A. N. McCallum High School is a public high school in Austin, Texas, United States. McCallum, the second oldest high school in the Austin Independent School District (formerly known as Austin Public Schools prior to desegregation in 1971), opened in 1953 to relieve growth in north and northwest Austin. Named after AISD's first high school superintendent, A.N. McCallum, the school strives to reflect the initiatives and achievements of its namesake. In 1994, McCallum motioned to make its campus the home of AISD's Fine Arts Academy. Currently, the Fine Arts Academy is open to all students in AISD who wish to attend, given that they are accepted following an admissions process. Current fine arts strands include visual arts, dance, theatre (acting/performance and technical), cinematic arts, voice, and instrumental music (band, orchestra, classical guitar, and collaborative piano). The Fine Arts Academy was recently named the 2015 Grammy Foundation's National Signature School, the lone recipient out of thousands of fine arts high schools in the country. McCallum had previously ranked as a Signature School Finalist in 2005, a decade before winning the highest award possible.Topping the list of thirteen high schools in the country, McCallum's recognition as the National Signature School earned the music program $5,000 from the Grammy Foundation and the Grammy In The Schools program. As recipient of the Foundation's Gold Award, McCallum High School earned the title of best music program in a public U.S. high school through making outstanding commitments to arts education throughout an academic school year. Student ensembles benefitting directly from this award included concert band, choral ensemble, orchestra, classical guitar ensemble, jazz band, and steel pan ensemble.

Highland is a Capital MetroRail commuter rail station in Austin, Texas, USA. It is located in northeast Austin at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Highland Mall Boulevard, just northwest of the I-35/Highway 290 interchange directly across the street from Highland Mall. The station is within a 15 minute walking distance to the Austin Greyhound Terminal located at 916 E Koenig Ln, Austin, TX 78751.This is the planned northern terminus of the Gold Line bus rapid transit.

Highland Mall was a shopping mall located in north Austin, Texas, United States, on Airport Boulevard west of I-35 and north of US Route 290. Opened in 1971, Highland Mall was Austin's first suburban shopping mall. Highland Mall was jointly owned by General Growth and Simon Property Group until 2011. Austin Community College began acquiring the surrounding land in 2010, assumed ownership of the last parcel it did not already control in August 2011. On April 29, 2015, Highland Mall officially closed its doors.

Huntington-Surrey School is a private non-sectarian college preparatory high school located in Austin, Texas. It was founded in 1973 and is located northwest of the University of Texas campus. The school's goal is to produce young adults who graduate with the tools and the desire to keep learning throughout their lives. Individual attention and a personalized educational experience come from a low student-to-teacher ratios: 8-1 in core classes, 6-1 in math, and 1-1 in the literature program, which is based on the British tutorial method. The school offers a personal educational experience curriculum with a particular focus on composition and literature, with standard science, history, and math classes also required. Electives, which are offered on Fridays, draw on the various interests and talents of the faculty. Some remarkable features of the student experience at Huntington-Surrey include the very small class sizes and the school days with built-in help for accomplishing homework assignments, including math homework always done in the presence of a math teacher. The school is accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED/ Southern Association of Colleges and Schools).

Lammes Candies (/læmz/) is a family-owned Texas confectionery and chocolatier company founded by William Wirt Lamme in 1878. It has been passed down through five generations of Lammes family members, and remains a vital part of Austin culture today. Crestview is a Capital MetroRail commuter rail station and Capital MetroRapid bus rapid transit station in Austin, Texas. It is at the edge of the Crestview neighborhood of North Austin, at the corner of Airport Boulevard and North Lamar Boulevard. The North Lamar Transit Center is one mile (1.6 km) north of the station, and the Highland Mall Transit Center (across from the Highland station) is 1⁄2 mile (0.8 km) to the southeast. There is no on-site parking at the Crestview station. Riders must park at the North Lamar Transit center and take buses 1 or 801 south to the train. With Project Connect, the Blue and Orange Lines will have a connection to this station.

The Blue Bonnet Court, originally called the Bluebonnet Tourist Camp, is a historic motor court-style motel in north-central Austin, Texas. It is located at 4407 Guadalupe Street, Austin, Texas. The lot where it stands originally belonged to the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Land Company. In 1925 the land was then purchased by the Halls and had several owners over four years until Elizabeth and Joe Lucas purchased the land for $1,000 in February 1929.Joe and Elizabeth Lucas then hired the Brydson Lumber Company to construct the Bluebonnet Tourist Camp in anticipation of upcoming traffic along Guadalupe Street, which was paved in 1930. The location was highly sought-after, given its proximity to the Austin State Hospital psychiatric facility (now known as Austin State Hospital) across the street, and was also conveniently located along Guadalupe Street, which at the time was the only route connecting Austin to Dallas.The motel is situated on the northwestern corner of the Hyde Park subdivision along what was then the main road out of town. In the 1930s it featured Austin's first neon sign, which still hangs from the front (though in a dilapidated condition). Blue Bonnet Court features a stone wall in front with 11 basic rooms and attached covered parking. The rooms are rented today as efficiency apartments. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Brentwood is a neighborhood in central Austin, Texas. Brentwood comprises United States Census tracts 15.05 and 2.05, and ZIP Codes 78756 and 78757. The area is bordered by Burnet Road and Allandale to the west, North Lamar Boulevard and North Loop on the east, 45th Street and Rosedale to the south, and Justin Lane and Crestview to the north. South Lamar, Austin, Texas is a neighborhood in south Austin, Texas, United States. South Lamar is bounded by Ben White Boulevard/TX-71 and Westgate to the south, South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Hills and Galindo to the east. Homes in South Austin have single family homes, apartment complexes, multi-family homes and condo complexes. Most of the multi-family residences are duplexes that were built in the 1980s. Because of this high concentration of duplexes, renters make up over 70% of the community making this a hotbed for investors.The Broken Spoke, a legendary dance hall founded in 1964, still features live music nightly. Owner James White had a reputation for booking local acts and "outlaw" bands that had gained notoriety by rebelling against the mainstream Nashville sound.
