Caesars Head

Caesars Head is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) on top of Caesars Head, a mountain in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 84.The CDP is in northwestern Greenville County along U.S. Route 276, 2 miles (3 km) south of the North Carolina border. The 3,208-foot (978 m) summit of Caesars Head is in the western part of the CDP, and most of the residential development is in the northeastern part, at elevations ranging from 2,800 to 3,200 feet (850 to 980 m) above sea level. The remainder of the CDP is within Caesars Head State Park. US 276 (Geer Highway) leads north 15 miles (24 km) to Brevard, North Carolina, and southeast 31 miles (50 km) to Greenville.

Bald Rock Heritage Preserve is a state preserve in Cleveland, South Carolina, within the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area and managed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. It is near Caesars Head State Park and overlooks Table Rock. Bald Rock is accessible via footbridge from a parking area off of U.S. Route 276. The property is closed at night (sunset to sunrise). No graffiti, alcohol, drugs, fires (or fireworks), camping, or littering is allowed on the property.

Caesars Head State Park is a park in northern Greenville County, South Carolina, that borders Transylvania County, North Carolina, and is reached via US 276. The eponymous rock formation, one of the highest points in Greenville County, is a granitic gneiss outcrop at 3,208 ft (978 m) above sea level on the Blue Ridge Escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains and rests roughly 2,000 ft (600 m) above the Piedmont below. The origin of the name "Caesars Head" is disputed, though the outcrop was most probably named for an early mountaineer's dog. Caesars Head State Park and Jones Gap State Park are jointly administered by the state Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism as part of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness.

DuPont State Recreational Forest, commonly known as DuPont Forest, is a 12,500-acre (51 km2) state forest, located in Henderson and Transylvania counties of North Carolina. The name originates from the fact that the DuPont company arranged the sale of the original tract to the state. Adjacent tracts have since been purchased and added to the state forest. Portions of the forest formerly contained a manufacturing facility for the production of X-ray film. The forest was used to shoot scenes from the 1992 film The Last of the Mohicans as well as the 2012 box office hit The Hunger Games. On February 12, 2019, the forest added 402 acres (1.63 km2) from Conserving Carolina, part of a section called the Continental Divide Tract that connects with other public lands. 314 more acres was added to the forest in 2019.

Headwaters State Forest is a 6,730-acre (27.2 km2) state forest, located in Transylvania County, North Carolina, along the South Carolina state line and is part of a larger 100,000+ acre conservation corridor that stretches some 80 miles along the state line. The name originates from the fact that the forest contains the headwaters of East Fork of the French Broad River. The North Carolina Forest Service primarily manages the forest for water and soil quality, as well as protecting rare species; however, primitive recreational uses are permitted.
