Seijo University (成城大学, Seijō Daigaku) is a private university in Seijo, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan. It is operated by the Seijo Gakuen institute. Seijo University has its origins in Seijo Gakuen (成城学園), which was founded in 1917 by Dr. Masataro Sawayanagi, a former Minister of Education. Under the pre-World War II education system it was called ‘Seijo Higher School’. It became Seijo University in 1950. As the founder Masataro Sawayanagi directed, the university values education of respecting and developing individual perspectives by providing a wide range of small-sized classes. In 2017, it became 100 years since Seijo Gakuen Education Institute was founded.

NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories (STRL, Japanese: NHK放送技術研究所, romanized: NHK Hōsō Gijutsu Kenkyūjo), headquartered in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan, is responsible for technical research at NHK, Japan's public broadcaster. Work done by the STRL includes research on direct-broadcast satellite (BS), Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting, high-definition television, and ultra-high-definition television. On May 9, 2013, NHK and Mitsubishi Electric announced that they had jointly developed the first High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) encoder for 8K Ultra HD TV, which is also called Super Hi-Vision (SHV). The HEVC encoder supports the Main 10 profile at Level 6.1 allowing it to encode 10-bit video with a resolution of 7680 × 4320 at 60 fps. The HEVC encoder has 17 3G-SDI inputs and uses 17 boards for parallel processing with each board encoding a row of 7680 × 256 pixels to allow for real time video encoding. The HEVC encoder was shown at the NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories Open House 2013 that took place from May 30 to June 2.

TOHO Studios Co., Ltd. (Japanese: TOHOスタジオ株式会社, Hepburn: Tōhō Sutajio kabushiki gaisha) is a Japanese film production company that is a subsidiary of Toho Co., Ltd. Founded in November 8, 1971 as Toho Pictures, Inc. (株式会社東宝映画, Kabushiki gaisha Tōhō Eiga, lit. 'Toho Film Co., Ltd.'), the company originally served as a spin-off of Toho's original production department, and produced over 160 films. In December 2020, Toho Pictures merged with Toho Studio Service Co., Ltd. (株式会社東宝スタジオサービス, Kabushiki gaisha Tōhō Sutajio Sābisu), to create TOHO Studios, which is headquartered in Seijo, Setagaya, Tokyo.

Seijogakuen-mae Station (成城学園前駅, Seijōgakuen-mae-eki) is a railway station on the Odakyu Odawara Line in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan, operated by the private railway operator Odakyu Electric Railway. The station is named after the nearby Seijo University.

Kinuta Park (砧公園, Kinuta Kōen) is a park in Setagaya, Tokyo. The total area is 39 hectares (390,000 m2), about two-thirds of which (24 hectares (240,000 m2)) is grass. Kinuta Park is famous for its cherry blossom (sakura) viewing. It has at least three varieties—Someiyoshino (photo), Yamazakura, and Yaezakura—and this makes for a relatively long hanami viewing season of over two weeks.

The Setagaya Art Museum (世田谷美術館, Setagaya Bijutsukan) is an art museum in Yōga, Setagaya, Tokyo. The museum, which opened March 30, 1986, houses a permanent gallery and mounts seasonal exhibitions.

The Setagaya family murder (Japanese: 世田谷一家殺害事件, Hepburn: Setagaya ikka satsugai jiken, Setagaya family killings) refers to the unsolved murders of the Miyazawa family in the Kamisoshigaya neighborhood of Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan, on the night of 30 to 31 December 2000.Mikio Miyazawa, his wife Yasuko, their daughter Niina and son Rei were murdered during a home invasion by an unknown assailant who then remained in the family's house for several hours before disappearing. Japanese police launched a massive investigation that uncovered the killer's DNA and many specific clues about their identity, but the perpetrator has never been identified. The media frenzy and long investigation of the murders became a cause célèbre to abolish the statute of limitations for crimes that could merit the death penalty in Japan, which was removed in 2010.

Kitami Friendship Square (きたみふれあい広場, Kitami fureai hiroba) is a park in Kitami, Setagaya, Tokyo. The total area is 38,824.83 m². Kitami Friendship Square is built over an Odakyu Railway train maintenance facility. It is adjacent to the Nogawa River and part of the Nogawa River Greenbelt. As an elevated park it can be approached on the north, west and east (river) sides either by stairs or ramps.
