Netterden

Azewijn is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland and the municipality Montferland, and is about 3 km east of the town of 's-Heerenberg. The larger part of Azewijn is known as "Groot-Azewijn" (Greater Azewijn), with the hamlet "Klein-Azewijn" (Lesser Azewijn) about 1 km to the north.Azewijn was first mentioned in 1025 as 'Asawon'; but the etymology is unclear. The village belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia before it became part of the Netherlands in 1816. Population in 1840 was 525. St Matthews Church at Azewijn was built in 1891. It was burnt down by Germans on 31 March 1945, and was rebuilt in 1950–1951.

Praest (German: Bahnhof Praest) is a railway station in Praest, Emmerich am Rhein, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It lies on the Arnhem-Oberhausen railway. The train services are operated by VIAS.

Varsselder is a Dutch village situated in the Gelderland region Achterhoek, in the municipality Oude IJsselstreek. It is situated directly to the west of Ulft and it is crossed by the road from Ulft to 's-Heerenberg (N816). The church is called Martelaren van Gorcumkerk. The village has a former windmill. Veldhunten is a smaller rural settlement close to Varsselder.

Gendringen is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek, about 12 km (7.5 mi) southeast of Doetinchem and 20 km (12 mi) northwest of the German city Bocholt. It has approximately 4400 inhabitants. In the Middle Ages, Gendringen was a fortress. Being property of the archbishop of Köln (Cologne), Gendringen was loaned to the lords living in the castle of 's-Heerenberg. In 1830, downtown Gendringen burned down for the most part. Nowadays, most of the entrepreneurs of the town are situated in the Grotestraat, which makes this street the most important street of downtown Gendringen. Gendringen was a separate municipality until 2005. Then, due to the municipal re-organization in the Achterhoek, Gendringen and Wisch joined into Oude IJsselstreek. Gendringen has two primary schools: Catholic school Christoffelschool and Christian school De Hoeksteen. On the north of the village is the industrial zone De IJsselweide, which is between Gendringen and nearby town Ulft. In the northeast of the village, there is a large park, Het Kernspark. On the east of Gendringen there is a large recreation area, Engbergen, with a forest with hiking routes, a restaurant with a large playground, an open-air theatre, a golf court, a corn mill, and a petting zoo. Gendringen can be accessed easily both by car and public transport: the nearest highway is 15 minutes away, and on weekdays, a bus drives between Gendringen and Doetinchem railway station at least every 30 minutes. Gendringen also has its own small airport suitable for ultralight aircraft approximately 2 km (1.2 mi) on the east of the village in nearby neighbourhood Voorst. Examples of events held every year in Gendringen are Amfipop, a low-budget pop festival, the village fair, the carnival and King's Day festivities, and Gast in Gendringen, an event with artists giving small concerts in several houses and small buildings throughout the village.

Etten is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek, 7 km southeast of Doetinchem. Etten was a separate municipality until 1818, when it was merged with Gendringen.

Bergh is a former municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The municipality included the villages of 's-Heerenberg, Zeddam, and Stokkum. In 2005, it merged with Didam to form the new municipality of Montferland.

Emmerich am Rhein (Low Rhenish and Dutch: Emmerik) is a city and municipality in the northwest of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city has a harbour and a quay at the Rhine. In terms of local government organization, it is a medium-sized city belonging to the district of Kleve in the administrative region (Regierungsbezirk) of Düsseldorf.

's-Heerenberg is a city on the Dutch-German border, in the Province of Gelderland, Netherlands. It is located about 5 km north of the German Emmerich, and about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) south of Doetinchem. It received city rights in 1379. 's-Heerenberg is the location of one of the most important castles of the Netherlands: Huis Bergh. The Huis Bergh contains a panel of the Archangel Gabriel from the famous altar piece Maestà by Duccio. The castle is surrounded to the west by a forest, part of the larger nature reserve Bergherbos. Mechteld ten Ham was accused of sorcery. She demanded a trial, and failed the water test, because she remained floating on the water. During torture, she confessed to being a witch, and was burnt at the stake on 25 July 1605. In 2004, a statue was revealed in her honour. In 2015, her statue was set on fire.Until 1821 's-Heerenberg was a separate municipality; it then became the administrative center of Bergh. Since 2005 it is part of the municipality of Montferland. The border canal 'Grenskanaal' constitutes the border to Germany. Industrial parks 't Goor and the Immenhorst are situated near this border. The annual Montferland Run road running competition is held in 's-Heerenberg every December. The race has been previously won by world-class runners like Haile Gebrselassie, Kenenisa Bekele, Lornah Kiplagat and Paula Radcliffe.

Oude IJsselstreek (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌʌudə ˈʔɛisəlstreːk] ) is a municipality in the eastern Netherlands. It was established on 1 January 2005 through a merger of the former municipalities Gendringen and Wisch.

Ulft (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʏl(ə)ft]) is a town in Oude IJsselstreek in the Achterhoek area in the province of Gelderland, Netherlands. The town has over 10,000 inhabitants and is the biggest town in the municipality Oude IJsselstreek. Until 1 January 2005, Ulft was part of the municipality Gendringen. At the municipal re-ordering in the Achterhoek, the municipalities Gendringen and Wisch joined to form the Oude IJsselstreek. Ulft developed out of three hamlets: Ulft, Oer and De Pol. Oer is the northern part of Ulft and is called Oer because of the iron in the earth, which is called IJzeroer in Dutch. In Ulft an iron foundry called "Diepenbrock en Reigers te Ulft" (DRU) was founded. DRU moved some years ago to Duiven and is now located at Rijksweg A12. The old DRU-building now is the DRU 'Culture Factory' and holds a library, a theatre, a restaurant and an Iron museum.

Zeddam is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality of Montferland, about 7 km south of Doetinchem. Zeddam was a separate municipality until 1821, when it was merged with Bergh.
