Middlesex Hospital was a teaching hospital located in the Fitzrovia area of London, England. First opened as the Middlesex Infirmary in 1745 on Windmill Street, it was moved in 1757 to Mortimer Street where it remained until it was finally closed in 2005. Its staff and services were transferred to various sites within the University College London Hospitals NHS Trust. The Middlesex Hospital Medical School, with a history dating back to 1746, merged with the medical school of University College London in 1987.

Fitzroy Place is an office, residential and retail estate in Fitzrovia, London. With 289 homes, with interiors designed by Johnson Naylor, and 220,000 sq ft of office space, Fitzroy Place houses a series of shops and restaurants, offices and community spaces, set around a publicly accessible central square. The square, which was the first new garden square in W1 for 100 years, incorporates the Grade II* listed Fitzrovia Chapel.Developed from the former Middlesex Hospital site, it was originally to be known as Noho Square, presumably a backformation from 'North' i.e. north of Oxford Street, as if Soho (which is located south of Oxford St) were derived from 'South'. The name, chosen by the Candy brothers for the development, was widely disliked.Redevelopment was halted by the global financial crisis, as an Icelandic bank was the biggest shareholder, but the project has now been taken on by Aviva Investors and Exemplar Properties, who subsequently sold their stake to AshbyCapital. The NoHo Square name was dropped and the scheme became known as Fitzroy Place.The offices at 2 Fitzroy Place are let to multiple tenants, with 12,866 sq ft available on the fourth floor, while 1 Fitzroy Place is fully let to cosmetics firm Estée Lauder. Retail and restaurant tenants include Percy & Founders and Detox Kitchen.

The Fitzrovia Chapel is situated in Pearson Square, in the centre of the Fitzroy Place development, bordered by Mortimer Street, Cleveland Street, Nassau Street and Riding House Street in Fitzrovia, Westminster. The chapel was designed by John Loughborough Pearson, and was built 1891–92, and though already in use, the interiors weren’t completed until 1929, overseen by his son Frank Loughborough Pearson (1864–1947).The chapel was built in the central courtyard of the former Middlesex Hospital, which was rebuilt in 1929-35 and subsequently demolished in 2008-15. The chapel was retained and it now stands in the Pearson Square development. The chapel is a Grade II* listed building, noted for its opulent Gothic Revival style and opulent mosaic interior.

Berners Mansions is a six-storey Edwardian mansion block located in Berners Street in the City of Westminster. Berners Mansions was designed in 1897 by George Dennis Martin (1848-1915), Architect, of Pall Mall East. It is an unlisted building of merit within the Charlotte Street West Conservation Area and recognised as a positive contributor to the townscape of Berners Street and East Marylebone. It is a red brick building situated on the corner of Berners Street and Mortimer Street (formerly Charles Street), opposite the site of the former Middlesex Hospital (now called Fitzroy Place) and comprises 10 residential flats and 4 ground floor shops.

Dickie Fitz was a restaurant in a former pub at 48 Newman Street on the corner with Goodge Street in the City of Westminster, London. It closed in June 2017. It had traded under that name for about one year as an Australian-themed restaurant but had previously been the home to restaurants Ping Pong and the Newman Street Tavern.It was built in 1899 on a site where there has been a pub since the 1780s. Previous pub names include The Oxford and Cambridge, The Cambridge Stores, The Cambridge Arms, and Garrick's Head. The "Cambridge coffee house" is recorded on the site in local directories of 1841 and 1856.

Goodge Place Market is an outdoor street market in Fitzrovia, in the London Borough of Camden. Licences to trade are issued by Camden London Borough Council.

The Berners Street hoax was perpetrated by Theodore Hook in Westminster, London, England, in 1809. Hook had made a bet with his friend Samuel Beazley that he could transform any house in London into the most talked-about address in a week, which he achieved by sending out thousands of letters in the name of Mrs Tottenham, who lived at 54 Berners Street, requesting deliveries, visitors, and assistance.

The Cleveland Street Workhouse is a Georgian property in Cleveland Street, Marylebone, built between 1775 and 1778 for the care of the sick and poor of the parish of St Paul Covent Garden under the Old Poor Law. From 1836, it became the workhouse of the Strand Union of parishes. The building remained in operation until 2005 after witnessing the complex evolution of the healthcare system in England. After functioning as a workhouse, the building became a workhouse infirmary before being acquired by the Middlesex Hospital and finally falling under the NHS. In the last century it was known as the Middlesex Hospital Annexe and the Outpatient Department. It closed to the public in 2005 and it has since been vacated. On 14 March 2011 the entire building became Grade II Listed. Development of the site began in 2019 by current owner University College London Hospitals (UCLH) Charity as a mixed-use development including residential, commercial and open space, but construction has been held up by the necessity to remove human remains stemming from the use of the area around the workhouse as a parish burial ground between 1780 and 1853. There has also been controversy about the amount of social housing to be included in the development.

The Sanderson Hotel is a hotel on Berners Street, London, built in 1958 as the new headquarters and showroom for Arthur Sanderson and Sons, manufacturers of wallpaper, fabrics and paint, for the company's centennial. The building was designed by architect Reginald Uren, of the architectural firm, Slater and Uren. The original design allowed for dynamic room configurations. The building surrounds a courtyard with a Japanese garden designed by Philip Hicks. The Sanderson building was listed Grade II* by English Heritage in 1991. After refurbishment by Philippe Starck and Denton Corker Marshall, it was reopened by Morgans Hotel Group as the Sanderson Hotel on 25 April 2000. In 2019 the hotel was sold to Vivion, a real estate firm backed by the Israeli tycoon Amir Dayan.The hotel occupies the site of 54 Berners Street, known for the Berners Street Hoax of 1810.

The Cartoon Museum is a London museum for British cartoons, caricatures and comic strips, owned and operated by the Cartoon Art Trust (Registered Charity 327 978). It has a library of over 5,000 books and 4,000 comics. The museum issues catalogues and features a changing display of over 250 exhibits from its collection of over 4,000 original cartoons and prints. The museum is "dedicated to preserving the best of British cartoons, caricatures, comics and animation, and to establishing a museum with a gallery, archives and innovative exhibitions to make the creativity of cartoon art past and present, accessible to all for the purposes of education, research and enjoyment.".

Wells Street is a street in the City of Westminster. It runs from Riding House Street in the north to Oxford Street in the south. It is crossed by Mortimer Street and Eastcastle Street. It is joined on its western side by Marylebone Passage and on the eastern side by Booth's Place and Wells Mews.

The Duke of York is a public house at 47 Rathbone Street, Fitzrovia, London, W1. It is located in the north of the street on the corner with Charlotte Place and bears the year 1791.In 1943 Anthony Burgess and his wife were drinking in the pub when they witnessed it invaded by a "razor gang". It has been speculated that this influenced the content of his later novel A Clockwork Orange.The current landlords are Debbie Sickelmore and Alan Monks. In 2012, the pub's licence was reviewed, after it was wrongly accused of failure to control customers outside the pub. The owners won their court case against Westminster council allowing customers to drink outside.In 2014, Prince Andrew, Duke of York gave permission for his image to be used on the new pub sign, making it the only known pub to bear the current Duke of York's image on its sign.
