Aldrans

The Herzsee is a lake near the village center of Aldrans in the Tyrol region of Austria, and serves mainly for fish breeding. Formerly the Lake was opened to the public for swimming. The lake is covered in a wooded environment on a round travel route to Ampass or Sistrans. Its length is 200 m; its width is 50 m. Due to its small size, the lake is sometimes plagued by algae. Its water quality is Grade B. The Herztalbach is the natural outflow of the Lake and discharges into the Inn River after 5 km.

The Chamber of Art and Wonders ("Kunst- und Wunderkammer") is a cabinet of curiosities created by Ferdinand II, Archduke of Austria, sovereign ruler of the County of Tyrol and Further Austria, in the 16th century. Ferdinand II, son of Emperor Ferdinand I, was one of history's most prominent collectors of art. The cultured humanist from the House of Austria accommodated his world-famous collections in a museum built specifically for that purpose (1572-1583, supplement 1589). So, the Lower Castle as building itself became an exhibit, making Ambras Castle in Innsbruck perhaps the oldest museum in the world. As the only Renaissance Kunstkammer of its kind to have been preserved at its original location, the Chamber of Art and Wonders represents an unrivalled cultural monument. Representing an outstanding example of a late Renaissance encyclopedic collection of its genre, it continues to be displayed at Ambras Castle Innsbruck, the same setting since its inception. Ferdinand II, like many other rulers of the Renaissance, was interested in promoting the arts and sciences. The Habsburg Archduke spent considerable time and money on his unique collection: armour, weapons, portraits, natural objects, rarities, 'wonders of nature', most recent scientific instruments, musical instruments, precious items, and so on; which in later times should be classified as artificialia, naturalia, scientifica, exotica, and mirabilia. Beside the "Chamber of Art and Wonders" Ambras Castle is home to a famous collection of armouries and early modern weapons feature masterpieces of the European armourer's art from the Renaissance; Archduke Ferdinand II was the first in the history of the museum to present his collection according to a systematic concept within a specially constructed museum building. The "Glassammlung Strasser" (Strasser Collection of Glass) boasts precious glassware from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The "Habsburger Porträtgalerie" (Habsburg Portrait Gallery) laid out on three floors is open to visitors in summer. The paintings include works by famous painters such as Hans Burgkmair, Lucas Cranach the Younger, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, Peter Paul Rubens, Diego Velázquez, and others. Today, these collections at Ambras are administered by the KHM-Museumsverband, as part of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.

The Mühlsee, or Lake Mills, is a lake in Lans, Tyrol. It had an inflow and outflow, but they were buried in 2005. Nowadays, the lake is without fresh water.In 1840, the lake was drained. It was allowed to refill after a fire in 1902.The lake is mainly used for fish breeding; bathing is prohibited due to the small size. Sometimes the lake is plagued by algae. There are high reeds along the shore often hiding fen puddles which act like quicksand.

Lans is a town in the district of Innsbruck Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The village is located 8 km (15 minutes by car) south of the city of Innsbruck. Lans is located on the old salt road and first mentioned in 1180 as "Lannes". The main attractions are the lake Lanser See, several good restaurants (Wilder Mann, Isserwirt, Walzl) and the health center Lanserhof. In summer, the golf resort Sperberegg is an additional attraction.

Ampass is a municipality in the Innsbruck-Land District, Tyrol (Austria) situated at an altitude of 651 m, has an area of 7.9 km2 and 1793 inhabitants as January 2015.

The Fen of Lans (also Lanser Moor or Water Lily Pond) is located north above Lake Lans at an altitude of 582 metres in the Paschberg forest. With an area of 8000 m² and a depth of 3 metres the lake is much smaller than its neighbour. To keep its natural beauty intact, bathing and swimming was already forbidden by the city administration of Innsbruck very early. The lake is under nature conservation. The muddy water has reed-lined shores which often hide big quicksand-like puddles. The water quality fluctuates between A and B grade. Smaller kinds of carp, roach, and rudd live in the lake and several ducks call the lake home.

The Lake Lans or Lanser See is a lake for bathing near Lans located on the southern highlands above Innsbruck, Austria. The lake can be reached by Streetcar Line 6 from Innsbruck. The lake is popular due to its green environment. It is used for ice-skating during the winter. The lake belongs to the city area of Innsbruck. Thanks to its fen water the Lanser See has generally excellent water quality, although it is affected in summer due to its recreational use.

Sistrans is a community in the district of Innsbruck-Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol located 4 km southeast above the capital on the highlands. In the center one can still see rustic character but nowadays the village looks like a big dwelling.

Baggersee Innsbruck (also: Baggersee Rossau) is located in the south-eastern part of Innsbruck at the Inn River and belongs to the city district Amras. With an area size of 2.8 ha it is the second largest lake in the city area. Only the Lake Lans surpasses it by size and volume. Many people use the lake as recreation area in summer. The water can warm up to 24 °C. Recreational activities at the lake include beach volley, badminton, streetball or table tennis. In fall the water is intensively used for surfing. Despite the high usage, the water quality remains constant at Grade B. Reed regions, fresh water supply and subterranean connections with the sewage treat plant Rossau and Inn River provide the Lake with sufficient water upheavals. Rare water birds like cormorants and swans were detected by ornithologists who use this territory during the non-bathing season.

The Tivoli Stadion Tirol (formerly named Tivoli-Neu ) is a multi-purpose stadium in Innsbruck, Austria. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Bundesliga club WSG Tirol and Raiders Tirol of the European League of Football. The stadium capacity was 17,400 when it was built in 2000. For the UEFA Euro 2008 the stadium was temporarily expanded to 30,000 people. The North Stand is fitted with rail seats for safe standing.

The Olympia Eisschnellaufbahn is a speed skating venue located in Innsbruck, Austria. The outdoor venue hosted the speed skating events both for the 1964 and the 1976 Winter Olympics and the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics. It is part of the OlympiaWorld Innsbruck consortium that is responsible for maintaining venues that hosted both the 1964 and the 1976 Winter Olympics.

OlympiaWorld Innsbruck is a multi-purpose sports facility complex in Innsbruck, Austria. It was opened in 1963. The complex served as the Olympic Park of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics, as well as the 2012 and Winter Youth Olympics.
