In recent years Seddon has experienced rapid gentrification due to its close proximity to the Melbourne City Centre.

The Yarraville Oval is an Australian rules football and cricket ground located on the corner of Williamstown Road and Anderson Street in Yarraville, Victoria. It is currently the home ground of the Yarraville/Seddon Eagles Football Club and the Yarraville Cricket Club. The ground was most notable as the home of the Yarraville Football Club throughout almost its entire existence in both the Victorian Junior Football Association from 1903 until 1927, and then in the Victorian Football Association from 1928 until 1982; the club played its games at the Western Oval in its final season in 1983. The ground was originally managed by a group of trustees, but management of the ground was transferred to the Footscray Council in 1928 to enable the ground to be upgraded to Association standards. The City of Maribyrnong, which incorporates the former City of Footscray, remains the ground manager.In 1942, Yarraville Oval was the home of the Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football League because its normal home ground, the Western Oval, was being used as an army base, whilst the VFA was in recess until 1945. The Western Region Football League had its head office at the Oval until 2010. A ground record crowd estimated to be between 16,000 and 18,000 attended Ron Todd's first VFA match for Williamstown, played against Yarraville on 20 April 1940. The record crowd for a VFL game was set on 25 July 1942 when 15,000 fans turned out to see Footscray defeat eventual grand finalist Richmond by seven points in a high-scoring game.One of the most noticeable features of the Yarraville Oval is the historic W. Pedley Stand. The grandstand was built in two sections and has a unique V shape: the southern half of the stand was built in 1929, and the northern half was built in 1940. The viewing area of the grandstand was damaged by fire in 2017.

The St. Prophet Ilija Macedonian Orthodox Church (Macedonian: Македонска Православна Црква „Свети Пророк Илија“, Makedonska Pravoslavna Crkva „Sveti Prorok Ilija“) is a Macedonian Orthodox church serving the inner western Melbourne suburb of Footscray, Victoria, Australia. The church borders Footscray and is itself located on the outskirts of Seddon, a inner western Melburnian suburb. Built as a Methodist Church, it was transformed into a Macedonian Orthodox Church in the mid 1970s.

Middle Footscray railway station is located on the Sunbury line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Footscray, and it opened on 10 December 1906.In 1927, the station was moved about 160 metres west and reconstructed, to allow for the construction of the South Kensington – West Footscray goods line.Two dual gauge goods tracks operate north of the station, linking the Port of Melbourne and other freight terminals to the rest of the state. Since 1962, those tracks have formed part of the Melbourne – Sydney standard gauge line and, since 1995, have also formed part of the Melbourne – Adelaide standard gauge line. The Regional Rail Link lines operate to the south of the station.

CSR Yarraville is an operating sugar refinery at Whitehall Street, Yarraville, City of Maribyrnong, Victoria, Australia. It was built from 1872 to 1980s. It is also known as Colonial Sugar Refining Company Refinery of Yarraville. It was added to the Victorian Heritage Register on 21 October 1992.

The West Gate Bridge is a steel, box girder, cable-stayed bridge in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, spanning the Yarra River just north of its mouth into Port Phillip. It carries the West Gate Freeway and is a vital link between the Melbourne central business district (CBD) and western suburbs, with the industrial suburbs in the west, and with the city of Geelong 80 kilometres (50 mi) to the south-west. It is part of one of the busiest road corridors in Australia. The high span bridge was built to allow large cargo ships to access the docks in the Yarra River. The main river span is 336 metres (1,102 ft) long, and 58 metres (190 ft) above the water. The total length of the bridge is 2,582.6 metres (8,473 ft). It is the fifth-longest in Australia, the longest being Melbourne's Bolte Bridge at 5 kilometres (3.1 mi). The West Gate Bridge is twice as long as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and is one of the highest road decks in Australia, higher than Sydney Harbour Bridge's 49 metres (161 ft). The bridge passes over Westgate Park, a large environmental and recreational reserve created during the bridge's construction. It carries up to 200,000 vehicles per day.
