Maruyama Shrine

Tenjinzaka (天神坂) is a hill road that runs along the promontory through many districts of Takanawa. It crosses Sakurada Dori. It is said that this name given to the slope because of a small shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, a scholar who is venerated as the patron deity of scholarship, Tenjin. A Calyx field could be seen from this slope in the Edo period, therefore sometimes it is referred to as Yoshimizaka which also had a secondary meaning of "Good Luck" slope.

Sengaku-ji (泉岳寺) is a Buddhist temple belonging to the Sōtō school of Japanese Zen located in the Takanawa neighborhood of Minato-ku, near Sengakuji Station and Shinagawa Station, Tokyo, Japan. It was one of the three major Sōtō temples in Edo during the Tokugawa shogunate, and became famous through its connection with the Akō incident of the forty-seven Rōnin in the 18th century.

Meiji Gakuin University (明治学院大学, Meiji gakuin daigaku) is a Christian university in Tokyo and Yokohama that was established in 1863. The Reverend Dr. James Curtis Hepburn was one of its founders and served as the first president. The novelist and poet Shimazaki Toson graduated from this college and wrote the lyrics of its college song.

Kōyasan Tokyo Betsuin (高野山東京別院, Kōyasan Tōkyō Betsuin, "Kōyasan Tokyo Branch Temple") is a temple located in Minato Ward at Takanawa 3-15-18 (facing Nihonenoki dori ) in Tokyo. It belongs to the Kōyasan Shingon school of Japanese Buddhism, and the principal image is Kūkai. The head temple of this betsuin is Kongōbu-ji in Wakayama Prefecture. It stands next to the Takanawa Police Station.

The Takanawa Imperial Residence (高輪皇族邸, Takanawa Kōzokutei) is an Imperial residence in Tokyo. From 1931 to 2004, it was the residence of Nobuhito, Prince Takamatsu and his spouse, Kikuko, Princess Takamatsu. On March 31, 2020, the Emperor emeritus Akihito and the Empress emerita Michiko moved in. The official name of the residence was then changed to Sento Karigosho (仙洞仮御所, litt. "Temporary Emeritus Imperial Palace").

Meiji Gakuin Senior High School (明治学院高等学校, Meiji Gakuin Kōtōgakkō) is a private senior high school in Shirokane, Minato, Tokyo. Affiliated with Meiji Gakuin University (学校法人明治学院), it originated from the Meiji Gakuin, which was established in 1887 and housed a five-year secondary education program, originally only for boys. After World War I this was modified into separate junior high school and senior high school programs. The school became coeducational in 1991.

Tōzen-ji (東禅寺), is a Buddhist temple located in Takanawa, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. The temple belongs to the Myōshin-ji branch of the Rinzai school of Japanese Zen. One of the four great Zen temples of Edo, it is best known in history as the location of the first British legation in Japan during the Bakumatsu period and the site of a number of incidents against foreigners by pro-sonnō jōi samurai. The temple's precincts were designated a National Historic Site in 2010.

Shirokane (白金) is a district of Minato, Tokyo, Japan. Currently it consists of six chōme. According to Minato, as of November 1, 2007, the population in the neighborhood is 14,840. The term Shirokane narrowly refers to Shirokane 1-chōme to Shirokane 6-chōme, but is sometimes used to include the larger neighborhood formerly known as Shiba-Shirokane (芝白金), which encompasses part of Shirokanedai and Takanawa as well as Shirokane. This article deals with the place in the narrow definition.
