Burrard Inlet

Burrard Dry Dock Ltd. was a Canadian shipbuilding company headquartered in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Together with the neighbouring North Van Ship Repair yard and the Yarrows Ltd. yard in Esquimalt, which were eventually absorbed, Burrard built over 450 ships, including many warships built and refitted for the Royal Navy and Royal Canadian Navy in the First and Second World Wars.

Lonsdale Quay is a SeaBus ferry terminal and major transit exchange that serves Metro Vancouver's North Shore municipalities. The quay is located in the City of North Vancouver. The BCIT Marine Campus and Lonsdale Quay Market are located within the vicinity of the quay.

Ballantyne Pier (also called the Ballantyne Cruise Terminal) is a commercial and passenger dock of the Port of Vancouver, Canada, located at 851 Centennial Road. It sits at the west side of Rogers Sugar across the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks from Powell Street. Passenger terminal access is via Clark Drive or McGill Street Overpass only. In 1995, the pier was renovated to create two modern cruise ship berths: the East Berth (#1) is 366 metres (1,201 ft) and the West Berth (#2) is used as an overflow berth. The dock is equipped with two automatic gangways and a terminal building with baggage handling and customs areas.The pier stopped cruise operations at the end of 2014.

Centerm is short for Centennial Terminals, a major dock in Vancouver's East Side. It is one of four container terminals at the Port of Vancouver, the others being Vanterm, Deltaport, and Roberts Bank. Combined they handled 1.94 million containers in 2020.

North Van Ship Repair, later known as Pacific Dry Dock was a shipyard in the city of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada which built many of the Bangor-class minesweeper, Fort ships and Victory ships for Britain and Canada during World War II. Located just west of Lonsdale Avenue adjoining the Burrard Dry Dock, it was eventually absorbed into Burrard. The site was pulled down in the early 1980s and became the Lonsdale Quay and the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) building.

The Lonsdale Tunnel is a 1,640 ft (500 m) freight railway tunnel in North Vancouver, British Columbia, running under Lonsdale Avenue and parallel to Esplanade Ave between St. Georges and Chesterfield Ave. It was built by the Vancouver Harbour and Wharves Commission, from 1928 on, to separate industrial freight from traffic and street cars on Lonsdale Ave and connect the Pacific Great Eastern Railway to the new Second Narrows Bridge.

The Port of Vancouver was a port located in and round Vancouver. It was the largest port in Canada, the largest in the Pacific Northwest, and the largest port on the West Coast of North America by metric tons of total cargo, with 76.5 million metric tons. The port amalgamated with the Fraser River Port Authority and the North Fraser Port Authority in 2008 to form Port Metro Vancouver, which has now adopted the Port of Vancouver name. In terms of container traffic measured in twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), the port ranked in 2006 as the largest port in Canada, the largest in the Pacific Northwest, the fourth-largest port on the West Coast of North America, and fifth-largest in North America overall.The Port of Vancouver trades $43 billion in goods with more than 90 trading economies annually. The Vancouver Port Authority was the corporation responsible for management of the port, which, in addition to the city of Vancouver, includes all of Burrard Inlet and Roberts Bank Superport in Delta, a total of 233 kilometres (145 mi) to coastline.The Port of Vancouver is also the world hub for Canadian shipping company, Asia Pacific Marine Container Lines.

Maple Leaf Publishing was a World War II-era Canadian comic book publisher active during the Golden Age of Comic Books. They were one of four publishers—along with Anglo-American Publishing, Hillborough Studios, and Bell Features—which published "Canadian Whites"—black-and-white comic books with colour covers that proliferated during the war years when American imports were restricted. Maple Leaf Publishing started publishing comic books in March 1941 and went out of business in late 1946. In contrast to the larger Anglo-American, which published many comics drawn by Canadians but based on imported American scripts, Maple Leaf focused on home-grown scripts. Maple Leaf's first publication, Better Comics #1, is thus considered to be the first true Canadian comic book.Maple Leaf's comics were modeled on the American format, minus the colour interiors. Notable titles other than Better Comics included Big Bang Comics, Lucky Comics and Rocket Comics.

Hastings Mill was a sawmill on the south shore of Burrard Inlet and was the first commercial operation around which the settlement that would become Vancouver developed in British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1865 by Edward Stamp, the sawmill operated until its closure in 1928. The store building of Hastings Mills was moved to Alma Street in 1930, situated within present day Hastings Mill Park. The store building was opened as the Old Hastings Mill Store Museum in 1932, and houses exhibits that showcase artifacts and items of significance to Vancouver's history.

Vanterm is a container terminal in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is located on the south shore of the Burrard Inlet in Vancouver's East Side. It is operated by GCT Canada, a Vancouver-based company which also operates Deltaport another container terminal at the Port of Vancouver. Vanterm has a 619-metre (2,030 ft) berth with a depth of 15.5 metres, six ship-to-shore cranes, and is directly served by both Canadian Class 1 Railways, CN and CPKC. ILWU Local 500 and 514 make up the majority of the labour force.

Vancouver Japanese Language School (バンクーバー日本語学校, Vancouver Nihongo Gakko) is a language school located in Japantown, Vancouver, BC. Founded in 1906 as Vancouver Kyoritsu Nihon Kokumin Gakko (晩香坡共立日本國民學校, Vancouver Japanese Citizens' School), it is the oldest Japanese language school in Canada.

The Astoria Hotel is a historic hotel turned into single-room occupancy accommodations located at 769 East Hastings Street in the Downtown Eastside neighborhood of Vancouver, Canada. The hotel was opened in 1913 as the Toronto House Apartments before becoming the Astoria Hotel in 1950. The main floor of the hotel serves as a bar and events space. The hotel is currently owned by the Sahota family.
