Carrington is a small suburb of Nottingham, England, located approximately 1.3 miles (2.1 km) north of Nottingham city centre. It lies next to the areas of Sherwood, Mapperley, Forest Fields, Basford, Sherwood Rise and the Forest Recreation Ground.

Nottingham Free School is a co-educational free school which serves the areas of Sherwood, Carrington, Mapperley Park, Woodthorpe and Mapperley. The school is located in a former factory —the Courtaulds building— on Haydn Road and first opened in September 2014 with an intake of seventy-nine Year 7 students, a number which has grown to nearly 600 pupils ranging from Year 7 to Year 13. In August 2019, the first group of students to join the school received their GCSE results.

Carrington Baptist Church was a Baptist church on Sherbrooke Road, Carrington, Nottingham which was opened in 1883.

St. John the Evanglist, Carrington is a parish church in the Church of England in Carrington, Nottingham. The church is Grade II listed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport as it is a building of special architectural or historic interest.

Miss Cullen's Almshouses in Carrington, Nottingham is a complex of 12 almshouses erected in 1882-83. They are also known as the Cullen Memorial Homes. The architects were Evans and Jolley. The work was supervised by William Roberts of Acacia House, Beeston, with the practical part in the hands of Mr. Ball. The sub-contractors for stone work were Mr. Bishop of Nottingham and for plastering Messrs. Clarke Bros., of Nottingham. They were paid for by Miss Elizabeth Cullen and Miss Marianne Cullen of Park Valley, Nottingham, in memory of their brother James Cullen, who died in 1878. The endowment provided the occupants with an income of 4s. 6d. (equivalent to £23.17 in 2020) a month.The almshouses are maintained by the Miss Cullen's Almshouses Charity (217572).

Sherwood Rise is a residential area in the north of the city of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. It is bordered by Carrington, Basford, Forest Fields and Sherwood.

New Basford railway station was a station in Nottingham on the Great Central Railway main line, the last main line to be built from the north of England to London. The station opened with the line on 15 March 1899.

The Norris Almshouses were erected in 1893 on Berridge Road in Sherwood Rise, Nottinghamshire. They comprise a row of eight one-bedroom houses for Ladies, designed by the architect Fothergill Watson and paid for by Mary Smith Norris (1827-1909) in 1893 in memory of her brother John Norris. The charity objectives were to provide a residence available for poor widows or spinsters or married couples of not less than 60 years of age resident in the City of Nottingham or within a distance of 6 miles therefrom. Preferences shall be given to persons so qualified who are members of the Church of England or some orthodox Protestant dissenting denomination. A restoration in 1991 included the manufacture of hand-cut bricks, a terracota dragon for the roof ridge and a specially commissioned weather cock and sundial. The almshouses are now managed by Nottingham Community Housing Association and the Norris Homes Charity (236206) which formerly managed the properties was wound up in 2008.

Carrington railway station was a railway station in Nottingham on the Great Central Railway main line, the last main line to be built from the north of England to London. The station opened with the line on 15 March 1899, and served the Nottingham suburb of Carrington until 1928.

Redcliffe Road Methodist Church was a Methodist church on Redcliffe Road, Nottingham from 1884 until 1969.

Sherwood () is a large district and ward of the city of Nottingham, in the English ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire. It is situated approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Nottingham city centre. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 census was 15,414. It is bordered by Woodthorpe to the northeast, Mapperley to the east, Carrington to the south, New Basford and Basford to the west, and Daybrook and Bestwood to the north. It is well known for its forest, Sherwood Forest, the place Robin Hood was said to live.
