North Avenue Congregational Church

The Homer-Lovell House is an historic house at 11 Forest Street, just outside Porter Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The two story wood-frame house was built in two sections: the main block, a fine Second Empire house, was built in 1867, when the Porter Square area was growing as a residential area because of its train station. In the 1920s the house was extended to the rear and converted into a two-family. Many houses in the area underwent this sort of conversion, most losing their historical integrity. The main block has well-preserved Second Empire features, including extended eaves with brackets, and heavily decorated front portico and projecting bay window.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Walter Frost House is an historic house at 10 Frost Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The three story wood-frame house was built in 1807, and was originally located on Massachusetts Avenue. The Federal style house was moved to its present location in 1866 to make way for the North Avenue Congregational Church, which was moved to its site.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Lovell Block is an historic residential and commercial building at 1853 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The three story brick building was built in 1882 by Andrew Jackson Lovell, with two specific commercial tenants in mind. One was his own grocery business, and the other was the North Cambridge Post Office. The upper floors contained a total of four well-appointed residential flats. The building was an early instance of a mixed-use residential-commercial structure, at a time when most lower-income housing was tenement-style, and the idea of higher-quality residential rental property was relatively new.The block was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Porter is a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) transit station in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It serves the Red Line rapid transit line, the MBTA Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line, and several MBTA bus lines. Located at Porter Square at the intersection of Massachusetts and Somerville Avenues, the station provides rapid transit access to northern Cambridge and the western portions of Somerville. Porter is 14 minutes from Park Street on the Red Line, and about 10 minutes from North Station on commuter rail trains. Several local MBTA bus routes also stop at the station. A series of commuter rail depots have been located at Porter Square under various names since the 1840s. The modern station with both subway and commuter rail levels was designed by Cambridge Seven Associates and opened on December 8, 1984. At 105 feet (32 m) below ground, the subway section is the deepest station on the MBTA system. The station originally had six artworks installed as part of the Arts on the Line program; five remain, including Gift of the Wind and Glove Cycle.

The William Saunders House is an historic house at 6 Prentiss Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, three bays wide, with a front-facing gable roof. Two-story pilasters separate the bays, and there is an entablature below the fully pedimented gable. A single-story porch extends across the facade. The house was built by housewright William Saunders for his son, also named William. Originally located on Massachusetts Avenue, it was moved to its present location in 1926.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It served as a nursing home for a time in the 20th century, and is now operated as the Mary Prentiss Inn.

Prentiss House (formerly known as The Mary Prentiss Inn) has historic roots that reach as far back as 1843 and has transformed from a home on Prentiss Street to a Cambridge, Massachusetts inn. In 1843 the home was built by architect William A. Saunders as a wedding gift to his son, William, and his wife, Mary Prentiss. The home was built in the Neo-classical design during the popular Greek revival of 19th century in the United States of America. The Saunders resided at the home for 55 years. The building is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as the William Saunders House. The hotel had been a long-time home to the Saunderses and Taylor family, as well as a hostelry and nursing home. In December of 1991, a local artist, Charlotte Forsythe bought the home and began the journey of transforming the home into the Mary Prentiss Inn. In 2021, BREC LLC, a Boston-based development company, purchased the inn to update the property and to improve the guest experience while maintaining the quaint and private nature of the former inn. To this day, Prentiss House remains on the National Registry of Historic Places and is recognized as a landmark by the Cambridge Historical Commission.

Gift of the Wind is a large-scale public kinetic sculpture, by Susumu Shingu, located in Porter Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts at the Porter, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority subway and commuter rail station. The art work consists of a tall white pole with three red "wings" attached to the top that are "designed to shift in response to the movement of the wind, not only turning clockwise and counterclockwise, but tumbling over and over in various sequences." It is considered by some to be "Cambridge's most visible landmark".>

Glove Cycle is a 1984 public art installation by Mags Harries, located throughout the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Porter subway and commuter rail station in Porter Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The artwork consists of 54 separate bronze pieces and was created with a budget of US$30,000.

Porter Square is a neighborhood in Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts in the USA, located around the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Somerville Avenue, between Harvard and Davis Squares. The Porter Square station serves both the MBTA Red Line and the Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line. A major part of the Lesley University campus is located within the Porter Square area. In 2004–06 the principal intersection, including the area adjacent to the shopping center, underwent extensive construction both to improve access for vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and mass transit users, and to improve drainage and storm water conditions. The artist Toshihiro Katayama of Harvard University, in conjunction with the landscape architect Cynthia Smith, designed a new visual look for the new circulation design, including contrasting light and dark concrete paving, stone walls and boulders.

The Garfield Street Historic District is a historic district on Garfield Street between Massachusetts Ave. and Oxford Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The district encompasses a unified residential area developed between 1885 and 1891. Garfield Street was laid out in 1883, and all but three of the houses built before 1891 still stand on the street. The houses were built by different developers, and most were architect designed, and thus vary stylistically. The streetview, however, is unified by uniform lot sizes, house heights, and setbacks. Queen Anne styling predominates, with a variety of massing and roof lines; many houses have turrets and/or wraparound porches typical of that style.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Stillman Willis House is an historic house in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This 2+1⁄2-story house was built in 1839, and was originally located nearby on Massachusetts Avenue. It was moved to its present location in 1883, at which time it was extensively modernized, overlaying its Greek Revival features with Italianate and Colonial Revival styling. Surviving Greek Revival elements include corner pilasters and an entablature, while later features include bracketed window cornices and extensive decorative woodwork on the porches.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The DeRosay-McNamee House is an historic house at 50 Mt. Vernon Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It is a 2+1⁄2-story brick house, with a dormered hip roof and limestone trim. Its main facade exhibits high-quality Colonial Revival styling, with a symmetrical appearance that includes rounded bays flanking the main entry, and an entrance porch supported by clusters of distinctively turned columns. It was built c. 1895-6 by the principal owner of a local brickyard, who pioneered modernizations allowing for the year-round manufacture of bricks.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
