The Hertie School (until 2019 Hertie School of Governance) is a German private, independent graduate school for governance (public policy, international affairs and data science) located in Berlin's Friedrichstraße. It is a public policy school and is accredited to confer master's and doctoral degrees. Half of the students in the Hertie School come from abroad, with more than 95 countries represented among alumni and currently enrolled students. The working language is English. The research focus of the Hertie School, which has existed since its founding, lies in the analysis of the conditions, structures and dynamics of governance.Since 2018, the Hertie School has established five research centres (Centres of Competence) that focus on future key governance challenges: the Centre for International Security, the Centre for Digital Governance, the Centre for Fundamental Rights, the Jacques Delors Centre and the Centre for Sustainability (from 2021). Additionally, the School’s Data Science Lab uses research in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle major societal problems.

The German Institute for Economic Research (German: Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung), or, more commonly DIW Berlin, is a economic research institute in Germany, involved in basic research and policy advice. It is a non-profit academic institution, financed with public grants from the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research and the Federal Department for Economics and Technology. DIW Berlin was founded in 1925 as the Institute for Business Cycle Research and was later renamed. DIW Berlin presents its research results in science journals, within the scope of national and international scientific events as well as at workshops, symposia and colloquia. Current economic and structural data, forecasts and advice as well as services in the area of quantitative economics are provided to decision makers in economics and policy and the broad public. Furthermore, the research results often meet with a major response in the news media.

The German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP [/'zœp/], for Sozio-oekonomisches Panel) is a longitudinal panel dataset of the population in Germany. It is a household based study which started in 1984 and which reinterviews adult household members annually. Additional samples have been taken from time to time. In 2015, there will be about 14,000 households, and more than 30,000 adult persons sampled. Some of the many topics surveyed include household composition, occupation, employment, earnings, health and life satisfaction. The annual surveys are conducted by the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) and the Kantar Group. The survey is funded by the German Federal Government and the State of Berlin via the «Bund-Länder-Kommission» (State/Federal State Commission) for Educational Planning and Research Promotion.Data are available to social science researchers in Germany and abroad in SPSS/PSPP, SAS/DAP, Stata, R/S-PLUS and ASCII format. Extensive documentation in English and German is available online. SOEP data are integrated into the Cross National Equivalent File (CNEF) which contains panel data from Australia, Canada, Germany, Great Britain and the United States. The data distribution of the SOEP for researchers outside of Germany is supplied with the CNEF by a group at Ohio State University. Application to use this international distribution has to be made to the DIW Berlin.

Stadtmitte (City Centre) is a Berlin U-Bahn station on lines U2 and U6, located in the Mitte district.

Französische Straße was a Berlin U-Bahn underground station on the line located under the street Friedrichstraße in central Berlin. This station was built by Grenander/Fehse/Jennen and opened in 1923. In 1945 it closed for a few months; it was permanently closed in 1961. During the Cold War (1961–1990), the station became a ghost station. The station was closed to passenger traffic, and the underground trains of the West Berlin BVG passed the island platform in East Berlin slowly without stopping. In 1990, after the Berlin Wall fell, the station became accessible again. In 1995, the platform had to be lengthened by 25 m so that the long, six-car trains could stop there. It is the only former partition-related ghost station in Berlin to have since been closed a second time, albeit for different reasons.

The merger took place on 29 January 2018. The association is based in Berlin. Its managing director is Felix Falk.

The Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (German: Bundesministerium für Bildung, Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend; abbreviated BMBFSFJ) is a cabinet-level ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is headquartered in Berlin with a secondary seat in Bonn. The ministry has been headed by Karin Prien since 6 May 2025.

The Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin in Berlin, Germany, is one of the leading universities of music in Europe. It was established in East Berlin in 1950 as the Deutsche Hochschule für Musik (German: German Academy of Music) because the older Hochschule für Musik Berlin (now the Berlin University of the Arts) was in West Berlin. After the death of one of its first professors, composer Hanns Eisler, the school was renamed in his honor in 1964. After a renovation in 2005, the university is located in both Berlin's famed Gendarmenmarkt and the Neuer Marstall. The Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin has a variety of ensembles including chamber music, choirs, orchestras and jazz.

The Barenboim–Said Akademie (German: Barenboim-Said Akademie, Arabic: أكاديمية بارنبويم-سعيد, Hebrew: אקדמיית ברנבוים-סעיד) is an academy located in Berlin, Germany, offering Bachelor degrees and Artist Diploma certificates in music; it opened on 8 December 2016. It was co-founded by the conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim and the literary theorist Edward Said. The academy was financed to a capacity of 90 young musicians, with an admissions focus on the Middle East and North Africa, in the spirit of the West–Eastern Divan Orchestra.

The Commission for the Protection of Minors in the Media (German: Kommission für Jugendmedienschutz, KJM) is a German state organisation that is intended to regulate the exposure of children to mass media. It is responsible for promoting compliance with the State Treaty on Youth Media Protection (German: Jugendmedienschutz-Staatsvertrag). In February 2018 it commissioned research into loot boxes in video games, but concluded in March 2018 that loot boxes did not at that time constitute a specific threat to children. In 2021, the organisation stated that it intended to block several Internet pornography websites for failing to implement age verification for access to their content.
