Fodder Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia.Fodder Creek was named after Chief Fodder, a Cherokee tribal leader. A variant name is "Fodders Creek".

The Towns County School District is a public school district in Towns County, Georgia, United States, based in Hiawassee. It serves the communities of Hiawassee, Tate City, and Young Harris.

The Towns County Jail, also known as Old Towns County Jail, in Hiawassee, Georgia was built in 1935-36 by the Federal Emergency Relief Administration and modified in 1981. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. As of 1985, the building served as Hiawassee City Hall.It is a two-story rock building with a hipped roof.The Towns County Herald noted in 1936 that the completed jail was a "'modern, safe, sanitary, and commendable structure'" and praised Ordinary J. F. Johnson for his work building the jail, which cost $4,353 in total. It served as Towns County's jail until the 1970s, when a joint jail shared with Union County was built.It was one of seven county jails reviewed for National Register listing in 1985.

Hiawassee is the county seat of Towns County, Georgia, United States. The community's population was 880 at the 2010 census. Its name is derived from the Cherokee—or perhaps Creek—word Ayuhwasi, which means meadow, (A variant spelling, "Hiwassee," is used for the local river and some other Appalachian place names.) Hiawassee is also known in the novel "Restart" by Gordon Korman.

Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens is the only public botanical garden in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia specializing in Rhododendrons and Native Azaleas. The protected area encompasses 33.0 acres (13.4 ha) on land sloping to Lake Chatuge. Hamilton Gardens at Lake Chatuge, Inc. was a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization that successfully restored the garden and operated it for six years. Located near the city of Hiawassee, Georgia, the gardens have the largest collection of native azalea and rhododendron in the Southeast U.S.

The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, which opened in 1978, is home to several popular events throughout the year including the Georgia Mountain Fair, Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In, Georgia Mountain Fall Festival, Superstar concerts, and Georgia's Official State Fiddlers' Convention. Located on a 161-acre (0.65 km2) tact along the shores of Lake Chatuge in the north Georgia mountain community of Hiawassee, the Fairgrounds offers a glimpse into the past with its historic Pioneer Village, an expansive and comfortable music venue in the Anderson Music Hall, the Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens and 189 RV camp sites with lake views and modern conveniences.

Mountain Scene is an unincorporated community in Towns County, in the U.S. state of Georgia.

Lake Chatuge is a man-made reservoir in Towns County, Georgia, and Clay County, North Carolina. It lies along the Hiwassee River created by the Chatuge Dam which finished construction in 1942. The lake is relatively shallow with depths of 30 feet (9.1 m) and reaches 144 feet (44 m) by the dam. Lake Chatuge is the highest major lake in the state of Georgia. Chatuge Lake takes up 7,000 acres (2,800 ha). The construction of Chatuge Dam and its reservoir required the purchase of 11,641 acres (4,711 ha) of land, 1,904 acres (771 ha) of which had to be cleared. 278 families, 532 graves, and 40 miles (64 km) of roads (including part of U.S. Route 64) had to be relocated. One house relocated from the Elf community during the clearing of the land later became the Clay County School District superintendent’s office until 2005.Chatuge Dam was raised ten feet in 1954 so the lake level could rise an additional four feet.

Brasstown Bald is the highest point in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is located in the northeastern part of the state in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the border between Towns and Union counties south of the city of Hiawassee. The mountain is known to the native Cherokee people as Enotah.

The Brasstown Wilderness was designated in 1986 and currently consists of 12,896 acres (52.19 km2). The Wilderness is located within the borders of the Chattahoochee National Forest in Union County and Towns County, Georgia. The Wilderness is managed by the United States Forest Service and is part of the National Wilderness Preservation System. The highest elevation in the Brasstown Wilderness is the 4,784-foot (1,458 m) peak of Brasstown Bald, which is also the highest point in Georgia. The land that forms the Wilderness drapes across the northern, northeastern, and southwestern flanks of Brasstown Bald. In addition to 14.1 miles (22.7 km) of trout streams and abundant wildlife, the Brasstown Bald is home to several threatened or endangered species such as the pygmy shrew.

Wolfpen Ridge is a ridge in the Blue Ridge Mountains in U.S. state of Georgia that runs south to north along the boundary between Towns and Union counties. Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, is located at the northern end of the ridge (elevation: 4,786 feet (1,459 m)). At the southern end of the ridge, there is an unnamed peak with an elevation of 4,561 feet, which makes it the fifth-highest point in Georgia.

Jacks Knob Trail is a hiking trail that has been designated as a National Recreation Trail in Georgia, US. The trail is 4.5 miles (7.2 km) long and is located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in the Brasstown Ranger District. The trail is managed by the U.S. Forest Service. The trail starts at Brasstown Bald and heads in a southernly direction along the boundary between Union and Towns counties. After 2.2 miles (3.5 km) and a descent of nearly 1,500 feet (460 m), it reaches Jacks Gap and crosses Georgia State Route 180. Shortly after reaching Jacks Gap, Jacks Knob Trail enters the Mark Trail Wilderness. The trails ends at an intersection with the Appalachian Trail below the peak of Jacks Knob at an elevation of about 3,550 feet (1,080 m).
