Kilgore High School is a public high school located in the city of Kilgore, Gregg County, Texas, United States and classified as a 4A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Kilgore Independent School District located in southwest Gregg County. In 2022, the school was given an Accountability Rating of 'B' by the Texas Education Agency.

Kilgore is a city in Gregg and Rusk counties in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Texas. Over three-fourths of the area within city limits are located in Gregg County, the remainder in Rusk County. The population was 12,975 at the 2010 census and 13,376 at the 2020 census.From the age of six, Van Cliburn lived in Kilgore; he became an internationally known classical pianist. He is the namesake for Van Cliburn Auditorium on the Kilgore College campus.

The East Texas Oil Field is a large oil and gas field in east Texas. Covering 140,000 acres (57,000 ha) and parts of five counties, and having 30,340 historic and active oil wells, it is the second-largest oil field in the United States outside Alaska, and first in total volume of oil recovered since its discovery in 1930. Over 5.42 billion barrels (862,000,000 m3) of oil have been produced from it to-date. It is a component of the Mid-continent oil province, the huge region of petroleum deposits extending from Kansas to New Mexico to the Gulf of Mexico. The field includes parts of Gregg, western Rusk, southern Upshur, southeastern Smith, and northeastern Cherokee counties in the northeastern part of the state. Overall the field is about 45 miles (72 km) long on the north-south axis, and five miles (8 km) to 12 miles (19 km) across. The producing sands were relatively shallow at about 3,500 feet (1,100 m), was high gravity, low in sulfur, and yielded a high percentage of gasoline (up to 37 per cent). Interstate 20 cuts across the field from east to west, and the towns of Kilgore, Overton, and Gladewater are on the field. At one time, downtown Kilgore had more than 1,000 active wells clustered in a tight area, making it the densest oil development in the world.

The Texas Shakespeare Festival is a professional summer theatre housed in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center on the campus of Kilgore College, Kilgore, Texas. TSF presents four weeks of performances during late June and July of five productions in repertory: two plays by Shakespeare, a classic, a musical, and a children's show.

Kilgore College (KC) is a public community college in Kilgore, Texas. It has an annual enrollment in excess of 5,000 students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the associate degree. The college was established in 1935 at the height of the East Texas oil boom, and as such, is home to the East Texas Oil Museum which houses a large collection of memorabilia documenting this period of Texas history. It is also famous for having the first ever dance-drill team, the Kilgore College Rangerettes, which began in 1940 under the direction of Gussie Nell Davis.

Driller Park is a baseball park in Kilgore, Texas, US, constructed in 1947 for the Kilgore Drillers and refurbished in 2008 for the East Texas Pump Jacks of the Texas Collegiate League. The park has also been used for East Texas college and high school baseball matches. The park has a capacity of 3,000.

Gregg County is a county located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 124,239. Its county seat is Longview. The county is named after John Gregg, a Confederate general killed in action during the American Civil War.Gregg County is part of the Longview, Texas metropolitan area and the Longview–Marshall, Texas combined statistical area. Discovery of oil near Kilgore in October 1930 was the beginning of an oil boom that attracted workers to the county and expanded the population by more than 500% by 1940, according to the census. By that time, the economy had stabilized, but the East Texas Oil Field, extending into five counties, has continued to be important to the county and region's economy.

Laird Hill is an unincorporated community in northwestern Rusk County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 405 in 2000. It is located within the Longview, Texas metropolitan area.

Liberty City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,721 at the 2020 census, an increase over the figure of 2,351 tabulated in 2010.

Greggton was an unincorporated community in Gregg County, located in the U.S. state of Texas. The community was originally founded in 1873 under the name "Willow Springs" as a stop on the Texas and Pacific Railway. Greggton's main thoroughfare would be designated as part of U.S. Highway 80 upon its establishment in 1926.The East Texas Oil Boom of the early 1930s saw the town grow. A post office was established in November 1932 and the name changed to "Greggton" around the same time. In 1920, the town had a population of 180. By 1936, the population had grown to 1,500 with 125 businesses and by 1949, the population had grown to 2,350. By the 1950s, the town had its own movie theater called "The Ritz"The town was annexed to Longview in December 1959, with postal services transferred on May 31, 1960.Today, the Pine Tree Independent School District serves the parts of Longview that were once Greggton.

It is a part of the Sabine Independent School District located in western Gregg County and is addressed to neighboring Gladewater. In 2013, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

It is a part of the White Oak Independent School District located in west central Gregg County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.
