Wormwood Scrubs

Fulham Irish GAA Club is a Gaelic Football and Hurling Club who play on Wormwood Scrubs in West London. Fulham Irish GAA hold the unique status of being the only club in London to offer dual players Senior Football & Senior Hurling. It is a unique achievement for a Club that was established in 2006 & only formed a hurling team as recently as 2011. The Fulham Irish Hurling Team defeated Granuaille in the London Intermediate Championship Final in 2012 to gain promotion to the top tier of London Hurling. The team completed a remarkable journey for the club by joining the Senior ranks of the London Hurling fraternity in only their 2nd year of existence. Managed by Dublin Man, Anthony Scullion, they won the London Intermediate Championship at the second time of asking. They had lost the final by the narrowest of margins in their first year in 2011. The Fulham Irish Footballers won the London Intermediate Championship in their first attempt in 2006 after the London County Board allowed them to enter a team in Intermediate Competitions. The team went on to win the British Provincial title in the same year. The Footballers progressed to win every domestic honour in London culminating with their first Senior Championship win on 16 October 2011. The Fulham Irish Ladies Team was established in 2008 and like the footballers has progressed rapidly through the ranks and now sits comfortably at the top table. The Ladies team won the London Junior Championship in 2010 & followed up with the Intermediate Championship in 2011. The Ladies team won no fewer than 4 domestic cups in 2011.

The Linford Christie Stadium is an athletics stadium in Wormwood Scrubs, West London, England. The venue first opened as the West London Stadium in 1967. It initially had a cinder running track, which was upgraded to a synthetic surface in 1973. In 1993 the stadium was renamed after Olympic 100 metres gold medallist Linford Christie,: 35  who often trained at the venue with the Thames Valley Harriers. The stadium was redeveloped further between 2004 and 2006, when additional facilities for sports including football, rugby and hockey were installed. The work was funded by London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, the Football Foundation, Chelsea F.C. and Barclays. Chelsea players John Terry and Shaun Wright-Phillips attended the re-opening. The video for "So Many Roads" by Example was filmed here in 2007.

Old Oak Common is an area of Hammersmith, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, West London. Together with neighbouring Park Royal, the area is intended to become the UK's largest regeneration scheme, the scale of which has led to Park Royal and Old Oak Common being described as a potential "Canary Wharf of West London".The area is traditionally known for its railway depots, particularly Old Oak Common TMD. Further south lies an open area, Wormwood Scrubs Park, and Wormwood Scrubs prison. Willesden Junction station lies to the north of the area. In the mid-19th century it was a centre for pig farming.

HM Prison Wormwood Scrubs (nicknamed "The Scrubs") is a Category B men's local prison, located opposite Hammersmith Hospital and W12 Conferences on Du Cane Road in the White City in West London, England. The prison is operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service.

Hammersmith Hospital, formerly the Military Orthopaedic Hospital, and later the Special Surgical Hospital, is a major teaching hospital in White City, West London. It is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, and is associated with the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine. Confusingly the hospital is not in Hammersmith but is located in White City adjacent to Wormwood Scrubs and East Acton.

Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital is one of the oldest maternity hospitals in Europe, founded in 1739 in London. Until October 2000, it occupied a site at 339–351 Goldhawk Road, Hammersmith, but is now located between East Acton and White City, adjacent to the Hammersmith Hospital. It is managed by the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The Medical Research Council (MRC) London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) (formerly MRC Clinical Sciences Centre) is a biomedical research institute based in West London, UK. Research at the institute focuses on the understanding of the molecular and physiological basis of health and disease. The LMS was established in 1994 and receives core funding from the Medical Research Council like the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge University. The institute is hosted by Imperial College London at the Hammersmith Hospital., and is part of the Institute of Clinical Sciences (ICS), a department in the Imperial College London, Faculty of Medicine. It has been led by Amanda Fisher since 2008.

North Pole depot (also known as North Pole Train Maintenance Centre) is a railway and maintenance depot built for Great Western Railway's AT300 units from the Hitachi A-train family. Located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, the depot was partially redeveloped by Agility Trains from 2013 as a maintenance site when they were awarded the Intercity Express Programme.

West London Junction railway station served the city of London, England, in 1844 on the West London Railway.

The Shepherd's Bush murders, also known as the Massacre of Braybrook Street, involved the murder of three police officers in London by Harry Roberts and two others in 1966.The officers had stopped to question the three occupants of a car waiting on Braybrook Street, near Wormwood Scrubs prison. Roberts shot dead Temporary Detective Constable David Wombwell and Detective Sergeant Christopher Head, whilst John Duddy, another occupant in the vehicle, shot dead Police Constable Geoffrey Fox. The three went on the run, initiating a large manhunt. All three were eventually arrested and subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment. Duddy died in prison in 1981. John Witney, the driver of the criminals' vehicle, was also convicted of the murders; he was released from prison in 1991 but was killed in 1999 in an unconnected incident. Roberts became one of the longest-serving prisoners in the country, serving 48 years before his controversial release in 2014. Public sympathy for the families of the victims resulted in the establishment of the Police Dependants' Trust to assist the welfare of families of British police officers who have died in the line of duty.

Mitre Bridge Exchange was a railway station in Old Oak Common in the parish of Hammersmith, Middlesex, England, which was opened on 27 May 1844 but closed on 1 December 1844. It was formed of high-level and low-level platforms. The two low-level platforms were located between Paddington and Ealing Broadway, whereas the high-level station had one platform on the West London Line. It was closed when the West London Line was relocated further west and the original line was closed to passengers on 1 December 1844 and to goods in 1860.

The Royal Postgraduate Medical School (RPMS) was an independent medical school, based primarily at Hammersmith Hospital in west London. In 1988, the school merged with the Institute of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and in 1997 became part of Imperial College School of Medicine.
