Schiedam

Te Riviere Castle (also known as Huis Mathenesse) is a ruinous castle located in Schiedam, Netherlands.

De Noord (English: The North) is a windmill located on the Noordvest 38 in Schiedam, Netherlands. It is the tallest windmill in the world with a roof height of 33.3 metres. Its wing span is 26.6 metres. The mill is one of the five remaining windmills in Schiedam, and is a national monument (nr 32716) since 29 May 1969. Today De Noord houses a restaurant.

Parkweg is an underground subway station in the Dutch town of Schiedam, located just west of Rotterdam. The station is part of Rotterdam Metro line C and was opened as a result of an extension of the East-West Line (also formerly called Caland line) which opened in November 2002. This extension connected the former terminus Marconiplein to the North-South Line (also Erasmus line) at Tussenwater station.

The Schiedam train disaster took place in the Netherlands on 4 May 1976 near the station Schiedam Rotterdam-West. The international Rhine Express boat train (D-train D215) from Hook of Holland, which left for Munich and was hauled by NS Class 1300 electric locomotive no. 1311 Best collided with a train of the then new sprinter type, (trainset 2008 of Stoptrein 4116) coming from Rotterdam. The collision caused the deaths of 24 people (in the forward carriage of the 2008), 5 severe casualties and several tens of less severely injured. The disaster was the second major train crash near Schiedam, following the first major train accident in the Netherlands, which happened on 10 August 1856 and caused 3 deaths.

Schiedam Centrum is a railway station and metro station in Schiedam, just to the west of Rotterdam, Netherlands, on the railway line between The Hague and Rotterdam Centraal. Train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen, and metro, tram and bus services are operated by Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram.

De Nolet (also known as Noletmolen) is a wind turbine in Schiedam, The Netherlands which is disguised as a traditional Schiedam windmill. De Nolet has a tower height of 43 metres and a gross height of 55 metres including its rotor tips.It is 9 metres higher than De Noord which is the tallest windmill in the world. De Nolet was built in 2005 by the Nolet Distillery to power their brewing factory which produces the Ketel One vodkas and gins.

Nieuwland, Kortland, en 's-Graveland (often abbreviated to "Nieuwland c.a.") is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It was located on three sides of the city of Schiedam. The municipality existed between 1817 and 1855.The municipality consisted of three polders: Kortland, west of Schiedam; Nieuwland, north of the city; and 's-Graveland, northeast of the city. Nieuwland is now the name of a neighbourhood of Schiedam, located in the former municipality. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, Nieuwland c.a. had about 330 inhabitants.

Sportpark Thurlede is a cricket ground in Schiedam, Netherlands. The first recorded match on the ground came in 1996 when the Netherlands played Somerset in a friendly. The ground later held a single Women's One Day International there in 2003 between Scotland Women played West Indies Women in the IWCC Trophy.The Netherlands hosted the 2010 World Cricket League Division One tournament, with two One Day Internationals being played there, both matches being between Canada and Kenya. These matches also hold List A status, with the ground hosting two more List A matches later in 2010 when the ground hosted two matches in the 2010 Clydesdale Bank 40. In these the Netherlands played Derbyshire and Yorkshire.The ground is used by Excelsior 20 Cricket Club.

Troelstralaan is a metro station in Schiedam, situated on Rotterdam Metro line C. The station was opened on 4 November 2002 as part of the last major expansion of the Rotterdam metro. The main entrance, at the east end of the subway station, is located on the street named after P.J. Troelstra, and the island platform is accessible by entrances on both ends.

Schiedam Nieuwland is a metro station in Schiedam in the Netherlands. Located on the Hoekse Lijn, it is served by RET Metro Line B at all times, and Line A during peak periods. The station is built on the bridge over the Nieuwe Damlaan, one of the principal streets northwest of the city centre of Schiedam.

Nieuw-Mathenesse is a neighborhood of Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Oud- en Nieuw-Mathenesse is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It was located to the west of Schiedam. The municipality existed between 1817 and 1868, when it merged with Schiedam. The area is now divided between Schiedam and Rotterdam, and is completely covered by residential areas and the Merwehaven port.
