The Falls (mall)

Howard was a predominantly low income African-American neighborhood of Kendall, an unincorporated community and CDP located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located just west of downtown Pinecrest, and just north of The Falls, a shopping mall.

The 1986 FBI Miami shootout occurred on April 11, 1986, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, U.S. (the specific area was incorporated as Pinecrest in 1996), when a small group of field agents for the FBI attempted to apprehend William Russell Matix and Michael Lee Platt, who were suspected of committing a series of violent crimes in and around the Miami metropolitan area. Although they had partially surrounded the suspects after maneuvering them off a local road, the agents involved quickly found their firepower was outmatched by the weapons which Matix and Platt had in their vehicle. During the gun battle which ensued, Platt in particular was able to repeatedly return fire despite sustaining multiple hits. Two Special Agents died from their wounds, while five other agents were injured by gunfire. The shootout ended when both Matix and Platt were killed. The incident is infamous as one of the most violent episodes in the history of the FBI and is often studied in law enforcement training. The scale of the shootout led to the introduction of more effective handguns, primarily switching from revolvers to semi-automatics, in the FBI and many police departments around the United States.

Hawley Heights is a neighborhood of Kendall, a CDP and unincorporated community in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is located west of Pinecrest, and just south of Green-Mar Acres, a neighboring neighborhood.

Coral Reef Senior High School is a secondary school located at 10101 S.W. 152nd Street in Richmond Heights, Florida, United States. The principal is Nicole Bergé-MacInnes. Coral Reef is locally known as "Miami's Mega Magnet School" since it offers six different magnet programs. According to Newsweek's list of the 1,000 Top U.S. Schools in 2008, the school was ranked at 19th in the nation, making it 4th in the state of Florida at the time. In 2007, 2006 and 2005, it had ranked 22nd, 29th and 13th, respectively. This ranking is based on a ratio devised by Jay Mathews, which takes the number of Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate tests taken by all students at a school in that school year and divides it by the number of graduating seniors. Coral Reef is currently ranked No.134 of the top high schools in the nation.

Cutler was a pioneer town in Miami-Dade County, Florida that existed from 1883 to 1915, when most of it was absorbed into the Charles Deering Estate. The area adjoining the western border of the estate later became the Cutler census-designated place (CDP) through the time of the 2000 census, after which it was incorporated into the Village of Palmetto Bay. The population was 17,390 at the 2000 census.

Palmetto Bay is a suburban incorporated village in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. Palmetto Bay includes two neighborhoods that were former census-designated places, Cutler and East Perrine. The village is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. The population was 24,439 as of the 2020 US census.

The school is on 23 acres (9.3 ha) in southwest Miami-Dade County, and is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools district. Miami Norland Senior High is Miami Palmetto's sister school by original blueprints. The school has been named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Its principal is Victoria Dobbs. The school serves several areas: Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, and sections of Kendall, West Perrine and Palmetto Estates.

Kendall is an unincorporated area and census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. At the 2020 census, the area had a population of 80,241.
