Västra skogen (Swedish: The Western Forest) is a station on the Blue Line of the Stockholm metro, in Huvudsta, Solna Municipality. The station was opened on 31 August 1975 as part the first stretch of the Blue Line between T-Centralen and Hjulsta. The trains were running via Hallonbergen and Rinkeby. On 18 August 1985 the extension to Rinkeby was opened, and the stretch between Hallonbergen and Rinkeby was closed for passenger traffic. It features one of the longest escalators in western Europe, 66 meters and with a vertical rise of 33 meters. This part of Huvudsta was earlier called Ingentingskogen (The Nothing Forest) after a small farm called Ingenting; the name Ingenting (Nothing) was suggested as a name for the new station, but rejected. The station has three platforms, one for trains towards Hjulsta and Akalla, and two platforms towards Kungsträdgården, to allow trains from the two branches of the line to wait in the station before the two lines merge beyond the station.

Solna centrum is a shopping mall and metro station in Solna Municipality, approximately 5 km (3.1 mi) from central Stockholm, Sweden. It is close to the Friends Arena and opened on 31 August 1975 as part the first stretch of the Blue Line between T-Centralen and Hjulsta. The mall contains around 120 stores and restaurants, 40 offices and 214 apartments.

Essingeleden is a motorway that goes from Solna to Stockholm, Sweden, crossing the westmost parts of central Stockholm, by going over Kungsholmen, Lilla Essingen, and Stora Essingen. Essingeleden has three bridges – Fredhällsbron (270 m), Essingebron (470 m), and Gröndalsbron (460 m) – and one tunnel, Fredhällstunneln (210 m), which is one of the busiest tunnels in Europe. The road is part of European route E4 and E20, and is the busiest road in Sweden, with about 150,000 vehicles per day. In August 2007 this has increased to 170,000 cars per day, because Essingeleden was then the only road through central Stockholm exempt from the Stockholm congestion tax, and because of repairs of the main road through the inner city. This has caused big traffic jams on Essingeleden and Södra länken. Since 1 January 2016, Essingeleden has been subject to the congestion tax.

Råsunda Stadium (Swedish: [ˈrôːˌsɵnːda] (listen); also known as Råsunda Fotbollsstadion, Råsundastadion, Råsunda Football Stadium or just Råsunda) was the Swedish national football stadium. It was located in Solna Municipality in Stockholm and named after the district in Solna where it is located. In November 2012 it was closed down and replaced by the newly built Friends Arena about 1 km from Råsunda Stadium. Råsunda Stadium was completely demolished in 2013 and flats and offices was built on the old ground.

Råsunda IP (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈrôːˌsɵnːda] (listen)) was a football stadium in Solna, Sweden and the former home stadium for the football team AIK before the construction of Råsunda Stadium. It was founded in 1910 and was demolished in 1937 when Råsunda Stadium was built on the existing site of the stadium

Solnahallen is a 2,000-capacity indoor arena located in Stockholm, Sweden. It serves as the home arena for the Solna Vikings. The music video for the song "The Final Countdown" by the band Europe was shot at Solnahallen on May 26 and 27, 1986. A helicopter view of the hall is included in the video. Europe's logo and the year -86 printed in big letters are visible in the shot of the roof. On September 26, 1986 Metallica played their last concert with bassist Cliff Burton at Solnahallen, one day before Burton was killed in a bus accident.

Huvudsta is a suburb of Stockholm in Solna Municipality, Sweden. In Huvudsta, near Vasastaden in Stockholm, stands the Karlberg Castle which was built in the 17th century. The Huvudsta metro station was opened in 1985 as part of the Blue line. The suburb is connected to Ulvsunda by the Huvudstabron.

Råsunda is a district in Solna Municipality, and a suburb in the Stockholm metropolitan area with around 17 500 inhabitants. The movie industry set up in the area Filmstaden, formerly an ostrich farm, in 1919-1969 (nowadays the area has homes, offices) in western Råsunda. A large football stadium (Råsunda Stadium) stood in central Råsunda 1937-2003, on the grounds of a sports field that existed from 1910. Råsunda can be reached by the Näckrosen metro station (west part), Solna centrum metro and light rail station (south edge), the commuter train and light rail Solna station (east edge) and the major road Frösundaleden (south edge). The district neighbours Storskogen and Central Sundbyberg (both in Sundbyberg Municipality) to the west, Skytteholm to the south, Hagalund to the east and Järva the north. The lake Råstasjön is located to the north.

Ekelundsbron (Swedish: "The Ekelund Bridge") is a bridge in Stockholm, Sweden. Passing over the canal Karlbergskanalen, it connects the city district Stadshagen on Kungsholmen to the northern suburb Solna. The bridge is named after the crofter's holding once found nearby called Ekelund or Eklundstorpet (ek = "oak", lund = "grove", torp = "cottage"), which also gave its name to the shanty town found here around 1880. The bridge was earlier called Karlbergsbron.Historically, the bridge was a simple wooden bridge crossing a clogged canal. When the canal was rebuilt in 1864, a 34.5-metre-long (113 ft) and 5.5-metre-wide (18 ft) steel swing bridge replaced the old bridge. A 12-metre-wide (39 ft) concrete bridge resting on concrete arches built in 1956 proved insufficient by 1969 and was thus replaced by a 24-metre-wide (79 ft) bridge.

Tomteboda is a place in northern Stockholm, Sweden, known for its mail terminal and its shunting yard. A new railway tunnel for commuters has been built between Stockholm South Station and Tomteboda.

Hagalund (pronunciation) is a residential area and railway yard in Solna Municipality, 5 km north of central Stockholm. It is known for the blue highrise buildings "Blåkulla" (Blue Hill or Blockula) which, against a rather strong and long-lasting opinion, in the beginning of the 1970s replaced a picturesque working-class and craftsman neighbourhood built in the 1890s and portrayed by artist Olle Olsson Hagalund. There are still about half a dozen old houses preserved, a minor area called Gamla Hagalund (Old Hagalund) in the eastern part of the area. It has eight large light-blue residential buildings that consist of 13 floors and an extra roof floor. The houses can be seen from Kaknästornet. Hagalund also houses Sweden's largest railway depot (sv:Hagalunds bangård) which opened in 1916 on the East Coast Line to consolidate all the previous railway depots in the Stockholm area. Hagalund is close to Solna centrum, about 1 kilometer. It is also near Haga Palace which is in Hagaparken. It is near the new Swedish national stadium Friends Arena. It is not very far away from Karolinska University Hospital. It is not far away from Huvudsta and Bergshamra, Solna.
