The Seacoast Region is the southeast area of the U.S. state of New Hampshire that is centered around the city of Portsmouth. It includes the eastern portion of Rockingham County and the southern portion of Strafford County. At its narrowest definition, the region stretches 13 miles (21 km) along the Atlantic Ocean from New Hampshire's border with Salisbury, Massachusetts, to the Piscataqua River and New Hampshire's border with Kittery, Maine. The shoreline alternates between rocky and rough headlands and areas with sandy beaches. Some of the beaches are bordered by jetties or groins, particularly in the towns of Rye and Hampton. Most definitions of the Seacoast Region includes some inland towns as well, including the Great Bay area cities of Dover and Rochester, the college town of Durham, and areas as far west as Epping. Some definitions also include nearby portions of York County, Maine that are culturally aligned with the Portsmouth area rather than the Portland, Maine metropolitan area.The city of Portsmouth is the cultural and commercial hub of the region, with numerous historical landmarks and other attractions including Strawbery Banke, the Moffatt-Ladd House, and the John Paul Jones House. Dover in Strafford County is the largest city in the region by population and is the oldest permanent settlement in New Hampshire. Dover is home to the Children's Museum of New Hampshire and the renowned Woodman Institute Museum. The Seacoast Region was the first area of the state to be permanently settled by Europeans in the early 17th century. Straddling the maritime border New Hampshire shares with Maine are the Isles of Shoals - White, Seavey, Lunging, and Star Islands. From Portsmouth, they are a short ferry ride out into the Gulf of Maine.

North Hampton Town Hall

The North Hampton Town Hall is located at 231 Atlantic Avenue in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Built in 1844, it was the town's first purpose-built municipal building, and continues to be used as such. Its construction includes materials recovered from older dual-purpose religious and civic buildings, and its tower houses a Revere bell. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2006.

North Hampton Library

The Old North Hampton Library is a historic library building at 237 Atlantic Avenue in North Hampton, New Hampshire. The small, single-story Tudor Revival structure was designed by Boston architect J. Lawrence Berry and built in 1907. It was the town's first purpose-built library building, and was used as such until a new library was built nearby in 1973. It presently houses town offices. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Drake Farm

Drake Farm is a historic farmstead at 148 Lafayette Road in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Built in 1890, the main farmhouse is a well-preserved example of a connected New England farmstead. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

Centennial Hall (North Hampton, New Hampshire)

Centennial Hall is a historic community hall and schoolhouse at 105 Post Road in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Built in 1876, it is a distinctive local example of Stick Style architecture, and has served the town as a schoolhouse and community meeting place for most of its existence. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

North Hampton State Beach

North Hampton State Beach is a one-acre state park located on the Atlantic Ocean in the town of North Hampton, New Hampshire. The park offers swimming at a sandy beach with a bathhouse and metered parking.

Reuben Lamprey Homestead

The Reuben Lamprey Homestead is a historic house at 416 Winnacunnet Road in Hampton, New Hampshire. Built in the 1770s, the property is the best-preserved colonial-era farm complex in the town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Hampton Playhouse

Hampton Playhouse was a summer theater company in Hampton, New Hampshire, United States. It was founded in 1948 by John Vari and Alfred Christie, who was a teacher at Richmond Hill High School in Queens, New York. Christie's mother, Sarah Christie, ran the concession stand. During the 1950s until the summer of 1980, the home of Maddy Meredith at 38 Mill Road was where most cast and crew members of the company lived for the summer. This ended in 1981, upon the death of Maddy Meredith, at which point the company made alternate arrangements for housing.Hampton Playhouse was a full-functioning equity theater, but starting in 1973 it also ran a summer workshop for teenagers, who put on one children's theater production every week. Notable actors who spent time at Hampton Playhouse include Broadway actress Jessica Sheridan, character actors Carleton Carpenter and Kevin Tighe, as well as Elizabeth Hubbard, Rue McClanahan, JoBeth Williams, Stephen Belida, Katherine Helmond, Jason Bateman and Steve Witting .Hampton Playhouse eventually closed its doors for good in 2001.

Little Boar's Head Historic District

The Little Boar's Head Historic District encompasses an area of summer resort and beachfront properties in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Located on New Hampshire's seacoast roughly between North Hampton State Beach and Bass Beach, the district is almost entirely residential, consisting mainly of houses built as summer vacation spots in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with associated beachfront amenities. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
