London Borough of Harrow

Harrow on the Hill is a locality and historic village in the borough of Harrow in Greater London, England. The name refers to Harrow Hill, 408 feet (124 m), and is located some half a mile south of the modern town of Harrow. The village dates back to early medieval times, built around the 11th-century St Mary's Church, and is the location of Harrow, St Dominic's and John Lyon schools .

Harrow School () is a public school (English independent boarding school for boys) in Harrow on the Hill, Greater London, England. The school was founded in 1572 by John Lyon, a local landowner and farmer, under a Royal Charter of Queen Elizabeth I. Harrow's history and influence have made it one of the most prestigious schools in the world.The school has an enrollment of about 820 boys, all of whom board full-time, in twelve boarding houses. It is one of the original nine public schools listed in the 1868 parliament act, and a member of the prestigious Rugby Group schools. With Eton College and Radley College, Harrow retains status of an all-boy, full-boarding school. Harrow's uniform includes morning suits, straw boater hats, top hats and canes. Its list of distinguished alumni includes seven former British Prime Ministers: Aberdeen, Perceval, Goderich, Peel, Palmerston, Baldwin and Churchill, as well as the former Indian Prime Minister, Jawarhalal Nehru; numerous former and current members of both Houses of the UK Parliament, several members of various royal families, three Nobel Prize winners, twenty Victoria Cross holders and many prominent figures in the arts and sciences.

The Harrow School bombing happened on 24 October 1974, when the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) bombed Peterborough Cottage, a three-storey former caretaker's house in the grounds of Harrow School. A warning was given and there were no deaths or injuries.

Harrow on the Hill was an urban district in Middlesex, England from 1894 to 1934.It was created under the Local Government Act 1894. This Act split the historic parish of Harrow on the Hill several ways, with parts becoming the new parishes of Harrow Weald, Wealdstone and Wembley. The remaining part of the parish formed Harrow on the Hill urban district. It took in 101 acres (0.41 km2) from the disbanded parish of Northolt in 1928. In 1934 the district was abolished by a County Review Order, becoming part of the new Harrow Urban District; a precursor of the London Borough of Harrow.

Uxenden Hall or Uxendon Hall was an English manor house near Harrow-on-the-Hill. In the sixteenth century it was inhabited by the Bellamy family.

Sudbury Hill Harrow railway station is a National Rail station on the Chiltern Main Line in the London Borough of Harrow in northwest London. The station is served by Chiltern Railways trains from Marylebone towards High Wycombe and Birmingham Snow Hill, and is in Travelcard Zone 4. This station also has an Oyster card facility located at the entrance and exit. The station is situated between Northolt Park and Sudbury & Harrow Road stations. The station is close to Sudbury Hill Underground station on the Piccadilly line.

St Dominic's Sixth Form College is highly academic, selective Roman Catholic sixth form college on Harrow on the Hill, England founded in 1878, originally founded as a boarding school. The college was opened and initiated by Cardinal Hume. The college was awarded ’Sixth Form college of the year’ from The Times newspaper in 2017.

The Grove (), is a boarding house for Harrow School, in Harrow on the Hill, Greater London, England. The Grove was converted into a boarding house in 1820 and is a Grade II listed building. It was constructed on the site of a rectory manor to St Mary's Church, Harrow on the Hill which was built around 1094. The original construction date is unclear, but according to its listed building entry, it dates back to the mid-18th century.

The Castle is a Grade II listed public house at West Street, Harrow-on-the-Hill, London.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.The Castle can trace its roots back as far as 1716. The current building dates back to 1901. The building has Heritage status, with several listed features.

St Mary's, Harrow on the Hill, is the Borough and Parish Church at Harrow on the Hill in northwest London, England. It is a Grade I-listed building.

Sudbury Hill is a London Underground station on the Uxbridge branch of the Piccadilly line. The station is between Sudbury Town and South Harrow, and is in Travelcard Zone 4. It is located on Greenford Road (A4127) north of the junction with Whitton Avenue, on the border between the London Boroughs of Harrow and Ealing. The station is close to Sudbury Hill Harrow railway station.

Orley Farm School is one of the largest coeducational preparatory day school in the London borough of Harrow, at the foot of Harrow Hill on South Hill Avenue. It was founded as the preparatory school for the nearby Harrow School in 1850 but is now a fully independent school in its own right and leavers continue to other independent schools. The school grounds cover over 39 acres (160,000 m2).
