Köpenick

The Dahme is a river that flows through the German states of Brandenburg and Berlin. It is a left bank tributary of the River Spree and is approximately 95 kilometres (59 mi) long.

Schloss Köpenick is a Baroque water palace of the Hohenzollern electors of Brandenburg which stands on an island in the Dahme River surrounded by an English-style park and gives its name to Köpenick, a district of Berlin. The castle was originally built on the foundations of a Slavic castle (6th century) in 1558 as a hunting lodge by order of Elector Joachim II Hector of Brandenburg. The building in a Renaissance style was located on the river island at the site of the former medieval fort. Joachim II died here in 1571. In 1631 it served as the headquarters of King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden, where he - without results - asked his brother-in-law Elector George William for assistance in the Thirty Years' War. Frederick I of Prussia had the lodge rebuilt and enlarged from 1677 and lived here together with his first wife Elizabeth Henrietta of Hesse-Kassel. In 1730 Frederick II of Prussia, then Crown Prince, and his friend Hans Hermann von Katte faced the court-martial for desertion at Schloss Köpenick. Today the castle surrounded by a small park serves as the Museum of Decorative Arts, run by the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation as part of the Berlin State Museums. Since 1963, Köpenick Palace has been used by the Kunstgewerbemuseum as an exhibition space. Being renovated in 2004, the palace accommodates museum of arts with the permanent exhibition "RoomArt", featuring the decorative arts of the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods. The museum also presents the outstanding masterworks in interior design from the 16th to 18th centuries.

The Lange Brücke is a road bridge over the Dahme in the Berlin district of Köpenick. It represents an important traffic connection between the old town of Köpenick and the newer districts to the west and north-west. In the immediate vicinity of the bridge, on the right bank of the Dahme and south of the old town, is the castle island with the Köpenick castle.The current bridge was originally built in 1892 as a stone arch bridge - as a successor to earlier Dahmeüberwege, which were made of wood and whose existence is documented from the beginning of the 15th century. In the 1930s, traffic was adjusted by means of a provisional widening using a “makeshift building”; In the late 1990s, the city administration had the bridge dismantled, completely refurbished and again widened with a modified construction. Since then there has been a temporary steel bridge next to the historic bridge, which is still used today as a temporary measure. The historic stone bridge has been a listed building since 1992. For a long time the Dahmebrücke was referred to as the "Bridge of Sighs", which goes back to a legend about the cruel end of a pair of lovers from the Ascanian period (13th century). This bridge name and its origin are partly still known in Berlin today.

Treptow-Köpenick (German pronunciation: [ˈtʁeːpto ˈkøːpənɪk] (listen)) is the ninth borough of Berlin, Germany, formed in Berlin's 2001 administrative reform by merging the former boroughs of Treptow and Köpenick.

Berlin-Köpenick station is a station of the Berlin S-Bahn in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. It is a two-track through station located at Bahnhofstrasse and Elcknerplatz on the Berlin-Frankfurt (Oder) railway ("Lower Silesian–Markish Railway").

Stadion An der Alten Försterei (English: Stadium at the old forester's house) is a football stadium in Köpenick and the largest single-purpose football stadium in the German capital of Berlin. It has been home to football club 1. FC Union Berlin and its forerunners since its opening in 1920. The stadium's capacity was last redeveloped in 2009 and expanded in 2013. Some of the redevelopment work was carried out by over 2,300 Union Berlin supporters volunteering their services. During league matches the arena features a total capacity of 22,012. There are 3,617 seats available whilst the rest of the ground remains terracing. The stadium became also known for events like the annual "Weihnachtssingen" (Christmas Carols Event) and the "WM-Wohnzimmer" (World Cup Living Room) in 2014.

The Wuhle is a small right-bank tributary of the Spree. It originates in a ground moraine in Brandenburg near Ahrensfelde and flows through the Berlin boroughs of Marzahn-Hellersdorf and Treptow-Köpenick before joining the Spree. It is the primary in- and outflow of the Wuhlebecken. The Wuhle is depicted in the coat of arms of Marzahn-Hellersdorf.

Spindlersfeld is a railway station in the Treptow-Köpenick district of Berlin on the Schöneweide–Spindlersfeld branch line. It is the eastern terminus of the S-Bahn line . It is located at the corner of Oberspreestraße and Ernst-Grube-Straße. A two-track development of the station is not in sight; even if the proposed duplication of the whole line goes ahead, the terminus will still have only one track.

The Erpe is a tributary of Spree River in Brandenburg and Berlin, Germany. The upper third is also known als Langes Elsenfließ ("Long Lizzy-Flow"), the lower two thirds for about half a century were noted as Neuenhagener Mühlenfließ. Previously they had been one of several Mühlenfließe ("Mill Flow"s) without a specification. The course itself is quite natural, but it suffers pollution from a purification plant.

Berlin-Hirschgarten station is a station of the Berlin S-Bahn in district of Hirschgarten in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick. It is located north of Hirschgarten on the Berlin-Frankfurt (Oder) railway. The station is served by Berlin S-Bahn line S3 between Erkner and Ostkreuz. Services operate at 10-minute intervals between Ostkreuz and Friedrichshagen.

Adlershof (German: [ˈaːdlɐsˌhoːf] (listen), literally "Eagle's Court") is a locality (Ortsteil) in the borough (Bezirk) Treptow-Köpenick of Berlin, Germany.Adlershof is home to the new City of Science, Technology and Media (WISTA), located on the southwestern edge of the locality.
