Porter station

Gift of the Wind is a large-scale public kinetic sculpture, by Susumu Shingu, located in Porter Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts at the Porter, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority subway and commuter rail station. The art work consists of a tall white pole with three red "wings" attached to the top that are "designed to shift in response to the movement of the wind, not only turning clockwise and counterclockwise, but tumbling over and over in various sequences." It is considered by some to be "Cambridge's most visible landmark".>

Glove Cycle is a 1984 public art installation by Mags Harries, located throughout the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Porter subway and commuter rail station in Porter Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The artwork consists of 54 separate bronze pieces and was created with a budget of US$30,000.

Porter Square is a neighborhood in Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts in the USA, located around the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Somerville Avenue, between Harvard and Davis Squares. The Porter Square station serves both the MBTA Red Line and the Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line. A major part of the Lesley University campus is located within the Porter Square area. In 2004–06 the principal intersection, including the area adjacent to the shopping center, underwent extensive construction both to improve access for vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and mass transit users, and to improve drainage and storm water conditions. The artist Toshihiro Katayama of Harvard University, in conjunction with the landscape architect Cynthia Smith, designed a new visual look for the new circulation design, including contrasting light and dark concrete paving, stone walls and boulders.

The Lovell Block is an historic residential and commercial building at 1853 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The three story brick building was built in 1882 by Andrew Jackson Lovell, with two specific commercial tenants in mind. One was his own grocery business, and the other was the North Cambridge Post Office. The upper floors contained a total of four well-appointed residential flats. The building was an early instance of a mixed-use residential-commercial structure, at a time when most lower-income housing was tenement-style, and the idea of higher-quality residential rental property was relatively new.The block was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Yume Wo Katare (Japanese: 夢を語れ, lit. 'Speak Your Dreams') is a ramen shop located at 1923 Massachusetts Avenue in the Porter Square neighborhood of Cambridge, Massachusetts. It specializes in Jiro-style ramen. The restaurant is known for its service concept: diners are encouraged to share their dreams and aspirations to their fellow diners after finishing their meal.

North Avenue Congregational Church (now known as John and Carol Moriarty Library, and previously as Old Cambridge Baptist Church and North Prospect Congregational Church and Prospect Hall) is a historic church meetinghouse at 1801(previously at 1803) Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It was completely renovated in 2015 to become a library for Lesley University. The former church now forms part of what is now the Lunder Arts Center complex.

The John Winthrop Chambers, also known historically as the Brooks Apartments, is a historic apartment house at 78-80 Porter Road in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023. Built in 1915, it is a significant local example of residential Colonial Revival architecture, and an early example of the large courtyard-style apartment block in the Porter Square neighborhood of Cambridge. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.

The DeRosay-McNamee House is an historic house at 50 Mt. Vernon Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story brick house, with a dormered hip roof and limestone trim. Its main facade exhibits high-quality Colonial Revival styling, with a symmetrical appearance that includes rounded bays flanking the main entry, and an entrance porch supported by clusters of distinctively turned columns. It was built c. 1895-6 by the principal owner of a local brickyard, who pioneered modernizations allowing for the year-round manufacture of bricks.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Walter Frost House is an historic house at 10 Frost Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The three story wood-frame house was built in 1807, and was originally located on Massachusetts Avenue. The Federal style house was moved to its present location in 1866 to make way for the North Avenue Congregational Church, which was moved to its site.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

St. James's Episcopal Church is an historic Episcopal church at 1991 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The parish was founded in 1864 as a mission from Christ Church. The Richardsonian Romanesque building was built in 1888–89 to a design by Henry M. Congdon. The church was built on the site of the Davenport Tavern, a landmark that had stood on that site since c. 1757 (a portion of which was relocated to Somerville, where it still stands).The church building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Homer-Lovell House is an historic house at 11 Forest Street, just outside Porter Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The two story wood-frame house was built in two sections: the main block, a fine Second Empire house, was built in 1867, when the Porter Square area was growing as a residential area because of its train station. In the 1920s the house was extended to the rear and converted into a two-family. Many houses in the area underwent this sort of conversion, most losing their historical integrity. The main block has well-preserved Second Empire features, including extended eaves with brackets, and heavily decorated front portico and projecting bay window.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The John Aborn House is an historic house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Built in 1846, it is one of west Cambridge's first examples of residential housing with Italianate features. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
