Broeksittard

De Baandert was a multi-use stadium in Sittard-Geleen, Netherlands. Opened in 1964 it was used mostly for football matches and hosted the home matches of Fortuna Sittard. The stadium was able to hold 22,000 people. It was closed in 1999 when Fortuna Sittard Stadion opened. The stadium hosted one international match of the Netherlands national football team: a friendly played on May 27, 1992, against Austria (3-2). The stadium also hosted the 1980 World Championships in Athletics featuring two events not included in the Summer Olympics 1980: the women's 400 metres hurdles and the women's 3000 metres run.

Selfkant (German: [ˈzɛlfkant] ; Dutch: Selfkant or Zelfkant [ˈzɛl(ə)fkɑnt]; Limburgish: Zelfkantj [ˈzæl˦əfˌkɑntʃ˦]) is a municipality in the Heinsberg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the most westerly municipality in Germany.

Sittard (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈsɪtɑrt]; Limburgish: Zitterd [ˈzɪtəʀt]) is a city in the Netherlands, situated in the southernmost province of Limburg. The town is part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen and has almost 37,500 inhabitants in 2016.In its east, Sittard borders the German municipality of Selfkant (in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia). The city centre is located at 45 m above sea level.

Sittard-Geleen (Dutch: [ˈsɪtɑrt xəˈleːn] ; Limburgish: Zittert-Gelaen [ˈzɪtəʀt xəˈlɛːn]) is a municipality in the southeastern Netherlands. It was formed in 2001 from the former municipalities Sittard, Geleen and Born. The combined municipality has approximately 92,518 inhabitants (March 2019) and is thus the second most populated municipality in Limburg (after Maastricht with 125,000 inhabitants). Since February 2020, the city has been governed by a coalition of CDA (Christian Democrats), GroenLinks (Green) and the local parties GOB and Stadspartij.The highway connecting the centres of Sittard and Geleen, the Rijkswegboulevard, has been rebuilt to be a main route for cycling and walking. The cycling and walking provision is both generous and continuous. Side road junctions, or crossroads, are made 'subordinate'. The carriageways have been narrowed to one 3m lane in each direction. Parking places have been made, in small groups, at the side of the carriageways. These are made to be 'not easy to use for larger vehicles' and so the road centre is marked as a place for delivery vehicles to stop. Tüddern safari park (German: Löwensafari und Freizeit-Park Tüddern) was a zoo and Germany's first safari park located in Selfkant.The Zoo was founded in 1968, and covered 70 hectares (173.0 acres) while in reality only 35 hectares (86.5 acres) were developed. The Safari park included lions, tigers, baboons, while the classical zoo included chimpanzee, asian elephants and hippos. The zoo was closed in 1990 due to lack of scientific management. The area is now deserted.

Sittard is a railway station located in Sittard, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1862 and is located on the Maastricht–Venlo railway and the Sittard–Herzogenrath railway. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen and Arriva. All services from South Limburg to the north pass through Sittard. Sittard has the longest railway platform in the Netherlands with a length of 700 metres.

Doenrade is a village in the southern Dutch province of Limburg. Historically its name has also been spelled Dudenrode and Doenradt and was along a main trade route between Germany and southern Limburg. Until 1982 it was a part of the municipality of Oirsbeek but was transferred to the municipality of Schinnen. In 2019 that municipality merged with Onderbanken and Nuth to form Beekdaelen. It lies about 4 km southeast of Sittard and borders the town of Hillensberg to the north. In 2010, Doenrade had 1,135 inhabitants. The area of the town is 4.6 km², and contained 460 households. Doenrade Castle, which was built around 1117, is situated on the edge of the town and is a popular place to stay for tourists visiting Limburg as it has been turned into a hotel and restaurant. The towns rolling hills, bucolic pastureland, and historic buildings make it seems to visitors that they've stepped back in time.

Munstergeleen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmʏnstərɣəˌleːn]; Limburgish: Munstergelaen [ˈmʏnstəʀɣəˌlɛːn]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Sittard-Geleen, and it lies in the Western Mine Region (Westelijke Mijnstreek in Dutch).

Nieuwstadt (Limburgish: De Nuujsjtad) (German: Neustadt) is a city in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Echt-Susteren, and lies about 5 km north of Sittard. Nieuwstadt received city rights in 1277.

Bingelrade (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɪŋəlˌraːdə]; Limburgish: Bèngelder [ˈbɛŋəldəʀ]) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Beekdaelen, and lies about 6 km southeast of Sittard.

Jabeek (Limburgish: Jaobik, English: Yescreek) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Beekdaelen, on the German border about 8 km east of Geleen. Jabeek borders on the German village Süsterseel.

Abshoven (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɑpsˌɦoː.və(n)]; Limburgish: Abshaove) is a hamlet in the municipality of Sittard-Geleen in the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. It is located to the south of Munstergeleen and to the east of Geleen. The hamlet has approximately forty houses and is located on the Abshoven and Beekstraat roads. The hamlet is dominated by the remains of the Abshoven monastery.
