Denton County is located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 906,422, making it the seventh-most populous county in Texas. The county seat is Denton. The county, which was named for John B. Denton, was established in 1846. Denton County constitutes part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. In 2007, it was one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States.

Medical City Denton, (formerly Denton Regional Medical Center) or Denton Regional, is a hospital operated by Hospital Corporation of America and is located at 3535 South Interstate 35, southeast of downtown Denton, Texas. It houses 208 beds, and employs more than 850 employees and 300 physicians. Denton Regional serves patients from Denton, Wise, Cooke and Montague Counties. Denton Regional was the first facility in Denton County to earn accreditation as a Level II Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC). Medical City Denton is a Magnet accredited facility and an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.

MedPark station is a commuter rail station in Denton, Texas serving the A-train line. It is east of Interstate 35E and serves Denton Regional Medical Center and a major retail area surrounding Golden Triangle Mall in Denton. MedPark station is currently the penultimate A-train station.

Texas' 26th congressional district of the United States House of Representatives includes rural Cooke County to the north and some of Wise County to the West and includes parts of Denton County, including Flower Mound, Lewisville and parts of Corinth, Carrollton, Little Elm and The Colony. The current Representative is Michael C. Burgess. The district is best known as the seat of former House Majority Leader Dick Armey.

Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center (formerly Downtown Denton Transit Center) is a multimodal transit center that provides DCTA bus and A-train commuter rail connections in Denton, Texas. It is east of the Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square and is the northern terminus of the A-train. In 2013, the station was renamed to honor Euline Brock, former mayor of Denton from 2000 to 2006. The Euline Brock Downtown Denton Transit Center station is one of two stations within Denton, along with Medpark Station; the other three are in Lewisville.

A Texas land grant led to the formation of Denton County in 1846, and the city was incorporated in 1866. Both were named after pioneer and Texas militia captain John B. Denton. The arrival of a railroad line in the city in 1881 spurred population, and the establishment of the University of North Texas in 1890 and Texas Woman's University in 1901 distinguished the city from neighboring regions. After the construction of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport finished in 1974, the city had more rapid growth; as of 2011, Denton was the seventh-fastest growing city with a population of over 100,000 in the country. Located on the far north end of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex in North Texas on Interstate 35, Denton is known for its active music scene; the North Texas State Fair and Rodeo, Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, and Thin Line Fest attract over 300,000 people to the city each year. The city has hot, humid summers and few extreme weather events. Its diverse citizenry is represented by a nonpartisan city council, and numerous county and state departments have offices in the city. With over 45,000 students enrolled at the two universities within its city limits, Denton is often characterized as a college town. As a result of the universities' growth, educational services play a large role in the city's economy. Residents are served by the Denton County Transportation Authority, which provides commuter rail and bus service to the area.

The Denton Confederate Soldier Monument was an outdoor Confederate memorial installed in downtown Denton, Texas, in the United States.

The Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square is the former courthouse of Denton County located in the county seat Denton, Texas. The Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square was constructed in 1896. In addition to county offices, the "Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum" also calls it home. The courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The Courthouse is also the final resting place of John B. Denton, the county's and city's namesake. In 1918, a monument to Confederate Soldiers was gifted to Denton by the local chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and placed on the grounds of the Courthouse-on-the-Square. The monument was titled "Our Confederate Soldiers" and contained separate drinking water fountains at the base, with one side etched "whites" and the other "colored." The monument was removed on June 23, 2020, following decades of protest urging its removal, with the Denton County Commissioners citing the safety of the artifact as the reason for it being removed.

The Denton Community Theatre was a local theatre company located in Denton, Texas in the United States. It serves as one of the oldest community theatres in the North Texas area having been in existence since 1969. It is located at the historic Campus Theatre on West Hickory Street. In 2020, it merged with another local theatre company (Music Theatre of Denton) to form a new company - Theatre Denton. Throughout the Denton community, people, businesses, and educators are working together to better implement the arts into the Northern Texas area. The goal is to develop a more livable community by supporting the growth and more responsive use of artistic and cultural resources that exist in Denton.

The Pioneer Woman statue is a work created by sculptor Leo Friedlander. It is located at the Texas Woman's University (TWU) in Denton, Texas, United States, and was commissioned as part of the Texas Centenary celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of Texas Independence from Mexico. The sculpture was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018.

Billy Ryan High School (Ryan or RHS) is a public high school located in east Denton, Texas. It is the second high school of the Denton Independent School District and classified as a 5A school by the UIL. The original building for the school was built in 1991 and was followed with expansions in 1994, 2006, 2008/2009, and 2022 that added more space for the pre-existing technology and fine arts programs.

Texas Woman's University (TWU) is a public coeducational university in Denton, Texas, with two health science center-focused campuses in Dallas and Houston. While TWU has been fully co-educational since 1994, it is the largest state-supported university primarily for women in the United States. The university is part of the Texas Woman's University System. It offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in 60 areas of study across six colleges.
