Müggelturm

The Müggelberge (also formerly called the Müggelsberge) are a wooded line of hills with heights up to 114.7 m above sea level (NHN) in the southeast of Berlin's Treptow-Köpenick quarter. They are dominated by the Kleiner Müggelberg (88.3 m) and Großer Müggelberg (114.7 m). The Müggelberge cover an area of around seven square kilometres. The ridge was formed during the ice age. A viewing tower called the Müggelturm has been erected on the hills with a view of the Müggelsee and the Berlin-Müggelberge TV Tower.

The Berlin-Müggelberge TV tower is the 31 metre tall base of a tower, never completed, in the Müggel hills of southeast Berlin, Germany. The tower base is currently used as radio relay link station. The tower was originally planned as the TV tower for Berlin. It was to have a total height of 425 feet (130 meters) with an observation platform at 230 feet (70 meters). After construction was started in 1954, a survey indicated that the tower would endanger aircraft on approach to the Berlin-Schoenefeld airport. For this reason, on 13 December 1955 construction was stopped. The tower base was later used by the East German Ministry for State Security (Ministerium für Staatssicherheit or Stasi) as a listening post. Today it serves the Deutsche Telekom AG as radio relay link station and has a radar dome on its top. Close to the tower, there is a 64 metre tall lattice tower with aerials for non-public mobile radio services and directional antennas. The Berlin-Müggelberge TV tower is not accessible to the public and is not to be confused with the Berlin-Müggelberge look-out, known as the Müggelturm (Müggel tower), which is publicly accessible.

The Langer See is a lake situated in the south-eastern outskirts of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. The lake is aligned south-east to north-west and forms part of the course of the River Dahme. The Langer See is approximately 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long, with an average width of 221 metres (725 ft) and an area of 2.43 square kilometres (0.94 sq mi). The Dahme flows into the Langer See from the Zeuthener See, at the south-east end of the lake by the Berlin suburb of Schmöckwitz. It flows out to the north-west near Köpenick and its confluence with the River Spree. At Schmöckwitz the Langer See also mingles with the Seddinsee. Like the River Dahme, the Langer See is navigable. Besides traffic to the upstream reaches of the Dahme, the lake also carries traffic to the Oder-Spree Canal, which links with the Seddinsee and provides a commercial waterway link between Berlin and Poland.The Langer See is crossed by two of Berlin's passenger ferries that are operated by the BVG, the municipal transport operator. The F12 crosses from Müggelbergallee (in Köpenick) to Wassersportallee (in Grünau), and operates all year. The F21 crosses from Krampenburg via Große Krampe (both in Müggelheim) to Zum Seeblick (in Schmöckwitz), and operates only in summer.The regatta course on the Langer See at Grünau was used for the Olympic canoeing and rowing events at the 1936 Summer Olympics.

The Müggelsee (German pronunciation: [ˈmʏɡl̩ˌzeː] (listen)), also known as the Großer Müggelsee, is a natural lake in the eastern suburbs of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. It is the largest of the Berlin lakes by area, with an area of 7.4 square kilometres (2.9 sq mi), a length of 4.3 kilometres (2.7 mi) The lake is in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. The suburbs of Köpenick, Friedrichshagen, Rahnsdorf and a little section of Müggelheim border on the lake. The lake itself is 8 metres (26 ft) deep at its deepest point. At its south end are hills called the 'Müggelberge', which are 115 metres (377 ft) high; they were formed during the Pleistocene (as a kettle hole, remaining at Weichselian glaciation). On the so-called 'Kleiner Müggelberg', the much-visited and popular 'Müggelturm' (a tower) was built, the first one in 1889 (destroyed in a fire in 1958), and the current one in 1960/61. The tower offers extensive views over the lake and the forests against the Berlin skyline.The River Spree flows into the lake via the smaller Kleiner Müggelsee, which is only 0.16 square kilometres (0.062 sq mi) in area. The Friedrichshagen waterworks on the northern bank of the Müggelsee obtains most of its water from the lake. There are also numerous deep wells located near the banks, and are mainly fed by the bank filtrate and only to a small share by groundwater.

The Erpe is a tributary of Spree River in Brandenburg and Berlin, Germany. The upper third is also known als Langes Elsenfließ ("Long Lizzy-Flow"), the lower two thirds for about half a century were noted as Neuenhagener Mühlenfließ. Previously they had been one of several Mühlenfließe ("Mill Flow"s) without a specification. The course itself is quite natural, but it suffers pollution from a purification plant.

Berlin-Hirschgarten station is a station of the Berlin S-Bahn in district of Hirschgarten in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. It is located north of Hirschgarten on the Berlin-Frankfurt (Oder) railway. The station is served by Berlin S-Bahn line S3 between Erkner and Ostkreuz. Services operate at 10-minute intervals between Ostkreuz and Friedrichshagen.

Köpenick (German pronunciation: [ˈkøːpənɪk] (listen)) is a historic town and locality (Ortsteil) in Berlin, situated at the confluence of the rivers Dahme and Spree in the south-east of the German capital. It was formerly known as Copanic and then Cöpenick, only officially adopting the current spelling in 1931. It is also known for the famous imposter Hauptmann von Köpenick. Prior to its incorporation into Berlin in 1920, Köpenick had been an independent town. It then became a borough of Berlin, and with an area of 128 km2 (49 sq mi), Berlin's largest. As a result of Berlin's 2001 administrative reform, the borough of Köpenick was merged with that of Treptow to create the current borough of Treptow-Köpenick. Köpenick is home to the Bundesliga football club 1. FC Union Berlin, who play at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Mellowpark, the largest outdoor skatepark in Europe, is located in the town.

Berlin-Köpenick station is a station of the Berlin S-Bahn in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. It is a two-track through station located at Bahnhofstrasse and Elcknerplatz on the Berlin-Frankfurt (Oder) railway ("Lower Silesian–Markish Railway").
