Hampton, New Hampshire

Hampton is a census-designated place (CDP) comprising the town center and surrounding developed areas of the town of Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 9,597 at the 2020 census, out of 16,214 in the entire town.

Sacred Heart School of Hampton, New Hampshire is a Catholic school under the Diocese of Manchester. It is the parish school for Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, also in Hampton. This school serves grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.

Winnacunnet High School is an American public high school in Hampton, New Hampshire. It serves students in grades 9 through 12 who live in Hampton, Seabrook, North Hampton, South Hampton, and Hampton Falls. Students from South Hampton attend either Amesbury High School or Winnacunnet High School. Winnacunnet is a Native American word that means "beautiful place of the pines". William McGowan has been the principal since 2010.

The Drakes River is a 2.1-mile (3.4 km) long stream located in southeastern New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Taylor River, a tidal inlet (via the Hampton River) of the Atlantic Ocean. The river rises in an office park just southeast of the Interstate 95/NH 101 interchange in Hampton, New Hampshire. It flows south, through Coffin Pond, and reaches the Taylor River just west of the Route 1 crossing of the Hampton saltmarsh.

Hampton Playhouse was a summer theater company in Hampton, New Hampshire, United States. It was founded in 1948 by John Vari and Alfred Christie, who was a teacher at Richmond Hill High School in Queens, New York. Christie's mother, Sarah Christie, ran the concession stand. During the 1950s until the summer of 1980, the home of Maddy Meredith at 38 Mill Road was where most cast and crew members of the company lived for the summer. This ended in 1981, upon the death of Maddy Meredith, at which point the company made alternate arrangements for housing.Hampton Playhouse was a full-functioning equity theater, but starting in 1973 it also ran a summer workshop for teenagers, who put on one children's theater production every week. Notable actors who spent time at Hampton Playhouse include Broadway actress Jessica Sheridan, character actors Carleton Carpenter and Kevin Tighe, as well as Elizabeth Hubbard, Rue McClanahan, JoBeth Williams, Stephen Belida, Katherine Helmond, Jason Bateman and Steve Witting .Hampton Playhouse eventually closed its doors for good in 2001.

The Benjamin James House is a historic house museum at 186 Towle Farm Road in Hampton, New Hampshire. Built in 1723, it is believed to be the oldest surviving example in New Hampshire of the traditional five-bay Georgian Colonial house, with a possibly older building attached as an ell. Now owned by a local nonprofit organization, it is open selected days between May and October, or by appointment. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The Taylor River is a 10.6-mile-long (17.1 km) river located in southeastern New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Hampton River, a tidal inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. Approximately two miles of the Taylor River are tidal. The river rises on the eastern side of Kensington, New Hampshire. It flows east into the town of Hampton Falls and follows a winding course north, then east, then southeast through the rolling lowlands of the region, reaching tidewater at a dam and fish ladder where Interstate 95 crosses the river. For the lower four miles of the river, it forms the boundary between Hampton Falls and Hampton, New Hampshire. The freshwater portion of the river is an active recreation area for summer fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Ice fishing and cross country skiing are also pastimes here.

The Reuben Lamprey Homestead is a historic house at 416 Winnacunnet Road in Hampton, New Hampshire. Built in the 1770s, the property is the best-preserved colonial-era farm complex in the town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Windsor Institute was a school in Hampton, New Hampshire, United States. It was owned and operated by Michael Dunbar[1], where five-day courses in Windsor chairmaking were taught year round. The school had its final class, an 'Early Philadelphia High Back Arm Chair', in March of 2016.

Hampton Falls is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 2,403 at the 2020 census.

The Gov. Meshech Weare House is a historic house on Exeter Road (New Hampshire Route 88) in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. It was built in 1723, and is notable as the home of Meshech Weare, the first Governor of New Hampshire after it declared independence from the British crown. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

North Hampton is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 4,538 at the 2020 census. While the majority of the town is inland, North Hampton includes a part of New Hampshire's limited Atlantic seacoast.
