Casco Viejo (Spanish for Old Quarter), also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City. Completed and settled in 1673, it was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997.

The Roman Catholic Metropolitan Archdiocese of Panamá (erected 28 August 1513 as the Diocese of Santa María de La Antigua del Darién) is a Metropolitan Archdiocese, and its suffragan dioceses include Chitré, Colón-Kuna Yala, David, Penonomé and Santiago de Veraguas, as well as the Territorial Prelature of Bocas del Toro. The Diocese of Santa María de La Antigua del Darién was originally located upriver from the mouth of the Atrato River on the Gulf of Urabá in the Castilla de Oro province. The see was moved to Panama City and renamed as the Diocese of Panamá on 7 December 1520 and elevated to an archdiocese on 29 November 1925. The current Metropolitan Archbishop of Panama is Archbishop Jose Domingo Ulloa Mendieta, O.S.A.

San Felipe is a corregimiento within Panama City, in Panamá District, Panamá Province, Panama with a population of 3,262 as of 2010. Its population as of 1990 was 10,282; its population as of 2000 was 6,928.

The Metropolitan Archcathedral Basilica of Santa María la Antigua (Spanish: Catedral Basílica Santa María la Antigua de Panamá) is a Catholic church located in the old town of Panama City in Panama. It was consecrated in 1796, although construction work began in 1688, 108 years earlier. It was designed by the military engineer Nicolás Rodríguez. The archcathedral is the episcopal see of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Panama.

The Museum of History of Panama (Spanish: Museo de Historia de Panamá) is a history museum located on the ground floor of the Municipal Palace of Panama City, in the Casco Antiguo of Panama City. This was inaugurated on December 14, 1977 by the anthropologist Reina Torres de Araúz. Currently, it is administered by the Ministry of Culture of Panama. This museum is framed in the context of Panamanian history, encompassing the Colonial Period (1501 to 1821), the Union to Colombia (1821 to 1903) and the Republican Period (1903 to the present).Among its collections there are maps, plans, religious objects, the Declaration of Independence of Panama from Spain, photographs and engravings of the construction of the Panama Canal Railway, and copies of the Political Constitution of 1972, among other documents of historical value. Her most outstanding work is a replica of the first Panamanian flag, made by María Ossa de Amador, wife of one of the heroes of the Separation of Panama from Colombia, the original design of the Coat of Arms; and the first score of the National anthem of Panama.

The Panama Canal Museum (Spanish: Museo del Canal Interoceánico de Panamá) is a non-profit and public museum located in Panama City, Panama. Established in 1997, the museum is devoted to the history of the construction of the Panama Canal in its various stages, including the first French construction attempt, the later construction by the United States, and the eventual transfer to Panamanian control. The current building dates from 1874 and served originally as the headquarters of both the French and U.S. companies engaged in the construction of the canal. It is located in the city's old quarter.

Santa Ana is a corregimiento within Panama City, in Panamá District, Panamá Province, Panama with a population of 18,210 as of 2010. Its population as of 1990 was 27,657; its population as of 2000 was 21,098.

The National Institute of Panama (Spanish: Instituto Nacional de Panamá) is a school in Panama located in the district of Santa Ana in Panama City. It was the first school in Panama to offer higher education courses on its premises. Established by law on June 1, 1907, by Panama's president Manuel Amador Guerrero, it opened on April 25, 1909, in the facilities of the current Manuel José Hurtado School while construction of its own building was in progress. The engineer and Panama's future president Florencio Harmodio Arosemena constructed the school which was completed in May 1911.

5 de Mayo is a Panama Metro station on Line 1. It was one of the metro network's first 11 stations, opened on 5 April 2014 and commencing operations the following day.The station is the closest to Panama City's Old Town. It is also located closest to the Metropolitan cathedral, Cinta Costera and Oceanographic museum. In its first year of operations, 5 de Mayo was the second most used station on the network, carrying 16% of the system's users at peak times.

The Afro-Antillean Museum of Panama (Spanish: Museo Afroantillano de Panamá) simply known as the Afro-Antillean Museum or MAAP, is an ethnographic museum located in Panama City. The museum was founded on December 23, 1980, by Reina Torres de Araúz in the building of the Former Christian Mission Chapel. The building was constructed between 1909 and 1910, which was the meeting place for a group of Barbadian Protestants. It is currently administered by the Ministry of Culture of Panama, and supported by the Society of Friends of the Afro-Antillean Museum of Panama. It is in charge of spreading the Afro-Antillean culture and its contribution to Panamanian history and culture. Among its exhibits there are articles for personal use, work tools and household objects, photographs, documents and videos. It has an exhibition that explains the construction of the Christian Mission Chapel and others that show the arrival of Afro-Antilleans to Panama, their way of life and contribution to the culture of Panama.

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama (Spanish: Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Panamá), popularly called MAC Panamá, is the only museum of contemporary art that exists in Panama. It is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that has legal status and its building is located in Panama City. The institution was founded in 1962 as the Panamanian Institute of Art (Spanish: Instituto Panameño de Arte), in 1983 it became the current museum. The museum is in charge for being a cultural institution for the diffusion of knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art, promoting cultural and creative development. Its collections are made up of more than 700 works created by Panamanian and Latin American artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Way On Cemetery is a burial place in Panama City for the country's Chinese community, many of whose ancestors immigrated during the construction of the Panama Railroad in the mid-nineteenth century. The plot was purchased in 1882 by the Sociedad Way On and designed in accordance with feng shui and numerology traditions. Construction began the next year, and the first interment was in 1911. In 1942, due to a shortage of burial places in the city, half of the property was forcibly leased by the government, but it was returned to the Chinese community in 2002. Today, traditional Tomb Sweeping ceremonies are held annually and funeral ceremonies are performed regularly.Despite its stone wall enclosures and towering entrance gate, Way On has suffered from vandalism in recent years, and faces ongoing threats due to development pressures and lack of site maintenance. The site was included on the 2012 World Monuments Watch and is classified as "Rescue Needed" by Global Heritage Network.
