North Hampton State Beach

The Little River is a 4.6-mile-long (7.4 km) river in southeastern New Hampshire in the United States. It is located entirely in the town of North Hampton, and it flows directly into the Atlantic Ocean, south of Little Boars Head. The river rises in a forested wetland in the northern part of North Hampton and flows south, passing under U.S. 1. The river turns southeast, passes through Mill Pond and under NH 111, and enters the Little River salt marsh. The river enters the Atlantic Ocean by passing under NH 1A, using a new, large culvert installed by the New Hampshire Coastal Program in an effort to improve tidal flow into the salt marsh.

The Little Boar's Head Historic District encompasses an area of summer resort and beachfront properties in North Hampton, New Hampshire. Located on New Hampshire's seacoast roughly between North Hampton State Beach and Bass Beach, the district is almost entirely residential, consisting mainly of houses built as summer vacation spots in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with associated beachfront amenities. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Fuller Gardens is a seaside public botanical garden located at 10 Willow Avenue in the town of North Hampton, New Hampshire, United States, in a historic area known as "Little Boars Head". Developed in the early 20th century, the gardens are set on three acres (1.2 ha) and feature formal rose gardens, a Japanese garden, English perennial borders, a tropical and desert conservatory, tulip and annual beds, a hosta garden and a dahlia display area. The gardens are open to the public daily from mid-May through mid-October. The gardens were created as an ornament to the grand summer estate Runnymede-by-the-Sea by businessman and Massachusetts governor Alvan T. Fuller. The original design was by Arthur Shurcliff, who was the architect of record when the estate was built in 1927. Shortly thereafter in 1931, Alvan Fuller contacted Olmstead Brothers to redesign the grounds. The gardens were expanded to include the recent purchase of an adjacent property and was to include formal rose gardens rather than cutting gardens as was included in the Shurtcleff design. The Olmstead design was in the Colonial Revival style and includes many statues and fountains that were collected by Fuller during his travels through Europe. The summer estate was removed in 1962 due to the wishes of Fuller, so that visitors to the gardens could have an unobstructed view of the Atlantic. The Fuller Gardens are now run as a non-profit organization by the Fuller Foundation of New Hampshire. Daily admissions and a large member base help support nearly half of its operating costs. There are many social and horticultural events throughout the season.

Hampton Beach State Park is a 50-acre (20 ha) state park in the community of Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, United States. It is located on the southeastern edge of New Hampshire on a peninsula where the Hampton River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Ocean Boulevard (New Hampshire Route 1A) forms the western edge of the park. The park has a large beach with lifeguards, playground, an amphitheater, public information services, public restrooms, pavilion, comfort station and first aid. Activities in the park include swimming, fishing, picnicking, and RV camping with full hook-ups in the campground.

St. Andrew's-by-the-Sea is a historic Episcopal chapel on Church Road, southeast of the junction with South Road and Route 1A in Rye, New Hampshire. Built in 1876, it is the only known religious work of Boston architects Winslow & Wetherell, and one of a modest number of churches built for summer vacationers in the state. It is an eclectic mix of Gothic Revival and Stick Style, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Rye Beach is an unincorporated community along the Atlantic Ocean in Rye, New Hampshire, United States. It is located along New Hampshire Route 1A near the southern border of the town of Rye, directly south of Jenness State Beach and north of Little Boar's Head (in the neighboring town of North Hampton). Rye Beach has a separate ZIP code (03871) from the rest of the town of Rye.

The Beach Club is a private oceanfront club at 2450 Ocean Boulevard in Rye, New Hampshire. Founded in 1925, it is the only beachfront private club to survive from the early 20th century along New Hampshire's coast. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

The Seacoast Region is the southeast area of the U.S. state of New Hampshire that is centered around the city of Portsmouth. It includes the eastern portion of Rockingham County and the southern portion of Strafford County. At its narrowest definition, the region stretches 13 miles (21 km) along the Atlantic Ocean from New Hampshire's border with Salisbury, Massachusetts, to the Piscataqua River and New Hampshire's border with Kittery, Maine. The shoreline alternates between rocky and rough headlands and areas with sandy beaches. Some of the beaches are bordered by jetties or groins, particularly in the towns of Rye and Hampton. Most definitions of the Seacoast Region includes some inland towns as well, including the Great Bay area cities of Dover and Rochester, the college town of Durham, and areas as far west as Epping. Some definitions also include nearby portions of York County, Maine that are culturally aligned with the Portsmouth area rather than the Portland, Maine metropolitan area.The city of Portsmouth is the cultural and commercial hub of the region, with numerous historical landmarks and other attractions including Strawbery Banke, the Moffatt-Ladd House, and the John Paul Jones House. Dover in Strafford County is the largest city in the region by population and is the oldest permanent settlement in New Hampshire. Dover is home to the Children's Museum of New Hampshire and the renowned Woodman Institute Museum. The Seacoast Region was the first area of the state to be permanently settled by Europeans in the early 17th century. Straddling the maritime border New Hampshire shares with Maine are the Isles of Shoals - White, Seavey, Lunging, and Star Islands. From Portsmouth, they are a short ferry ride out into the Gulf of Maine.

The Reuben Lamprey Homestead is a historic house at 416 Winnacunnet Road in Hampton, New Hampshire. Built in the 1770s, the property is the best-preserved colonial-era farm complex in the town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Jenness State Beach is a small state park located on the Atlantic Ocean in the town of Rye, New Hampshire. The park offers swimming at a sandy beach with a bathhouse and picnicking. The parking lot can accommodate 67 cars.

Hampton Playhouse was a summer theater company in Hampton, New Hampshire, United States. It was founded in 1948 by John Vari and Alfred Christie, who was a teacher at Richmond Hill High School in Queens, New York. Christie's mother, Sarah Christie, ran the concession stand. During the 1950s until the summer of 1980, the home of Maddy Meredith at 38 Mill Road was where most cast and crew members of the company lived for the summer. This ended in 1981, upon the death of Maddy Meredith, at which point the company made alternate arrangements for housing.Hampton Playhouse was a full-functioning equity theater, but starting in 1973 it also ran a summer workshop for teenagers, who put on one children's theater production every week. Notable actors who spent time at Hampton Playhouse include Broadway actress Jessica Sheridan, character actors Carleton Carpenter and Kevin Tighe, as well as Elizabeth Hubbard, Rue McClanahan, JoBeth Williams, Stephen Belida, Katherine Helmond, Jason Bateman and Steve Witting .Hampton Playhouse eventually closed its doors for good in 2001.

The Elijah Locke House is a historic house at 5 Grove Road in Rye, New Hampshire. Traditionally ascribed a construction date of 1739, it is one of the oldest surviving buildings in New Hampshire's Seacoast region. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
