Assiniboine Valley Railway

Assiniboine Park (formerly known as City Park) is a park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, located along the Assiniboine River. The Winnipeg Public Parks Board was formed in 1893, and purchased the initial land for the park in 1904. Although in use before then, the park officially opened in 1909. It is named for the Assiniboine people. The park covers 1,100 acres (450 ha), of which 400 acres (160 ha) are designed in the English landscape style. The park includes the 700-acre (280 ha) Assiniboine Forest, Assiniboine Park Zoo, Assiniboine Park Conservatory, the historic Assiniboine Park Pavilion, formal and informal gardens, a sculpture garden, a miniature railway, an outdoor theatre for performing arts, and numerous other attractions.

Varsity View is one of the original neighbourhoods of the Charleswood community in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and also a part of the Assiniboine South neighbourhood cluster. In 1946, there were fewer than a hundred houses in the neighbourhood, which was mostly forest and farm fields. The bulk of the construction took place after the city of Winnipeg amalgamated with the surrounding municipalities. From 1971 to 1980, nearly 390 homes were built, accounting for 35% of the total housing stock in community.

Assiniboine Forest is a regional park in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the largest urban forest in Canada, comprising an area of over 285 hectares. It's located within the suburban area of Charleswood and is surrounded by Grant Avenue, Chalfont Road, Wilkes Avenue, and Shaftesbury Boulevard.The Forest consists of old growth aspen and oak trees, as well as wetlands; open meadows of tall-grass prairie; and a 12-acre pond. These habitats collectively include various species of plants and animals, including a resident population of white-tailed deer and nesting waterfowl. The Forest also contains 18 kilometres of maintained (paved, woodchip, and crushed limestone) multi-use trails that are accessed year-round by walkers; runners; cyclists; and in the winter; cross-country skiers. A surrounding system of paved trails connects these pathways northward to Assiniboine Park and southward to the Harte Trail.Since 1990, the Assiniboine Forest has been maintained by the Winnipeg Charleswood Rotary Club.

St. James-Assiniboia School Division (SJASD) is a school division in the St. James-Assiniboia area of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Deer Lodge Centre is a health centre specializing in geriatric care and treatment of Veterans in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The health centre began as a convalescent hospital for returning World War I soldiers in 1916 and was located in Silver Heights along west Portage Avenue. The health centre was run by Veterans Affairs Canada until 1983 when it was transferred to the province of Manitoba. The health centre continues to serve the needs of Veterans but since its transfer to Manitoba has become the province's largest in-patient rehabilitation and long term care facility with 429 beds. It also provides a variety of out-patient services. The health centre is the location of the J. W. Crane Memorial Library, the biggest collection of material on aging in Canada.

St. James-Assiniboia is a major community area in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. As it encapsulates most of the city ward of St. James, which includes the major St. James Street, the area itself is often simply referred to "St. James."Located in the far western part of the city, it is bounded on the north by the Rural Municipality of Rosser and the Canadian National Railway's Oak Point line, on the south by the Assiniboine River, on the west by the Rural Municipality of Headingley, and on the east by the Canadian Pacific Railway's La Riviere line.The area today is composed of the several municipalities that existed prior to the amalgamation of Winnipeg in 1971/1972. It began in 1886 as the Rural Municipality of Assiniboia, parts of which broke off to form the RM of St. James in 1921 and the RM of Brooklands in 1922. In 1956, the RM of St. James was incorporated as the City of St. James, absorbing Brooklands 11 years later. In 1969, St. James and Assiniboia merged into the City of St. James-Assiniboia, remaining as such until the 1972 amalgamation.

Assiniboine Park Zoo is an 80-acre (32 ha) zoo at the west end of Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It has been best known for decades for its polar bear exhibit, of which the old enclosure was replaced in 2013 with Journey to Churchill. Established in 1904, it is managed by the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, and accredited by the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

The Assiniboine Park Pavilion is a landmark building at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is today one of Winnipeg's most familiar landmarks.Among other things, the building houses the Pavilion Gallery Museum, a museum and art gallery that opened in 1998.

Marlton is one of the original neighbourhoods in the area of Charleswood in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is bordered by Roblin Boulevard, bisects Tom Chester park to the east and Grant Avenue to the south. Marlton is part of the Assiniboine South Neighbourhood Cluster. It is part of the Winnipeg electoral ward of Charleswood - Tuxedo - Westwood, the provincial electoral district of Roblin and the federal riding of Charleswood—St. James—Assiniboia—Headingley.

The Redekop School of Business is a business program at Canadian Mennonite University. It was launched on October 19, 2011. The school was made possible through a donation from the Redekop family of British Columbia. The Redekop School of Business offers a 4-year and 5-year Bachelor of Business Administration, with majors in accounting, business management, human resources management, and not-for-profit management. The school also has a 3-year and 4-year Bachelor of Arts degree program, with a major offered in business and organizational administration. It also offer a Masters in Business Administration. The Redekop School of Business provides an optional business co-op program. The school has a term of study in an international setting, to prepare students for a global business environment.

Charleswood Curling Club is located in the southwestern area of Winnipeg, in the community of Charleswood. The club was founded in 1946 as a three sheet rink, although expansion to five sheets was completed in 1956. It was the home club of the Jeff Stoughton team.

The St. James Civic Centre is a multipurpose recreation complex located in the St. James district of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The complex features an indoor ice hockey arena, swimming pool, and auditorium. Built in 1967, the St. James Civic Centre is owned and operated by the City of Winnipeg. The St. James Civic Centre arena has been one of the more prominent hockey venues in Winnipeg since its opening. With a seating capacity of 1,500, it is one of the larger arenas in the city. The facility is currently home to the St. James Canucks of the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League and local minor hockey teams. The arena is also used for sledge hockey and ringette during the winter, as well as non-sporting activities during the summer. The pool and leisure centre includes a 25-yard*** swimming pool and weight room. In addition, there is a 350-seat auditorium and two meeting rooms. The facilities are available to the public year-round.
