Susteren is a railway station in Susteren, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1862 and is located on the Maastricht–Venlo railway, also known as Staatslijn E. Train services are operated by Arriva.

De Baandert was a multi-use stadium in Sittard-Geleen, Netherlands. Opened in 1964 it was used mostly for football matches and hosted the home matches of Fortuna Sittard. The stadium was able to hold 22,000 people. It was closed in 1999 when Fortuna Sittard Stadion opened. The stadium hosted one international match of the Netherlands national football team: a friendly played on May 27, 1992, against Austria (3-2). The stadium also hosted the 1980 World Championships in Athletics featuring two events not included in the Summer Olympics 1980: the women's 400 metres hurdles and the women's 3000 metres run.

Susteren Abbey (Dutch: Abdij van Susteren) is a former Benedictine abbey at Susteren near Roermond, in the Dutch province of Limburg, founded in the 8th century. The former abbey church is now St. Amelberga's Basilica.

Sittard is a railway station located in Sittard, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1862 and is located on the Maastricht–Venlo railway and the Sittard–Herzogenrath railway. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen and Arriva. All services from South Limburg to the north pass through Sittard. Sittard has the longest railway platform in the Netherlands with a length of 700 metres.

It was formed in 2001 from the former municipalities Sittard, Geleen and Born. The combined municipality has approximately 92,518 inhabitants (March 2019) and is thus the second most populated municipality in Limburg (after Maastricht with 125,000 inhabitants). Since February 2020, the city has been governed by a coalition of CDA (Christian Democrats), GroenLinks (Green) and the local parties GOB and Stadspartij.The highway connecting the centres of Sittard and Geleen, the Rijkswegboulevard, has been rebuilt to be a main route for cycling and walking. The cycling and walking provision is both generous and continuous. Side road junctions, or crossroads, are made 'subordinate'. The carriageways have been narrowed to one 3m lane in each direction. Parking places have been made, in small groups, at the side of the carriageways. These are made to be 'not easy to use for larger vehicles' and so the road centre is marked as a place for delivery vehicles to stop. Susteren (Dutch: [ˈsʏstərə(n)]; Limburgish: Zöstere [ˈzœstəʀə]) is a city in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Echt-Susteren, about 7 km northwest of Sittard. It was a separate municipality until 2003, when it was merged with Echt. Susteren received city right in 1276. Susteren harboured the Benedictine Abbey Susteren, that was founded in the 8th century and was closed at the end of the 18th century. Its Romanesque church was raised to the status of a basilica in 2007 by pope Benedict XVI. There is a museum ‘t Stift next to the church. Other sights are the Cannon on the market, castle Eyckholt, the mill Dieterdermolen and typical River Meuse valley farms like the Hommelhof. In 1865, Susteren railway station opened on the Maastricht to Venlo railway line.

Limbricht (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɪmbrɪxt]; Limburgish: Lömmerig [ˈlœməʀɪx] locally spelled Lömmerich) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. Part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen, it is about three kilometres northwest of Sittard. The village was first mentioned in 1224 as de Lumburg. The etymology is unclear. Limbricht developed in the Middle Ages to the south of the motte-and-bailey castle Lemborgh. In the 20th century, it developed as a mining town.Limbricht Castle possibly dates from the 10th century. The current castle dates from around 1630 and is built in a mannerist style. The eastern wing was destroyed during World War II, but rebuilt between 1968 and 1978.Limbricht was home to 554 people in 1840. was a separate municipality until 1982, when it was merged with Sittard.

Broeksittard (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbrukˌsɪtɑrt]; Limburgish: Broukzittert [ˈbʀɔwkˌsɪtəʀt]) is a former village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is now a neighbourhood of the town Sittard, and part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen. It has partly kept its village character. Broeksittard was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1942, when it was merged with Sittard by the German occupier.From 24 March to 28 March 1543 Broeksittard was almost completely destroyed during the battle for the Kemperkoul. This battle was fought between Duke Wilhelm of Jülich-Cleves-Berg and Emperor Charles V. The battle was won by Wilhelm and left over 4000 soldiers and 900 horses dead. Infuriated by his loss Charles gave permission to all his remaining soldiers to plunder the area resulting in mass rapes, murder, theft and devastation in the rest of the Gulik country.

The Fortuna Sittard Stadion (Dutch pronunciation: [fɔrˌtynaː ˈsɪtɑrt ˌstaːdijɔn]) is a 12,500-capacity multi-use stadium on the Milaanstraat, Sittard, Netherlands. Currently used mostly for football matches, it is the home stadium of Fortuna Sittard. Built on the site of an industrial estate in 1999, it replaced Fortuna Sittard's former stadium, De Baandert. There is a multi-storey car park with 800 spaces under the stadium and two parking spaces in the immediate vicinity. In 2013, they began to expand the stadion with an extra sports centrum next to it, a new hotel, a Aldi-Nord discount supermarket in the stadium and a whole new look.

Selfkant (German: [ˈzɛlfkant] ; Dutch: Selfkant or Zelfkant [ˈzɛl(ə)fkɑnt]; Limburgish: Zelfkantj [ˈzæl˦əfˌkɑntʃ˦]) is a municipality in the Heinsberg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the most westerly municipality in Germany.

Gebroek (Limburgish: Gebrook) is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is a part of the municipality of Echt-Susteren, and lies about 11 km north of Sittard. The hamlet was first mentioned around 1700 as Broich, and means "swampy land". Gebroek was home to 150 people in 1840.
