Masonboro Sound Historic District is a national historic district located near Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 22 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, 8 contributing structures, and 1 contributing object near Wilmington. The district developed during the 19th and early-20th century and includes notable examples of Italian Renaissance and Colonial Revival style architecture. There are 10 contributing dwellings and 13 contributing outbuildings. Notable dwellings include the Carr-Ormand House (1932), Willard-Sprunt-Woolvin House (1880), Cazaux-Williams-Crow House (Halcyon Hall, 1877, 1880s, 1937), Parsley-Love House (Hickory Hill, 1885, 1912), Live Oaks (1913), Taylor-Bissinger House (1937), the "Doll House" (1924), and Hill-Anderson Cottage (c. 1835).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Masonboro was a census-designated place (CDP) in New Hanover County, North Carolina. The last census count in 2000 was 11,812. Masonboro was located southeast of Wilmington near the Atlantic coast.

Hewletts Creek is a stream in New Hanover County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is the only stream of its name in the United States. Hewletts Creek was named for a family of settlers.

Seagate was a census-designated place (CDP) in New Hanover County, North Carolina, United States. The last census count in 2000 was 4,590. It was annexed by the city of Wilmington in 1998.

The North Carolina Azalea Festival is an annual community festival in Wilmington, North Carolina. The largest festival of its kind in the state, it was founded in 1948, and takes place in April.

Cape Fear Academy is a private, coeducational PK3–12 school in Wilmington, North Carolina that was established on September 11, 1967 as a segregation academy. It was named for Cape Fear Military Academy, an independent school for boys in Wilmington that operated from 1868 until 1916. The present school's first class graduated in 1971.

John T. Hoggard High School is a public high school in the New Hanover County School System in Wilmington, North Carolina.

New Hanover County Arboretum - NC Cooperative Extension is a 7-acre arboretum at 6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum was formally opened in 1989, and is still under development. It currently contains 33 gardens including an aquatic garden, children's garden, herb garden, Japanese garden, and rose garden. It is said to contain more than 4,000 varieties of native and naturalized plants, with many of its original plants given by J. C. Raulston, North Carolina State University horticulturist and namesake for the JC Raulston Arboretum.

The estuarine system of the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve is the third largest in the country, encompassing more the 10,000 acres (4,000 ha). This system is of prime economic importance to the coastal area—90 percent of the commercial seafood species caught in the state spends at least part of their lives in an estuary. The North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve was established to preserve these fragile natural areas and the variety of life they support. The state is representative of two major biogeographic regions located north (Virginian) and south (Carolinian) of Cape Hatteras. Therefore, NOAA and the state of North Carolina created a multi-component reserve with the following sites: Currituck Banks (960 acres near Corolla), Rachel Carson (2,625 acres near Beaufort), Masonboro Island (5,097 acres near Wrightsville Beach) and Zeke's Island (1,165 acres near Kure Beach).

Isaac Bear Early College High School, also called Isaac Bear, is a selective-enrollment school at 630 MacMillan Avenue, Wilmington, North Carolina. The premises are situated on UNCW campus and were founded in the auditorium of Annie H. Snipes Elementary school in the year 2006. New Hanover County Schools operates this school with the support of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the Gates Foundation. Students must apply to attend this school; no more than 100 submissions are accepted per year. As of the 2008–2009 school year, only 62–63 students were accepted. The program allows for students to work and earn up to 60 college credits, which, on average, are worth about $15,210. "As a partner in the North Carolina University System and the North Carolina New Schools Project, Isaac Bear Early College High School provides an accelerated, college-ready education by cultivating an environment of mature scholarship and leadership."

Brooks Field is a stadium located on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington in Wilmington, North Carolina. Brooks Field is the home of the UNC Wilmington Seahawks baseball team and has hosted the Colonial Athletic Association baseball tournament a number of times (1989–90, 1993, 2004–11, 2014, 2017). The ballpark has a capacity of 3,500 people and first opened in 1989. In 2014 UNCW broke the 2009 record attendance of 3,608 (vs North Carolina) with 3,826 people (vs. #1 Virginia).

UNCW Soccer Stadium is a 3,000-capacity stadium located in Wilmington, North Carolina. The stadium is home to the University of North Carolina Wilmington Seahawks men's and women's soccer teams.
