the same breadth and depth of subjects, but within small, interdisciplinary seminars. When it comes time to move onto "concentrated studies," students have the option of pursuing any of the majors or minors offered by Western Washington University, but may also choose to shape their own interdisciplinary concentration or major, combining independent study, internships, and Western Washington University courses with Fairhaven courses to define their course of study. Another unique feature of the college: nearly all classes follow a small seminar format rather than a large lecture format. Class enrollment is rarely above twenty students and will sometimes have two professors for a given class instead of only one. Fairhaven students do not receive letter grades; instead, they are given narrative evaluations, in addition to writing their own self-evaluations, for each class.

The Bellingham Cruise Terminal is a ferry terminal and transportation hub located in Bellingham, Washington, United States. It is near the Fairhaven neighborhood and was completed in 1989 and provides easy interchange between various modes of transportation. Operated by the Port of Bellingham the facility serves over 200,000 passengers a year.
