Manhattan Township, Will County, Illinois

Will County is a county in the northeastern part of the state of Illinois. According to the 2020 census, it had a population of 696,355, an increase of 2.8% from 677,560 in 2010, making it Illinois's fourth-most populous county. The county seat is Joliet. Will County is one of the five collar counties of the Chicago–Naperville–Elgin, IL–IN–WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The portion of Will County around Joliet uses area codes 815 and 779, while 630 and 331 are for far northern Will County and 708 is for central and eastern Will County.

Manhattan (MANN-haton) is a suburb of Chicago, village in Will County, Illinois. The population was 9,385 at the time of the 2020 census. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the population to be 10,037 As of July 2021. The community is located in northeastern Illinois approximately 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Chicago.

Manhattan is a commuter railroad station on Metra's SouthWest Service located in the town of Manhattan, Illinois. The station is the southern terminus of the line. The Manhattan station opened on January 30, 2006, as part of a southern extension of the SouthWest Service. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Manhattan is in zone I and is located 40.3 miles (64.9 km) from Chicago Union Station, the northern terminus of the line. It is the southernmost station of the entire Metra system. As of 2018, Manhattan is the 227th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 19 weekday boardings. The station's rank is tied with the neighboring Laraway Road station.As of January 16, 2023, Manhattan is served by 10 trains (five in each direction) on weekdays. Three of the outbound trains that stop at the station make a flag stop to discharge all remaining passengers. All trains that serve Manhattan originate or terminate here. Saturday service is currently suspended. Manhattan station consists of a station house and one platform serving a single track; the SouthWest Service operates on only one track from Orland Park 143rd Street southward.

Wilton is located northeast of Wilton Center, Illinois, northwest of Andres and south of Frankfort. Wilton is the smallest Unincorporated community in Will County. It is smaller than Andres with a population of approximately 20 people, and at one point was simply a rail depot for the now-removed Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota line.

New Lenox is a village in central Will County, Illinois, United States. It is a southwestern suburb of Chicago and an eastern suburb of Joliet. The village population was 28,060 as of 2023. New Lenox has schools like Lincoln-Way West High School, Providence Catholic High School, and Lincoln-Way Central High School.

Lincoln-Way West High School or LWW, is a public four-year high school located about 1.5 miles south of Lincoln Highway near the intersection of Gougar Road and Illinois Highway in New Lenox, Illinois, a southwest suburb of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is the part of Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210. Students living within the Lincoln-Way boundaries of Liberty Junior High in New Lenox School District 122 and Manhattan Junior High in Manhattan School District 114 attend Lincoln-Way West.

New Lenox Township is located in the heart of Will County, Illinois, on U.S. Route 30 and Interstate 80. As of the 2010 census, its population was 40,270, and it contained 13,721 housing units. New Lenox Township has thirty-six square miles within its jurisdiction. It serves almost all of the Village of New Lenox and parts of the individual municipalities of Mokena, Homer Glen, Joliet and the entire unincorporated areas of the New Lenox community. New Lenox Township changed its name from Vernon Township on June 10, 1850. New Lenox Township provides general assistance to needy families, the fair and equal assessment of all real estate, and bridge and storm water system maintenance outside the municipality. New Lenox also provides environmental programs, mosquito abatement, transit services, senior housing, family, senior and youth service programs and the administration, maintenance and preservation of the local Marshall and Maplewood Cemeteries.

Wilton Center is an unincorporated community in southern Will County, Illinois, United States. It is located on flat land 10 miles northeast of Wilmington, 5 miles south of Manhattan, and 8 miles west of Peotone. It has a population of about 150.

The Marseilles moraine is a terminal moraine that encircles the southern tip of Lake Michigan in North America. It begins near Elgin, Illinois, and extends south and west of Chicago metropolitan area, turning eastward 30 miles (48 km) to 40 miles (64 km) south of the lake in Kankakee and Iroqouis counties, entering Indiana. It formed during the Wisconsin glaciation. The glacier had been in retreat when it stopped for an extended period, depositing glacial till and sand creating the hills of the moraine.

New Lenox is a commuter train station along Metra's Rock Island District line in New Lenox, a southern suburb of Chicago, Illinois. The station is officially located on 300 North Church Street, and lies 34.0 miles (54.7 km) away from LaSalle Street Station, the northern terminus of the line, however parking is available between Church Street and far northeast of Haven Avenue. It is also the penultimate station along the RID line before reaching the end of the line at Joliet Transportation Center. In Metra's fare-based system, New Lenox station is in zone G. As of 2018, New Lenox is the 49th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,046 weekday boardings.As of 2022, New Lenox is served by 42 trains (21 in each direction) on weekdays, by 21 trains (10 inbound, 11 outbound) on Saturdays, and by 16 trains (eight in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. New Lenox station was originally built by the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railroad in 1900. It is located just north of US 30, and is also west of a bridge that carries a former Wabash Railroad line that serves Metra's SouthWest Service line. A new station was built for that line at Laraway Road in 2006. There are no convenient transfers between these two stations. Like Laraway Road station, no bus connections are currently available.

Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 is a school district in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Created in 1951, the district serves the communities of New Lenox, Frankfort, Mokena, Manhattan, and small portions of Tinley Park, Orland Park and Homer Glen. The three schools comprising the district are Lincoln-Way Central High School, Lincoln-Way East High School, and Lincoln-Way West High School. A fourth high school, Lincoln-Way North High School, was closed at the end of the 2015–2016 school year as part of a deficit reduction plan. Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West are located in New Lenox, Lincoln-Way East is located in Frankfort and Lincoln-Way North is in Frankfort Square. District 210 offices are located at Lincoln-Way Central.
