Happy Valley, Hong Kong

The Summit (Chinese: 御峰; Jyutping: jyu6 fung1) is a residential skyscraper located in upper Mid-Levels, Hong Kong. It is one of the tallest residential buildings in the city, standing at 220 metres (722 ft) tall, with 65 storeys. Construction of the building began in 1999 and it opened in 2001. Highcliff, another tall skyscraper, stands right next to this building.Due to the visual effect of its proximity to Highcliff, another very thin and tall building, the two together are often referred to as "The Chopsticks". These two buildings highlight the characters of pencil-thin towers that are highly concentrated in Hong Kong.

Highcliff is a luxury apartment on a south slope of Happy Valley on the Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. The 75-storey building's construction (70 floors of which are liveable space) began in 2000 and was completed in 2003 under a design by DLN Architects & Engineers. It was the Silver Winner of the 2003 Emporis Skyscraper Award, coming in second to 30 St Mary Axe in London. The tower is the tallest "all"-residential building in Hong Kong island. Highcliff is thin for such a tall building; it has a slenderness ratio of 1:20 thus being one of the thinnest buildings in the world. Therefore, a passive wind damper was fitted to the top, the first of its kind for a residential building. This was installed because typhoons approach Hong Kong most late summers. Because of the obvious similarity with a nearby similar building The Summit, the two have been informally called "The Chopsticks". These two buildings highlight the characters of pencil-thin towers that are highly concentrated in Hong Kong.

Happy Valley Jewish Cemetery, Hong Kong is the main Jewish cemetery in Happy Valley, Hong Kong. The cemetery is located on Shan Kwong Road and is managed by Jones Lang Lasalle Management Services.

Tung Lin Kok Yuen is a Buddhist nunnery and educational institution located at No.15 Shan Kwong Road in Happy Valley, Hong Kong. Founded in 1935 by Lady Clara Ho-Tung, it is home to approximately 30 nuns and 50 lay devotees.It is the only seminary for Buddhist nuns in Hong Kong and provides an 8-year curricular programme in Mahayana Buddhism. It contains both a primary day and primary night school, the Po Kok Vocational Middle School, and a separate branch of primary schools in the New Territories. In all institutions a study of Buddhist Sutras is given, but other subjects, depending on the location, include Mathematics, English, Chinese and History. All said institutions are female-only, and the total enrolment is 1,256.A large draw to Tung Lin is its two halls housing memorial tablets for the deceased. Each Remembrance Day, Tung Lin hosts a public service for the souls of the dead there. Similarly, there have been famous courses offered several times a year at the seminary, taught by authorities from the Sangha. These courses last several weeks each session. Both events are sponsored by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association.

King Yin Lei (Chinese: 景賢里) is an historic mansion in the Mid-Levels area of Hong Kong. It is within the Wan Chai District.

Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, or HKSH, is a private hospital established in 1922 in Happy Valley, Hong Kong. The hospital has more than 500 beds and various room types and facilities. It also has a 24 hours outpatient consultation service. HKSH has a School of Nursing, affiliated with The Open University of Hong Kong, which trains nurses up to degree level. It is also affiliated with the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong and provides clinical attachment opportunities for HKU medical students.HKSH is surveyed and accredited bi-annually by QHA Trent Accreditation of the United Kingdom, a major international healthcare accreditation group.With a height of 148.5 metres (487 ft), it was the second-highest hospital building in the world at the time, 15 centimetres (5.9 in) shorter than Guy's Hospital in London. It is the sixth-highest as of 2019.

Rosaryhill School (Chinese: 玫瑰崗學校) is a private co-educational primary school in Hong Kong. It relies on government funding from the aided secondary school.

Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road (Chinese: 香港港安醫院–司徒拔道) is one of two Seventh-day Adventist hospitals in Hong Kong, the other being Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Tsuen Wan. It is a private hospital, and is located on Stubbs Road, on Hong Kong Island. It provides a wide range of medical services. Hong Kong Adventist Hospital is subject to international healthcare accreditation, it has been surveyed for many years and is accredited by the UK's QHA Trent Accreditation. It has also been assessed by Joint Commission International from the US, but this ended by 2010.

The Aberdeen Tunnel Underground Laboratory (Chinese: 香港仔隧道粒子物理實驗室) is the only underground particle physics laboratory in Hong Kong. It is situated between the two vehicular tunnel tubes, behind Gates 2 and 5 of Aberdeen Tunnel on Hong Kong Island.

The Hindu Association of Hong Kong is a charitable organisation in Hong Kong which represents the interests of the Hindu population in the territory. The Hindu population in Hong Kong is estimated to be approximately 100,000. The Association assists the local Hindu community with a number of, mostly religious, matters, including the cremation of deceased persons. It is managed by a 15-member Managing Committee, currently headed by Mr Lal Hardasani.

Hong Kong Cemetery, formerly Hong Kong (Happy Valley) Cemetery and before that Hong Kong Colonial Cemetery, is one of the early Christian cemeteries in Hong Kong dating to its colonial era beginning in 1845. It is located beside the racecourse at Happy Valley, along with the Jewish Cemetery, Hindu Cemetery, Parsee Cemetery, St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery and the Muslim Cemetery. Hong Kong Cemetery contains 79 scattered Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 62 from the Second World War, which are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. The Protestant Cemetery is built as a series of terraces ascending a hillside. The older graves tend to be at the bottom of the hill; those from the 1930s and 1940s are generally at the top. On a number of occasions, remains in the Protestant Cemetery have been disinterred to make way for road developments, and have been placed in niches in an ossuary, which continues to be used for contemporary cremations. The niches provide basic information on each individual. A scene in John le Carré's novel The Honourable Schoolboy takes place in the nearby racetrack as well as the cemetery. The cemetery is a popular place for filming movies and TV shows. The UK folk artist Johnny Flynn released a song in 2008 about the cemetery, found on the album A Larum.

The Hong Kong Island geographical constituency was one of the five geographical constituencies in the elections for the Legislative Council of Hong Kong from 1998 to 2021. It was established in 1998 for the first SAR Legislative Council election and was abolished under the 2021 overhaul of the Hong Kong electoral system. In the 2016 Legislative Council election, it elected six members of the Legislative Council using the Hare quota of party-list proportional representation. The constituency covered all the four districts on the Hong Kong Island, namely, Central and Western, Eastern, Southern and Wan Chai. In 2020, it had 707,277 registered voters.
