HM Prison Nottingham is a Category B men's prison, located in the Sherwood area of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England. The prison is operated by Her Majesty's Prison Service.

Nottingham Free School is a co-educational free school which serves the areas of Sherwood, Carrington, Mapperley Park, Woodthorpe and Mapperley. The school is located in a former factory —the Courtaulds building— on Haydn Road and first opened in September 2014 with an intake of seventy-nine Year 7 students, a number which has grown to nearly 600 pupils ranging from Year 7 to Year 13. In August 2019, the first group of students to join the school received their GCSE results.

Bagthorpe Gardens is a group of allotments, about 1.8 miles (2.9 km) north-east of the centre of Nottingham. It is listed Grade II* in Historic England's Register of Parks and Gardens. The entry listing remarks that the allotments are "a significant surviving example of a once abundant but now extremely rare type of garden, of which there are only four other registered examples".

Bestwood Estate is a large council estate located to the north of the city of Nottingham, England. Based on the 2011 census, its population is 4,719. There is also a ward of the City of Nottingham called Bestwood, which at the time of the 2011 census had a population of 16,753.

New Basford railway station was a station in Nottingham on the Great Central Railway main line, the last main line to be built from the north of England to London. The station opened with the line on 15 March 1899.

Sherwood () is a large district and ward of the city of Nottingham, in the English ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Nottingham city centre. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 15,414. It is bordered by Woodthorpe to the northeast, Mapperley to the east, Carrington to the south, New Basford and Basford to the west, and Daybrook and Bestwood to the north. It is well known for its forest, Sherwood Forest, the place Robin Hood was said to live.

Carrington is a small suburb of Nottingham, England, located approximately 1.3 miles (2.1 km) north of Nottingham city centre. It lies next to the areas of Sherwood, Mapperley, Forest Fields, Basford, Sherwood Rise and the Forest Recreation Ground.

Miss Cullen's Almshouses in Carrington, Nottingham is a complex of 12 almshouses erected in 1882-83. They are also known as the Cullen Memorial Homes. The architects were Evans and Jolley. The work was supervised by William Roberts of Acacia House, Beeston, with the practical part in the hands of Mr. Ball. The sub-contractors for stone work were Mr. Bishop of Nottingham and for plastering Messrs. Clarke Bros., of Nottingham. They were paid for by Miss Elizabeth Cullen and Miss Marianne Cullen of Park Valley, Nottingham, in memory of their brother James Cullen, who died in 1878. The endowment provided the occupants with an income of 4s. 6d. (equivalent to £23.17 in 2020) a month.The almshouses are maintained by the Miss Cullen's Almshouses Charity (217572).

St. John the Evanglist, Carrington is a parish church in the Church of England in Carrington, Nottingham. The church is Grade II listed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as it is a building of special architectural or historic interest.

Basford is a northerly suburb of Nottingham, England, incorporated into the city in 1877. It gave its name to Basford Rural District, which existed from 1894 to 1974. The ward population at the 2011 census was 16,207, estimated at 16,779 in 2019. Next to Old Basford is New Basford, which is mainly Victorian. Basford lies close to the River Leen, a tributary of the River Trent. It is linked to Nottingham City Centre to the south and Hucknall and Bulwell to the north by the Nottingham Express Transit tram service.
