Holmes Educational State Forest (HESF) is a 235-acre (0.95 km2) state forest, located in Henderson County, North Carolina. It is near the much larger DuPont State Recreational Forest, which is responsible for its management. The forest is in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it has rugged terrain with a mixture of hardwood forest, rhododendron, and flame azalea. The forest's primary purpose is education and promotion of forest resources. Forest rangers regularly conduct outdoor classes for schools and other groups from spring to fall. The forest also has self-guided interpretive trails, which teach visitors about forestry through the use of trail-side exhibits, displays and audio boxes. In addition, the forest offers a small network of hiking trails, a picnic area with a shelter and a group campground. The state originally purchased the forest in 1938 to establish a tree nursery, which was subsequently constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The state received a federal grant in 1972 to convert the nursery into an educational state forest. The forest was opened in May 1977, during its dedication to North Carolina's first state forester, Dr. John S. Holmes.

The Dillard B. and Georgia Sewell House is a historic summer house at 64 Clipper Lane in western Henderson County, North Carolina. It is a 1+1⁄2-story rustic stone structure, with a wood shake roof and a full-width porch fronting a stone patio. It is located southeast of Penrose, atop Jeter Mountain on a 9-acre (3.6 ha) parcel straddling the county line between Henderson and Transylvania Counties. The house was built in 1924 for Dillard Sewell, an insurance company executive from Charleston, South Carolina, and his wife Georgia. It is a well-preserved example of Rustic Revival architecture.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in April 2015.

The origin of the name "Caesars Head" is disputed, though the outcrop was most probably named for an early mountaineer's dog. Caesars Head is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) on top of Caesars Head, a mountain in Greenville County, South Carolina, United States. It was first listed as a CDP in the 2020 census with a population of 84.The CDP is in northwestern Greenville County along U.S. Route 276, 2 miles (3 km) south of the North Carolina border. The 3,208-foot (978 m) summit of Caesars Head is in the western part of the CDP, and most of the residential development is in the northeastern part, at elevations ranging from 2,800 to 3,200 feet (850 to 980 m) above sea level. The remainder of the CDP is within Caesars Head State Park. US 276 (Geer Highway) leads north 15 miles (24 km) to Brevard, North Carolina, and southeast 31 miles (50 km) to Greenville.
