Harrison West

The First Avenue School is a former public school building in the Harrison West neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. It was listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1983, and was listed as part of the Near Northside Historic District, on the National Register of Historic Places, in 1980. The building is one of the oldest in the neighborhood, built in 1874. It is also one of the oldest remaining school buildings in Columbus, built at the same time as the Second Avenue School and Stewart Alternative Elementary, also still extant. In 1984, Wood Development remodeled the building into the First Avenue Office Center at a cost of $1.2 million.The Italianate structure has segmental arched windows, a wood cornice, hipped roof, and piers on the corner of each projection. The school's main entrance features a round arch with a brick keystone.

The Near Northside Historic District is a historic district in Columbus, Ohio. The large district encompasses portions of the University District, Harrison West, and nearly all of Victorian Village.

Battelle Memorial Institute (or simply Battelle) is a private nonprofit applied science and technology development company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The institute opened in 1929 but traces its origins to the 1923 will of Ohio industrialist Gordon Battelle which provided for its creation and his mother Annie Maude Norton Battelle who left the bulk of the family fortune to the institute after her death in 1925. Originally focusing on contract research and development work in the areas of metals and material science, Battelle is now an international science and technology enterprise that explores emerging areas of science, develops and commercializes technology, and manages laboratories for customers.

Italian Village is a neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, that contains an array of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. It is a designated historic district, known for its historical and cultural preservation. The building types and architecture reflect Italian influence. With its parks and preserved historic homes, Italian Village has the highest home value appreciation in Columbus. Italian Village is part of the Short North area. The neighboring Downtown district provides access to major employers, cultural and learning institutions, and entertainment venues.

Northwest Columbus is a region in Franklin County, Ohio. It has about 45,000 residents, according to the 2010 U.S. census.Northwest Columbus is bounded by the Scioto River on the west, the Olentangy River on the east, State Route 161 on the north, and Highland Drive and Henderson Road on the south. Victorian Village is a neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, United States, north and near west of downtown. It is an established neighborhood built when a streetcar line first ran along Neil Avenue around 1900 with a fair number of established trees for an urban setting. To preserve, protect and enhance the unique architectural and historical features, the Victorian Village Historic District was established in 1973. Columbus Monthly named this neighborhood the top place to live for Arts and Entertainment, with fun right around the corner in the Short North as its neighborhood hangout.

The ISKCON Krishna House is a Hare Krishna temple in Columbus, Ohio. Established in 1969, it is the oldest Hindu temple in Ohio. Its significance has been recognized with an Ohio Historical Society marker.

The Circus House, also known as the Sells House, is a building in the Victorian Village neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The three-story, 7,414 sq ft (688.8 m2) house was designed by Yost & Packard in an eclectic style, using elements from numerous architectural styles. It was built for the family of Peter Sells, one of the owners of the Sells Brothers Circus. The house is located at the northwest corner of Goodale Park, one of the first city parks in Columbus. Peter and Mary Sells' house was built in the 1890s, with influence from a family trip in 1891. The building was completed in 1895, and furnished with décor from the family's world travels. Peter Sells split from his wife in a widely publicized divorce in 1900, and he died in 1904. The house subsequently saw a range of commercial uses, from an office building to a daycare center, a fraternal order for commercial travelers, a nursery school, and an alcoholics' recovery house. In 1998, the house returned to single-family residential use, and each of the three owners have completed various renovations to the house during their ownerships. The house is a contributing property of the Victorian Village Historic District, overseen by the Victorian Village Commission, and the Near Northside Historic District, on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Ohio State University College of Medicine (formerly known as The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health) is the medical school at The Ohio State University and is located in Columbus, Ohio. The college is nationally recognized as a top institution in both education and research, as reflected by rankings in U.S. News & World Report,No. 28 (tie) in Best Medical Schools: Research. In 2023, its two primary teaching hospitals (The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children's Hospital) were ranked as one of the best hospitals in the U.S. in 9 and 10 different specialties, respectively; and Nationwide Children's Hospital was named to U.S. News & World Report's select honor roll of U.S. Best Children's hospitals.

The Health Sciences Center for Global Health (HSCGH) at The Ohio State University (OSU) is a collaborative program among the OSU Colleges of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry, Pharmacy, Public Health, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. The HSCGH is led jointly by the Colleges of Medicine (COM) and Public Health (CPH). The HSCGH was created to increase student interest in global careers, prepare students for those careers and to promote, develop and coordinate interdisciplinary global health education and research throughout the health sciences colleges and the larger community. The Board of Trustees approved the creation of the HSCGH in July 2007.The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Fogarty Framework Grant was awarded to OSU in September 2008. The NIH John E. Fogarty International Center grant supports the creation of new, multidisciplinary educational programs as well as an administrative infrastructure to support activities.

Pataskala United Methodist Church is a historic church building at 458 S. Main Street in Pataskala, Ohio. Circuit riders established the first regular services of the Pataskala United Methodist Church in 1853. Meetings were held in a schoolhouse located where the present Pataskala Town Hall now stands.William H. Mead II raised funds to construct the current brick structure in 1896-1897. The church building was designed by Henry Brookes. Brookes and William Condit "hand hewed the rafters and siding," while the pulpit was hand carved by Julia Brookes. The bell was hung in 1897.Remodels to the building since its initial construction include the addition of a basement in 1910 that was later enlarged in 1928, the installation of a pipe organ in 1928, "the remodeling of the choir loft and chancel area in 1964," and an education wing and social hall addition in 1971. In 1927, L. R. Moore designed and painted the portrait of Christ in the sanctuary.The building has elements of Gothic Revival styling. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Its history and significance was described in 1979 as:Pataskala United Methodist Church is significant to the religious history of the community. Architecturally the church is an example of late 19th Century Eccleastical style often found in small towns and rural areas. Architectural elements include the Gothic Revival inspired squat buttressed bell tower and pointed arched stain glass windows and the Stick style exposed truss in gable over the side entrance. Methodism came to Lima Township and Pataskala in 1853. One of the three most prominent religions established in Pataskala, the United Methodist congregation was comprised in part by local business leaders. It was listed on the National Register as a follow-on to a 1980 study of historic resources in Pataskala.

The Ohio State Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital is located at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The hospital specializes in cardiology, and is ranked number 46 in the United States for its heart program by U.S. News & World Report for 2020. Care is provided for patients with cardiovascular disease or peripheral vascular disease. The hospital was the first in the country to perform robotic surgery.
