Miami Palmetto Senior High School is a public high school located at 7431 S.W. 120th Street in Pinecrest, Florida. The school is on 23 acres (9.3 ha) in southwest Miami-Dade County, and is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools district. Miami Norland Senior High is Miami Palmetto's sister school by original blueprints. The school has been named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Its principal is Victoria Dobbs. The school serves several areas: Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, and sections of Kendall, West Perrine and Palmetto Estates.

The 1986 FBI Miami shootout occurred on April 11, 1986, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, U.S. (the specific area was incorporated as Pinecrest in 1996), when a small group of field agents for the FBI attempted to apprehend William Russell Matix and Michael Lee Platt, who were suspected of committing a series of violent crimes in and around the Miami metropolitan area. Although they had partially surrounded the suspects after maneuvering them off a local road, the agents involved quickly found their firepower was outmatched by the weapons which Matix and Platt had in their vehicle. During the gun battle which ensued, Platt in particular was able to repeatedly return fire despite sustaining multiple hits. Two Special Agents died from their wounds, while five other agents were injured by gunfire. The shootout ended when both Matix and Platt were killed. The incident is infamous as one of the most violent episodes in the history of the FBI and is often studied in law enforcement training. The scale of the shootout led to the introduction of more effective handguns, primarily switching from revolvers to semi-automatics, in the FBI and many police departments around the United States.

Pinecrest is a suburban village in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The village is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 18,388.Pinecrest is governed by a five-member village council and operates under the council-manager form of government. 33156, the ZIP code that encompasses most of the village, has been consistently ranked as one of the most expensive in the United States.

Howard was a predominantly low income African-American neighborhood of Kendall, an unincorporated community and CDP located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located just west of downtown Pinecrest, and just north of The Falls, a shopping mall.

The Falls is an open-air shopping mall in Kendall, Florida. The mall has 111 upscale stores. The mall's anchor store is Macy's. Bloomingdale's was an anchor at this mall but closed on March 20, 2020, and it was replaced by Life Time Fitness center, which opened on August 4, 2023. This mall also features a movie theater, which is called Regal Entertainment Group (United Artists Falls 12), and is currently managed and 50% owned by the Simon Property Group.

Dadeland South station is a transfer station on the Metrorail rapid transit system in the Dadeland district of Kendall, Florida. It is the southern terminus of the Metrorail system and the northern terminus of the South Dade TransitWay (a BRT corridor). It is the southernmost passenger rail station in the Continental United States. This station is located near the intersection of Dadeland Boulevard and Datran Boulevard, adjacent to South Dixie Highway (US 1), three blocks southwest of Kendall Drive and Dadeland Mall, and just east of the US 1–Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) junction. It opened to service May 20, 1984.The station serves Downtown Dadeland as well as local shopping centers Dadeland Mall and Town Center One.

Hawley Heights is a neighborhood of Kendall, a CDP and unincorporated community in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located west of Pinecrest, and just south of Green-Mar Acres, a neighboring neighborhood.

Chapman Field (officially the Subtropical Horticulture Research Station) is a horticulture and agronomy research facility of the Agricultural Research Service, a division of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), located in Miami, Florida. Dating from 1898, it is one of the oldest entities in South Florida. The USDA also refers to it as the Miami Station.The introduction of economically useful plants into the US is a three-step process: (1) explorers find the plants in foreign countries; (2) the plants are sent back to a USDA introduction garden where they are evaluated; (3) successful plants are distributed to farmers and nurserymen. Chapman Field is the original introduction garden for tropical plants. Over 20,000 plant introductions have been registered at the Miami station since its establishment. Emphasis has been on rubber, cacao, coffee, mango, palm, avocado, lychee, and other plants.

Town Center One is a high-rise building located in Dadeland, an urban area in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida. Constructed from 2007 to 2009, it contains class A commercial office space and was built near the end of the United States housing bubble of the 2000s. The building reaches a height of about 295 feet (90 m), making it one of the taller buildings in Dadeland. The building stands out for its dark green glass curtain wall façade. This was the result of a design change; as the name implies, the building was intended to be the first of several buildings in a mixed-use development. Due to poor market conditions and a regional overbuilding of office space, the building sat largely vacant until several years after completion. In 2011, the majority of units went into foreclosure when a construction loan could not be repaid, which led to the restructuring of the building's finances in 2012 by its anchor tenant, BMI Companies.

Metropolis at Dadeland is a pair of skyscraper condos in the Dadeland neighborhood of Kendall, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. Metropolis at Dadeland consists of two near identical residential towers, Metropolis One and Metropolis Two. The towers provide retail and dining space on the street level, while the remaining floors are residential condo units. Specifically, floors two though seven are loft style units surrounding nine floors of parking. Floors eight through twenty-six are condo units and Penthouse units at the top. Floor eight contains most of the buildings amenities such as two pools, his and her saunas, library/work center, fitness center, club room with pool tables, and a Jacuzzi. Both towers stand at a height (architectural) of 313.58 ft. Construction took three years (2003-2006) to complete both towers. Toscano (formerly known as Dadeland Fairfield) is a group of residential condos in the Dadeland neighborhood of Miami, Florida, United States. Toscano consists of two connected residential structures; Toscano North Tower, a low-rise building and Toscano South Tower, a high rise tower to the south. The south tower is 280 ft tall with retail space at street level and also contains the main lobby for both buildings. The street level of the north tower consist almost entirely of retail space currently occupied by Rooms To Go. The remaining six floors are exclusively residential condo units. Construction took three years (2004-2007) to complete both buildings. The north tower was completed in 2006 and the south tower was completed in 2007.

Downtown Dadeland is an urban residential and retail development in Dadeland, Kendall, Florida, USA. Dadeland is an edge city in Kendall, which is part of unincorporated Miami-Dade County. Downtown Dadeland was completed in 2005, during a South Florida real estate boom. Notably, the 7.5-acre (3.0-hectare) development contains 15 acres (6.1 hectares) of parking on two underground levels, unprecedented in South Florida, which averages under 10 feet (3.0 m) of elevation AMSL. Since then, some other projects have pursued more than one sub-grade level, including Brickell City Centre in the Brickell district of Downtown Miami. Underground development in the Miami area is complicated and expensive, due to the high water table (low elevation). A project on Fort Lauderdale beach planned three levels of underground parking, but revised plans down to a single level mechanical parking garage. The mixed-use development is adjacent to Dadeland South station, the southern terminus of the Metrorail system, which saw significant ridership increases in the 21st century after many transit-oriented developments such as Dadeland were completed. Underground parking, including -1.5 and greater depths, began to become more common in the 2010s, pressured by building codes, aesthetics, and economics.
