Brentwood is a neighborhood in central Austin, Texas. Brentwood comprises United States Census tracts 15.05 and 2.05, and ZIP Codes 78756 and 78757. The area is bordered by Burnet Road and Allandale to the west, North Lamar Boulevard and North Loop on the east, 45th Street and Rosedale to the south, and Justin Lane and Crestview to the north. Running through the middle of the area is a tree-lined street named Arroyo Seco, which follows a creek of the same name.The neighborhood of Brentwood in north central Austin was originally a cotton farm until the late 1940s when the City of Austin annexed the land and land was purchased to build a school, Brentwood Elementary, which opened in the early 1950s. Brentwood Park opened that same year. Many of the homes in Brentwood are bungalow style. Bungalows are normally one and a half stories and have a low pitched roof and horizontal shape. Many of the bungalows were two and three bedrooms and were purchased by GIs who desired to start families after World War II.

Galindo is bounded to the south by Ben White Boulevard and the South Manchaca neighborhood, to the east by Dawson and South First Street, to the north by Oltorf Road and Bouldin Creek and to the west by the South Lamar neighborhood.Galindo maintains a primarily residential character, with most homes built in the 1950s and 1960s in either the ranch or bungalow style, though there is some new construction. The neighborhood anchor is the 11-acre South Austin Park and Recreation Center, located in the neighborhood's northwest section. Constructed in 1974, the park includes the South Austin Tennis Center, the only city-owned tennis center south of Colorado River.

South Lamar, Austin, Texas is a neighborhood in south Austin, Texas, United States. South Lamar is bounded by Ben White Boulevard/TX-71 and Westgate to the south, South Lamar Boulevard and Barton Hills and Galindo to the east. Homes in South Austin have single family homes, apartment complexes, multi-family homes and condo complexes. Most of the multi-family residences are duplexes that were built in the 1980s. Because of this high concentration of duplexes, renters make up over 70% of the community making this a hotbed for investors.The Broken Spoke, a legendary dance hall founded in 1964, still features live music nightly. Owner James White had a reputation for booking local acts and "outlaw" bands that had gained notoriety by rebelling against the mainstream Nashville sound. Leading this brigade were Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson. Such Texas favorites as the Dixie Chicks and George Strait also played the Broken Spoke when they were just starting out.

The Wall of Welcome is a 120-foot-long community public art mosaic located at 7100 Woodrow Avenue in the Crestview neighborhood of Austin, Texas. First envisioned by artist and Brentwood resident Jean Graham in 2002, the Wall reflects the community and documents some of the history of the Brentwood and Crestview neighborhoods. Fundraising for the wall began in 2003 with the first Violet Crown Festival. Jean and hundreds of neighbors worked together for five years to make the wall a reality; it was completed and dedicated in March 2008.The 2008 short film A Community Mosaic, produced by Rob and Susan Burneson, tells the story of the creation of the Wall, along with the history and people of Brentwood and Crestview.Barbara Lugge's book Wall of Welcome: A Neighborhood Project illustrates the wall and its individual tiles.

Crestview is a Capital MetroRail commuter rail station and Capital MetroRapid bus rapid transit station in Austin, Texas. It is at the edge of the Crestview neighborhood of North Austin, at the corner of Airport Boulevard and North Lamar Boulevard. The North Lamar Transit Center is one mile (1.6 km) north of the station, and the Highland Mall Transit Center (across from the Highland station) is 1⁄2 mile (0.8 km) to the southeast. There is no on-site parking at the Crestview station. Riders must park at the North Lamar Transit center and take buses 1 or 801 south to the train. With Project Connect, the Blue and Orange Lines will have a connection to this station.

The Allandale neighborhood boundaries are Burnet Road and the Brentwood and Crestview neighborhoods to the east, Mopac Expressway and the Northwest Hills neighborhood to the west, 45th Street and the Rosedale neighborhood to the south, and West Anderson Lane and the North Shoal Creek neighborhood to the north. The neighborhood is bisected by Shoal Creek Blvd, and its namesake, the perennial Shoal Creek.

A. N. McCallum High School is a public high school in Austin, Texas, United States. McCallum, the second oldest high school in the Austin Independent School District (formerly known as Austin Public Schools prior to desegregation in 1971), opened in 1953 to relieve growth in north and northwest Austin. Named after AISD's first high school superintendent, A.N. McCallum, the school strives to reflect the initiatives and achievements of its namesake. In 1994, McCallum motioned to make its campus the home of AISD's Fine Arts Academy. Currently, the Fine Arts Academy is open to all students in AISD who wish to attend, given that they are accepted following an admissions process. Current fine arts strands include visual arts, dance, theatre (acting/performance and technical), cinematic arts, voice, and instrumental music (band, orchestra, classical guitar, and collaborative piano). The Fine Arts Academy was recently named the 2015 Grammy Foundation's National Signature School, the lone recipient out of thousands of fine arts high schools in the country. McCallum had previously ranked as a Signature School Finalist in 2005, a decade before winning the highest award possible.Topping the list of thirteen high schools in the country, McCallum's recognition as the National Signature School earned the music program $5,000 from the Grammy Foundation and the Grammy In The Schools program. As recipient of the Foundation's Gold Award, McCallum High School earned the title of best music program in a public U.S. high school through making outstanding commitments to arts education throughout an academic school year. Student ensembles benefitting directly from this award included concert band, choral ensemble, orchestra, classical guitar ensemble, jazz band, and steel pan ensemble.

Highland is a Capital MetroRail commuter rail station in Austin, Texas, USA. It is located in northeast Austin at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Highland Mall Boulevard, just northwest of the I-35/Highway 290 interchange directly across the street from Highland Mall. The station is within a 15 minute walking distance to the Austin Greyhound Terminal located at 916 E Koenig Ln, Austin, TX 78751.This is the planned northern terminus of the Gold Line bus rapid transit.

The station features a park and ride lot and is served by several local bus routes as well as MetroRapid Route 801. As part of Project Connect, a Capital MetroRail light rail station is expected to be built at the facility; it is planned to be the northern terminus of the system, serving Blue Line and Orange Line trains.
