The 1584 Aigle earthquake occurred on 11 March at 23:00–23:30 local time in Switzerland. The earthquake had a moment magnitude of 5.9–6.4 and maximum Modified Mercalli intensity of VIII (Severe). The shock generated a tsunami in Lake Geneva. It was followed by 25 aftershocks in the following days. An aftershock on 14 March triggered a large rockslide that killed 320 people.

The Malatraix is a mountain and ridge of the Swiss Prealps, overlooking Lake Geneva in the canton of Vaud. The summit is 1,931 metres (6,335 ft) high, while the rocky part of the southwestern ridge culminates at 1,768 metres (5,801 ft). The Malatraix is part of the range between the Rochers de Naye and the Tour d'Aï, which culminates at the Pointe d'Aveneyre (2,026 metres, 6,647 ft). It belongs to the municipality of Villeneuve.

The Pharmacy of the Eastern Vaud Hospitals is an inter-hospital pharmacy constituted as a nonprofit organization on 1 January 1984 by seven hospitals in the eastern part of the canton of Vaud, and considered of public interest.In the canton of Vaud, the regional hospitals have created a total of three similar pharmacies to supply them with medicines and provide a local pharmaceutical assistance. Following the creation of the Pharmacy of the Eastern Vaud Hospitals, the Pharmacie Interhospitalière de la Côte in Morges was created in 1996, and then the Pharmacie des Hôpitaux du Nord Vaudois et de la Broye in 2011 in Yverdon-les-Bains.

It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Simplon line of Swiss Federal Railways. The station is one city block east of the Villeneuve ferry terminal, with service to various destinations on Lake Geneva.

The Berneuse (or la Berneuse) is a mountain of the western Bernese Alps, above Leysin in the canton of Vaud. It lies on the range east of the Rhone valley, culminating at the Tour d'Aï. Its summit (2,045 m) is a popular destination, hosting the Kuklos, a revolving restaurant accessible by cable cabin from town. On a clear day, Lake Geneva is visible from this summit.

Aigle railway station (French: Gare de Aigle) is a railway station in the municipality of Aigle, in the Swiss canton of Vaud. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Simplon line of Swiss Federal Railways and the terminus of three 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) gauge lines operated by Transports Publics du Chablais: the Aigle–Leysin, Aigle–Ollon–Monthey–Champéry, and Aigle–Sépey–Diablerets lines.

The Tour d'Aï is a mountain in the western Bernese Alps, overlooking Leysin in the canton of Vaud. It is located near the Tour de Mayen, on the range lying between the Rhone and Col des Mosses, south of Lake Geneva, from where both summits can be easily seen. The summit can be accessed via a trail on its northern slopes, from the alp of Aï, near the Berneuse, above Leysin.
