Stone Mountain is a quartz monzonite dome monadnock and the site of Stone Mountain Park, 16 miles (26 km) east of Atlanta, Georgia. Outside the park is the small city of Stone Mountain, Georgia. The park is the most visited tourist site in the state of Georgia. The park is owned by the state of Georgia and is currently managed by Herschend Family Entertainment. At its summit, the elevation is 1,686 feet (514 m) above sea level and 825 feet (251 m) above the surrounding area. Stone Mountain is well known for not only its geology, but also the enormous rock relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief artwork in the world. The carving, completed in 1972, depicts three Confederate leaders, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson.Stone Mountain, once owned by the Venable Brothers, was seen from the outset "as a memorial to the Confederacy." Stone Mountain Park officially opened on April 14, 1965 – 100 years to the day after Lincoln's assassination, although the park had already been in use for a few years. The mountain, which ranges in composition from quartz monzonite to granite and granodiorite, is more than 5 miles (8 km) in circumference at its base. The summit of the mountain can be reached by a walk-up trail on the west side of the mountain or by the Skyride aerial tram.

The Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad is a standard gauge railroad that circles the perimeter of Stone Mountain Park in a loop, and provides views of the mountain en route.

The Yellow Daisy Festival is an arts and crafts festival, held in Stone Mountain, Georgia.Sunshine Artist Magazine has voted the festival one of the top five arts and crafts shows in the nation.

Thornton House is a historic house in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Thomas Redman Thornton (1769–1826) constructed the house around 1790 at Union Point, Georgia. The house was moved in the late 1960s by the Atlanta Art Association to a location behind the High Museum of Art in Midtown Atlanta. Then the house was moved again in 1968 for final reconstruction in Stone Mountain Park.

The Stone Mountain Airport (FAA LID: 00A), later also known as Stone Mountain Britt Memorial Airport (after the owner's wife), was a small privately run public-use airport located in Stone Mountain, Georgia (east-northeast of the mountain) from around 1962 until 1996. Used for general aviation, it had a paved runway of either 2,700 feet (820 m) or 3,000 feet (910 m), and a "crosswind" grass runway of unknown length. The fixed-base operator was Stone Mountain Aviation Inc. It was closed prior to the Centennial 1996 Summer Olympics in nearby Atlanta. By the 2000s, the hangars and other buildings had been removed, It is now used for R/C plane hobbyists. Its FAA location ID is now used at an R/C heliport in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

Stone Mountain is a city in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 5,802 according to the 2010 US Census. Stone Mountain is in the eastern part of DeKalb County and is a suburb of Atlanta that encompasses nearly 1.7 square miles. It lies near and touches the western base of the geological formation Stone Mountain. Locals often call the city "Stone Mountain Village" to distinguish it from the larger unincorporated area traditionally considered Stone Mountain and Stone Mountain Park.

The Stone Mountain Tennis Center was a tennis venue at Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, Georgia, USA. It was built to host the tennis events for the 1996 Summer Olympics and the 1996 Summer Paralympics, at a total cost of $22 million. At the time of the Olympics, the complex included over 12,000 seats for tennis fans, a 50,000-square-foot (4,600 m2) plaza area located around the stadium, and a stadium court plus 15 additional outer courts. The reconfigured stadium held 7,200 people, and two smaller courts seated 4,000 and 2,000. Although the park was in DeKalb County, the Tennis Center itself was in Gwinnett County. The facility played host to the 1997 U.S. Women's Hard Court Championships and the 1998 Davis Cup competition featuring Andre Agassi and Jim Courier, which the U.S. won against Russia. The Stone Mountain Tennis Center also hosted a concert in October 2005 with Roberta Flack and Melba Moore. Since the Olympics, the ownership of the facility has transferred to the State of Georgia's Stone Mountain Memorial Association and then to Gwinnett County in 2016. The facility fell into disrepair since it closed in 2007 and was demolished in 2018.

Netherworld Haunted House is a self-guided, walk-through haunted attraction located near Atlanta, Georgia, in unincorporated Gwinnett County. It is a seasonal Halloween-based event which opened in 1997. Netherworld is distinguished by having developed an original theme which was not based on popular movies, such as slasher films, but rather on a unique storyline. It operates during October of each year.

Wade-Walker Park is a 177-acre park with sports fields, hiking and biking trails, pavilions, and a fishing pier near Stone Mountain, Georgia, United States. In 2005, the park underwent a $2.5 million upgrade. The park is located at 5585 Rockbridge Road, at the intersection of Rockbridge with Stone Mountain Lithonia Road.

Stephenson High School (SHS) is a public school that serves grades 9–12 in the unincorporated area of DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. It has a Stone Mountain postal address but it is not in the city limits. It is part of the DeKalb County School District. Stephenson High School is in the old historic area near Stone Mountain. The main campus is five acres. The school has an enrollment of 1,323 students.

Mountain Park is an unincorporated, census-designated place in Gwinnett County, Georgia, United States. The population was 11,554 at the 2010 census. The older name for the area is Trickum, which is reflected in Five Forks-Trickum Road which bisects the community. The older community was centered on Five Forks and Rockbridge Roads.

Smoke Rise is an upscale residential community in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States, located northeast of Atlanta in the City of Tucker, incorporated in 2016. It is located north of the city of Stone Mountain on the Eastern side of the city of Tucker. The main road through Smoke Rise is Hugh Howell Road (Georgia Route 236). Smoke Rise is a part of the city of Tucker, and is near the Gwinnett-DeKalb county line. The local public schools are Smoke Rise Elementary School, Tucker Middle School and Tucker High School.
