Masonboro Sound Historic District

Hewletts Creek is a stream in New Hanover County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is the only stream of its name in the United States. Hewletts Creek was named for a family of settlers.

New Hanover County is one of 100 counties located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 225,702. Though the second-smallest NC county in land area, it is one of the most populous, as its county seat, Wilmington, is one of the state's largest cities. The county was created in 1729 as New Hanover Precinct and gained county status in 1739. New Hanover County is included in the Wilmington, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area, which also includes neighboring Pender County.

Seagate was a census-designated place (CDP) in New Hanover County, North Carolina, United States. The last census count in 2000 was 4,590. It was annexed by the city of Wilmington in 1998.

The North Carolina Azalea Festival is an annual community festival in Wilmington, North Carolina. The largest festival of its kind in the state, it was founded in 1948, and takes place in April.

New Hanover County Arboretum - NC Cooperative Extension is a 7-acre arboretum at 6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum was formally opened in 1989, and is still under development. It currently contains 33 gardens including an aquatic garden, children's garden, herb garden, Japanese garden, and rose garden. It is said to contain more than 4,000 varieties of native and naturalized plants, with many of its original plants given by J. C. Raulston, North Carolina State University horticulturist and namesake for the JC Raulston Arboretum.

Masonboro Inlet is an inlet in New Hanover County, North Carolina, separating the town of Wrightsville Beach from Masonboro Island. The inlet was used as a hideout by Confederate blockade runners during the Civil War. The blockade runners would hide in the inlet until nightfall, then sail to the nearby port of Wilmington in the cover of darkness.

The estuarine system of the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve is the third largest in the country, encompassing more the 10,000 acres (4,000 ha). This system is of prime economic importance to the coastal area—90 percent of the commercial seafood species caught in the state spends at least part of their lives in an estuary. The North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve was established to preserve these fragile natural areas and the variety of life they support. The state is representative of two major biogeographic regions located north (Virginian) and south (Carolinian) of Cape Hatteras. Therefore, NOAA and the state of North Carolina created a multi-component reserve with the following sites: Currituck Banks (960 acres near Corolla), Rachel Carson (2,625 acres near Beaufort), Masonboro Island (5,097 acres near Wrightsville Beach) and Zeke's Island (1,165 acres near Kure Beach).

Bradley-Latimer Summer House is a historic home located at Wrightsville Beach, New Hanover County, North Carolina. It was built about 1855, and is a picturesque, two-story, three bays wide by two bays deep, hipped-roof dwelling. It features a broad, one-story veranda encompassing the entire structure.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

Mount Lebanon Chapel and Cemetery, also known as Lebanon Chapel, is a historic Episcopal chapel and cemetery located on the grounds of Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina. It was built about 1835, and is a one-story, three bay by three bay, gable-roofed, rectangular building in a vernacular Greco-Gothic. It measures 26 feet wide and 37 feet deep, and is sheathed in weatherboard. It was restored in 1974. The cemetery contains 138 burials dating from 1815 to 2016. It is the oldest known surviving church in New Hanover County.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Airlie Gardens is a 67-acre (27 ha) public garden in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Gabriel's Landing, also known as Old Oak Point, is a historic estate located at Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina. The main house was built 1936, and consists of a 1+1⁄2-story, five-bay, central section flanked by one-story recessed wings in the Colonial Revival style. The front facade features a one-story piazza, and the house has a ceramic tile shingle roof. Also on the property is a contributing cottage (c. 1936), cabin (c. 1936), two-story barn (c. 1936), and stable (c. 1936).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
