Toothill, Swindon

South Leaze is a hamlet within the Borough of Swindon, Wiltshire, United Kingdom. It is south of the nearby village of Toothill and is nearby to the Mannington Retail Park & the National Cycle Route 45 passes through the hamlet. There were cottages in the hamlet as late as 2008.In 2021, the highway infrastructure scheme from Swindon Borough Council built a tunnel underneath the M4 motorway; this will form part of the eventual connection between Hay Lane and the residential development of Wichelstowe. It has not yet been announced when the road connection linking Wichelstowe and South Leaze will be completed.

The Link Centre is a leisure centre in Swindon, England. The building, owned by Swindon Borough Council and operated by Greenwich Leisure under the brand "Better", is best known for its national-sized ice rink which houses a National Ice Hockey League team, the Swindon Wildcats.

Rushey Platt railway station is a former station on the Midland and South Western Junction Railway at Rushey Platt, south west of the centre of Swindon in Wiltshire. The line was extended in 1882, and the station opened on 18 December 1883 on the Swindon and Cheltenham Extension Railway line from Swindon Town to the temporary terminus at Cirencester Watermoor. The S&CER line amalgamated in 1884 with the Swindon, Marlborough and Andover Railway to form the M&SWJR, and through services beyond Cirencester to the junction at Andoversford with the Great Western Railway's Cheltenham Lansdown to Banbury line, which had opened in 1881, started in 1891. An additional loop for goods traffic opened in 1921.Rushey Platt was at the junction where the 1883 S&CER line branched off from the SM&AR link line between Swindon Town railway station and the main Great Western Railway station at Swindon. It had platforms on both the through S&CER line and the link, but the service between the two Swindon stations ceased after March 1885 because of the high fees the GWR charged the M&SWJR to run over its tracks, and that part of the station closed only 15 months after it had opened. Passenger services at the through platforms of the station lasted only a further 20 years and were withdrawn in 1905: the station closed on 1 October 1905, the first station on the line to close to passengers. However, the station remained open for goods traffic, mainly milk, until the M&SWJR line closed to goods in 1964, and a private siding lasted even longer. The railway embankment is still visible and all that remains of the station is a very weathered upper platform. The rest of the station has disappeared through time and development, and some of the site has been replaced by part of an industrial warehouse in Swindon's Rushey Platt Industrial Park. The route of the former railway can still be seen with bridges at Mill Lane and Redpost Road.

West Swindon is a civil parish in the borough of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. In 2021 it had a population of 26,846.

The Renault Centre (or the Renault Distribution Centre) is a high tech building in Swindon commissioned by the French car company Renault for their UK operations. Designed by the British architect Norman Foster of Foster Associates, it opened in 1982 and Renault moved out in 2001. Since 2001 the building has been known as The Spectrum Building. It was listed Grade II* by English Heritage in 2013.

The Wilts & Berks Canal is a canal in the historic counties of Wiltshire and Berkshire, England, linking the Kennet and Avon Canal at Semington near Melksham, to the River Thames at Abingdon. The North Wilts Canal merged with it to become a branch to the Thames and Severn Canal at Latton near Cricklade. Among professional trades boatmen, the canal was nicknamed the Ippey Cut, possibly short for Chippenham. The 52-mile (84 km) canal was opened in 1810, but abandoned in 1914 – a fate hastened by a breach at Stanley aqueduct in 1901. Much of the canal subsequently became unnavigable: many of the structures were deliberately damaged by army demolition exercises; parts of the route were filled in and in some cases built over. In 1977 the Wilts & Berks Canal Amenity Group was formed with a view to full restoration of the canal. Several locks and bridges have since been restored, and over 8 miles (13 km) of the canal have been rewatered.

Wichelstowe is a residential development and urban extension on the southern edge of the town of Swindon in South West England, constructed from late 2006. Located north of the M4 motorway between junction 16 and Croft Road, Wichelstowe has three neighbourhoods: East, Middle and West Wichel. The development will comprise up to 4500 homes, employment space, public open space, shopping, community facilities for residents and various schools. In 2014 it was described as the country's largest housing project on public-owned land.

Freshbrook is a suburb in the west of Swindon, England, close to junction 16 of the M4 motorway. Most houses in the area are found in culs-de-sac, except for those on the few main roads. The suburb is served by the shops of a small "village centre" and has a primary school. Adjacent areas are Grange Park to the north and west, Toothill to the east, Blagrove industrial estate to the south, and Windmill Hill business park to the west.

The Princess Margaret Hospital was a large hospital situated in Okus Road, Swindon, Wiltshire, England. It was managed by the Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust.

The Church of St. Augustine is an Anglican parish church in Even Swindon (also known locally as Rodbourne), an area of the town of Swindon, Wiltshire, England. The church was built to serve the spiritual needs of people moving to Swindon because of the Great Western Railway Works. The building was designed by W A H Masters, who also designed St Luke's Church, Broad Street, Swindon, and St Philip's, Upper Stratton. The church is in the Diocese of Bristol and the province of Canterbury, and is dedicated to St. Augustine of Canterbury.

Lydiard Park Academy, formerly known as Greendown Community School, is a mixed sex comprehensive secondary school for students aged between 11 and 18 years in the Grange Park area of Swindon, England. As of December 2022, there were 1271 students enrolled. It adopted academy status in August 2011 and is the founding member of The Park Academies Trust.

Heelis is the central office of the National Trust, in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. Heelis was the married name of Beatrix Potter, one of the key figures in the early history of the National Trust. It was built in 2005 by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. It is considered one of the greenest office buildings in England, incorporating silent, natural ventilation and open-plan meeting spaces.
