Area code 816 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for Kansas City, St. Joseph, and all or part of 15 surrounding counties in northwestern Missouri. The numbering plan area originally comprised most of the northern and western two-thirds of the state, bordering with Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, but has been reduced to a ribbon bordering Kansas. 816 is one of the original 86 area codes created in 1947.

River Bend is a village in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 3 at the 2020 census. It is the only part of Jackson County that lies north of the Missouri River. In 1951, the Missouri River was relocated to a new channel, creating River Bend, (also known as Liberty Bend). The county line still follows the original riverbed. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The mayor is Alex Dockler.

The action at Blue Mills Landing, also known as the Battle of Liberty, was a battle of the American Civil War that took place on September 17, 1861, in Clay County, Missouri. Union forces unsuccessfully attempted to prevent pro-Southern Missouri State Guards from northwestern Missouri from crossing the Missouri River near the confluence with the Blue River to reinforce Sterling Price at Lexington.

Odd Fellows Home District is a national historic district located at Liberty, Clay County, Missouri. It encompasses three contributing buildings, one contributing site, and four contributing structures associated with an institutional home and hospital. The district developed between about 1900 and 1935, and representative examples of Tudor Revival and Jacobethan Revival architecture. The contributing buildings are the Administration Building, the Old Folks Building (1907-1908), and the Old Hospital (1923). Also on the property is the historic Odd Fellows Home Cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Liberty Bend Bridge is the common name for the two continuous truss bridges on Route 291 over the Missouri River in Sugar Creek, Missouri in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Although the bridges cross over the Missouri River, they do not cross the county line. When the Missouri River was rerouted in 1949, it cut across the northern part of Jackson County, Missouri. This left part of the county north of the river, which is known as River Bend. The original Liberty Bend Bridge was located about two miles to the north, which then crossed over into Clay County, Missouri. The main span length is 460.1 feet and the total length is 1,883.3 feet. Vertical clearance is 16.5 feet.

The Clinton House is a historic home located at Liberty, Clay County, Missouri at 404 S. Leonard Street. It was built in 1875 in the Italianate Asymmetrical style. The house consists of a two-story polygonal wing attached to a rectangular wing. The two-story veranda with railed porch and entrances for cross ventilation reflects a Southern influence. Interesting features include the stone-incised fluer-de-lis keystones. The district developed between about 1868 and 1946, and includes representative examples of Greek Revival, Queen Anne, Prairie School, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style residential architecture.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

William Jewell College is a private liberal arts college in Liberty, Missouri. It was founded in 1849 by members of the Missouri Baptist Convention and endowed with $10,000 by William Jewell. It was associated with the Missouri Baptist Convention for over 150 years until it separated in 2003 and became independent. After becoming a nonsectarian institution, the college's enrollment fell by approximately 40% to 739 students in 2018. Jewell is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Jewell Hall is a historic building located on the campus of William Jewell College at Liberty, Clay County, Missouri. It was built between 1850 and 1853, and is a three-story, modified "H"-plan, Classical Revival style brick and Missouri limestone building. The building measures 120 feet in length and 66 feet in width. It features a colonnade of square columns which spans a recessed, central portico. The interior of Jewell Hall was completely remodelled in 1946–1948.: 3–5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Glenaire is a city in Clay County, Missouri, United States. The population was 539 at the 2020 census. The city is completely surrounded by the city of Liberty. It was originally referred to as "Interurban Heights" or "Belleview" because of the interurban train that ran through the area and stopped at the Belleview depot near the Belleview Dairy. It is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area.
