Assiniboine Forest

Assiniboine Park (formerly known as City Park) is a park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, located along the Assiniboine River. The Winnipeg Public Parks Board was formed in 1893, and purchased the initial land for the park in 1904. Although in use before then, the park officially opened in 1909. It is named for the Assiniboine people. The park covers 1,100 acres (450 ha), of which 400 acres (160 ha) are designed in the English landscape style. The park includes the 700-acre (280 ha) Assiniboine Forest, Assiniboine Park Zoo, Assiniboine Park Conservatory, the historic Assiniboine Park Pavilion, formal and informal gardens, a sculpture garden, a miniature railway, an outdoor theatre for performing arts, and numerous other attractions.

The Redekop School of Business is a business program at Canadian Mennonite University. It was launched on October 19, 2011. The school was made possible through a donation from the Redekop family of British Columbia. The Redekop School of Business offers a 4-year and 5-year Bachelor of Business Administration, with majors in accounting, business management, human resources management, and not-for-profit management. The school also has a 3-year and 4-year Bachelor of Arts degree program, with a major offered in business and organizational administration. It also offer a Masters in Business Administration. The Redekop School of Business provides an optional business co-op program. The school has a term of study in an international setting, to prepare students for a global business environment.

Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) is a private Mennonite university located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is affiliated with Mennonite Church Canada and the Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba. It has an enrolment of 1,607 students. The university was chartered in 1999 with a Shaftesbury campus in southwest Winnipeg, as well as Menno Simons College and a campus at the University of Winnipeg.

Assiniboine Valley Railway (AVR) was a private 1:8th (1.6" to the foot) scale ridable miniature railway located in the community of Charleswood near Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The track gauge is 7+1⁄2 in (190.5 mm). Construction started in 1995 and operation began in the fall of 1996. A train station was eventually built along the track, and opened on time for a convention in May, 2000. The railway is owned and operated by the 23-member Assiniboine Valley Railway Club, Inc., with some of the equipment privately owned by members. The railway club president and owner of the land was Bill Taylor until his death in 2013. Presidency then transferred to vice president and co-founder Len La Rue. The network of tracks and "Charleswood Station" was located on Taylor's private 7-acre (2.8 ha) family property.AVR was open to the public for riding during the second weekend of the month between June and October. As of April 2012 the railway had nine operating locomotives, including three steam locomotives and 53 cars, with eight more cars under construction. In the span of 26 years, the club laid more than 6,000 feet (1,800 m) of track.During the COVID-19 pandemic, the club had to close to the public as a result of provincial public health orders. In April 2021, the family of AVR's late founder requested that the railway club vacate the property within six months.

Shaftesbury High School is a public high school located in the Tuxedo neighbourhood of Winnipeg, Manitoba. It has a population of 750 students from Tuxedo, Charleswood, and Linden Woods. They are included in the Pembina Trails School Division's International Student Program (ISP) and recently acquired the RHA Nationals Boys Hockey Team.The school opened in September 1968.

Assiniboine Park Zoo is an 80-acre (32 ha) zoo at the west end of Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It has been best known for decades for its polar bear exhibit, of which the old enclosure was replaced in 2013 with Journey to Churchill. Established in 1904, it is managed by the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, and accredited by the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Varsity View is one of the original neighbourhoods of the Charleswood community in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and also a part of the Assiniboine South neighbourhood cluster. In 1946, there were fewer than a hundred houses in the neighbourhood, which was mostly forest and farm fields. The bulk of the construction took place after the city of Winnipeg amalgamated with the surrounding municipalities. From 1971 to 1980, nearly 390 homes were built, accounting for 35% of the total housing stock in community.

Tuxedo is a provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was created by redistribution in 1979, and has formally existed since the provincial election of 1981. The riding is located in the southwest section of the city of Winnipeg. Tuxedo is bordered to the east by River Heights, to the south by Charleswood and Fort Whyte, to the north by St. James, and to the west by Charleswood. The riding's population in 1996 was 20,095. The average family income in 1999 was $89,350, almost $40,000 above the provincial average. The unemployment rate was 5.60%. Tuxedo has a significant Jewish population, at 8% of the total. Over 17% of the riding's residents are above 65 years of age, and over 28% have University degrees. Health and social services account for 16% of Tuxedo's industry, with a further 14% in the service sector. Tuxedo has been represented by Progressive Conservative MLAs since its creation. Both of which went on to become Premiers of the province. Former Premier Gary Filmon represented the riding between 1981 and his retirement in 2000. The current MLA is PC Party leader and Premier of Manitoba, Heather Stefanson.

The Assiniboine Park Pavilion is a landmark building at Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is today one of Winnipeg's most familiar landmarks.Among other things, the building houses the Pavilion Gallery Museum, a museum and art gallery that opened in 1998.

St. Paul's High School is a Jesuit Roman Catholic all-boys university preparatory high school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The school has approximately 600 students attending and has an active 12,000+ alumni community.

Deer Lodge Centre is a health centre specializing in geriatric care and treatment of Veterans in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The health centre began as a convalescent hospital for returning World War I soldiers in 1916 and was located in Silver Heights along west Portage Avenue. The health centre was run by Veterans Affairs Canada until 1983 when it was transferred to the province of Manitoba. The health centre continues to serve the needs of Veterans but since its transfer to Manitoba has become the province's largest in-patient rehabilitation and long term care facility with 429 beds. It also provides a variety of out-patient services. The health centre is the location of the J. W. Crane Memorial Library, the biggest collection of material on aging in Canada.

Tuxedo is a residential suburb of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Prior to 1972, the community was incorporated as the Town of Tuxedo. Today, it is the wealthiest area of Winnipeg, with the highest property values. It is located about 7 kilometres (4.5 miles) southwest of downtown Winnipeg and borders the Assiniboine River and Assiniboine Park on the north, Assiniboine Forest on the west, and Edgeland Boulevard to the east. It is also bordered by Kenaston Boulevard and Taylor Avenue, the latter street being named after Frank Trafford Taylor, who was a prominent resident of Tuxedo. It is part of the city ward of Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood, as well as belonging to the provincial electoral district of Tuxedo, and the federal electoral district of Winnipeg South Centre.
